History of Legon
A quick overview of the known history of Legon
It is good world building to not have pages and pages of History that no one will use. But on the other side of the coin, it is good to have, at least, an idea of what happened. You never know when something in the present that might have some relevant connection to the past.
A few servants stumble in with some gear, and it gets quiet for a minute. Then the doors open a bit more with guards pushing them open. In walks a blonde girl with big piercing green eyes. Her walk is almost a glide, she is thin but not without curves. You know this to be the Princess.
Affinity will be twenty years old this year, born to the Baroness Cassandra. It was a parting gift from the late Vulcuran, the love of her life. This connects the past adventures of the “Vulcuran Adventures” to the new “Chance” adventures.
This was updated as we moved along on the campaigns. It is not well written but the information is there to read. The first recorded adventure was in the 1980’s and in Legon’s terms; Year 317 of the 3rd Era.
NOTE: Each Era is 1,000 years. So as an example, they are currently on year 2,348 of the known recordings of the land.
NOTE: Been trying to rewrite these, but they can be pretty intense. So bear with me on this for a while.
YEAR 317 : Year of Suppression
LACUNA: A newly formed Daggerdone harbors hundreds of people and begins to produce weaponry. A paranoid Gordon is Threatened · The Daggerdone Fighting citizens grow daily with the threat of Gordon and his Army. Gordon Dispatches Army to attack Town · The Battle takes place just east of Shimmer Bay as Gordon’s Army retreats ||SHIVERSTILL: Gordon claims all land in and around Shimmer Bay to be Gordonia. With that in mind the Gordonian Army upgrades with a few hundred troops. A different, more skilled band is formed called Gordonia Guards · The Town feeling threatened and cocky from there last battle victory dispatched troops to attack · A battle takes place outside of Gordon’s castle with the complete annihilation of the Army sent by Daggerdone. Gordon quickly puts together a counter offensive · Infection spreads in Daggerdone ||MAYRISE: The counter offensive was extremely successful considering the fact that the town was ill from the infection · Daggerdone is over-run by the Gordonian Army. Men are captured, killed or fled. All women and children were let go to roam the countryside. The refugees build a hidden town in the nearby forest and begin to live off the earth. Gordon searches for the men that fled but to no avail ||WILLOWSPARK: The refugees and some outsiders begin a new town called Northford. The town begins building · A large band of far away travelers join this town and help build, Gordon still unaware of town · A leader emerges for the Town called Cobrian, or Cobra for short. He forms an army for protection. · The Gordonian Guards Find Northford, and tell Gordon. Gordon waits to attack. · Towards the end of Tarsakh, Gordon sends a large army to attack Northford. · A battle ensues just outside the town with Northford coming out with a victory for Northford. ||PETALGREEN: King Gordon joins forces with a Large band of mercenaries and fighters, led by a man named Rockefeller. Together they plan an attack on Northford · A hidden Group of Archers and warriors join the Town Army, and they are called the “outlanders.” · Cobra meets the woman of his dreams and plans to marry ||ARDOR: A cooler then normal summer is upon Legon, and The wedding day is planned for Cobra and his soon to be wife · His wife ends up being an assassin and kills Cobra on his wedding day. · The stunned Northford, declares war and foolishly attacks Gordon. Meanwhile Rockefeller and his band attack the armorless town and burn it down. · The battle outside of the castle Gordonia fairs badly for Northford Army and they are driven away only to find out their home is no longer there. The remaining party find shelter with the Outlanders. ||HAMMERFLARE: The town mourns Cobra, and the idea for a new town is brought up by the remaining people. · Gordon Searches for the ultimate protection ||EMBERTINDER: A new town is beginning called “Ruffian.” They begin construction early in the month and build it a good distance from Shimmer Bay. · Gordon continues the search · Refugees from afar join the new town || COPPERWANE: Gordon finds a Mage to help assist in battles and protection · Town is still being built, wall around town begins construction · Ideas for an outpost is agreed upon and town construction is hastened · Gordon has no knowledge of Town · Gordon and Mage meet ||BLACKTHORN: Town still under construction and hastened 3 fold due to closeness of Winter · Gordon still no knowledge of Town · Cobra’s Brother Vulcuran Appointed new leader · Outpost begins construction · Weather begins to turn cold ||HARROWREAP: Unseasonable cold bears down on Ruffian, and the construction is slowed down · The Town walls are finished and the Town gets close to completion · Gordon’s Mage warns of a new town that is formed outside of Shimmer Bay · Gordon stays put with weather being so cold, no change in weather · Outpost still under construction · First snowfall is blizzard, halts all construction ||HIBERNAL: The cold weather continues · Everything in deep freeze and all travel, construction or outside activity is halted
YEAR 318 : Year of Ice
LACUNA:Realm still in deep freeze, nothing to report ||SHIVERSTILL: Sickness falls on the land as Clerics and Monks are over worked trying to save lives · Weather breaks some, but not enough ||MAYRISE: The weather breaks, bringing liveable conditions back to the land · Construction is finished for the Outpost · Gordon and Vulcuran call for a conference · Gordon visits Ruffian in the First Conference of the land, and peace talks progress well. · Vulcuran visits Gordonia in the final meeting between the two groups and a compromise was found. The Ice Treaty of 318, was signed and upheld · Town continues improvement and construction ||WILLOWSPARK: Peace is through out the land · Gordon begins plans on a new castle · Town starts up a trade route to other cities of the realm. ||PETALGREEN: Gordon disappears · The Gordonian Army is in disarray, and the disappearance of Gordon is a mystery · The Gordonian Army is taken over by there allies Rockefeller and attack the town of Ruffian · A great battle ensues for a week, as the Town crumbles from the might and Magic of Rockefeller and his new found kingdom. The town is burnt and destroyed as the few that survived fled · Rockefeller begins his rule in Gordonia ||ARDOR: Great weather follows the downfall of the 4th town made by these people. Vulcuran was captured and now sits in the jail in Castle Gordonia. · Crops and livestock are at its best in Gordonia, as it prospers financially and army wise. · A new leader emerges from the ashes of Ruffian, called Sir Jeramiah. He plans a rescue of Vulcuran ||HAMMERFLARE: The rescue was successful and brought the young Vulcuran to a safe haven. Town keeps Vulcuran as leader and Sir Jeramiah his back up. · Rockefeller offers refugees to join The Kingdom of Gordonia. · Most flee while very few join Gordonia. · Princess Julia Marries Rockefeller. ||EMBERTINDER: An evil Paladin called Darksky becomes the new General of Gordonia, under Rockefellers rule. · Town people begin to regroup and work on a full proof plan for protection. ||COPPERWANE: A plan is hatched by the Town people and preparation is underway. · The marriage between Rockefeller and Julia has softened Gordonia, and the town takes advantage of it. · Enormous amounts of rock is brought in and that takes most of the month ||BLACKTHORN: Crops are at an all time high and Gordonia prospers · A plan for an enormous stone wall is laid on a peninsula in the Shimmer Bay. Town prepares for winter · Gordonia spends all the time harvesting and celebrating ||HARROWREAP: A very mild Harrowheap, as temperature aids in the plans for the fortified town. The proper equipment and materials are brought into the area so that the new wall will be built extremely fast in the spring. · Gordonia prepares for winter. ||HIBERNAL: An average winter is upon Gordonia. · Rockefeller is content in his place, as the town is completely ready for their town. · The town begins battle training for safety. · Vulcuran recruits a few hundred stranded wanderers, and they settle for the winter
YEAR: 319 The year of the Mask
LACUNA: A mild Hammer, as temperatures barely reach freezing. · A new neighbor is discovered in the Strakian Jungle about 7 ride south of Gordonia. A Tribe filled with magically laden barbarians · More people join up with the townspeople and the plans are now set for late Shiverstill to construct the 60 foot high wall, all within a months time ||SHIVERSTILL: Rockefeller sends a party out to investigate the Strakian Tribe and they never return · Rockefeller begins construction of a larger wall and begins training sessions with troops. · Princess Julia discovers she is pregnant · The Town begins construction ||CHES: The wall is constructed on the peninsula, making the only way into the city is through the water. The wall extends 20 feet into the water on both sides. · Rockefeller sends the Mage to evaluate the Jungle and its inhabitants · The town begins construction of there castle and city hall · Rockefeller finds out about pregnancy ||WILLOWSPARK: Mage returns bruised and battered, and tells of a tribe of Barbarians that wield magic and follow a demi-god called Straka · The town continues to be constructed as Rockefeller consumed with his pregnant wife and powerful neighbor does no notice new town ||PETALGREEN: The townspeople name the city Camerondale, and continue building · Rockefeller sets up an outpost close to the Jungle, to keep an eye on Straka · Princess Julia is 5 Months · The Outpost is attacked by Teeter Orcs and destroyed · Rockefeller has yet to notice the town ||ARDOR: The town castle, city hall and temple is complete and more and more wanderers find themselves in Camerondale. · Rockefeller is alerted of the Towns accomplishments, and sends a small battalion over to parlay · The parlay went well for both sides and Rockefeller decides to keep his attention to his Wife and Straka. · Vulcuran begins investigation into brothers death ||HAMMERFLARE: Vulcuran steps down from the leadership due to the investigation to let Sir Jeramiah run the show · Vulcuran stays as chief advisor #2 in rank · Princess Julia is in 7th month · Rockefeller sends spies to Jungle to report of Strakas beliefs and possible plans. · Vulcuran continues investigation in Cobras death, who wanted him dead ||EMBERTINDER: Princess Julia is 8 months pregnant · A cool Eleint is upon Legon, and people worry about crops. · Vulcuran breaks off investigation with no luck or leads · Reports back to Rockefeller information on a very powerful being in the Jungle that the tribe follows ||COPPERWANE: Princess Julia has twins, a Boy and a Girl. Named them: (Female) Kerrigan Rockefeller & Thorsen Rockefeller. Both are very healthy and the Kingdom Rejoices · The Town is attacked by Gremlins but easily turned away · The town begins to grow.BLACKTHORN: A cool Uktar and Rockefeller calls for a conference · Sir Jeramiah and Rockefeller meet, Rockefeller voices his concern over the Straka Tribe while Sir Jeramiah wants a Peace treaty signed. Sir Jeramiah no longer wants to be part of the Gordonian Kingdom. · Day 2 of conference leads to a rift between the two sides. Rockefeller wants a joint effort to attack Straka, while Sir Jeramiah wants nothing to do with that or Gordonia. · The conference ends and tensions grow between the two lands. ||HARROWREAP: A very cold Harrowreap, as temperatures plummet · One cold, moonless night, Thorsen Rockefeller was kidnapped. · Rockefeller declares war on the town and sends over an army to fight the Town. Camerondale now fully armed and fully protected prepare for the Attack · The cold results in the retreat of the Gordonian Army and most travel ends · The weather breaks at the end of Harrowreap. ||HIBERNAL: A cold Nightal, but average just the same · Security is to the maximum in Camerondale as fear of a spy is sent in. · Rockefeller is brewing due to the kidnapping, town pleas that they had no part in it. · An uneventful end to The year of the Mask
Year: 320 The Year of Peace
LACUNA: No sign of Thorsen as Rockefeller and queen Julia mourn the loss of their child. · The town continues with the max protection and gears for battle when the weather gets warmer · A ransom note is received by Rockefeller ||SHIVERSTILL: A vampire has stolen Thorsen and is holding him captive. The Vampire demands a Keep be made for him just outside the Teeter Winds plains. · Rockefeller agrees. · Camerondale hears of the Vampire, and sends a band of well trained thieves and assassins to regain the baby. · The Vampire kills 5 of the thieves but the mission was successful just as Rockefeller set out to build the keep. ||MAYRISE: Camerondale presents Rockefeller with his prince and Gordonia Rejoices · Rockefeller grants town succession from Gordonia and its laws. Camerondale is now there own realm. · A peace treaty was signed at the first conference between Rockefeller and Jeramiah, called the Thorsin Peace Agreement. ||WILLOWSPARK: Camerondale opens trading route with Gordonia and other cities to the north. Camerondale grows, as does Gordonia · ||For 10 years Peace & Prosperity ruled both kingdoms. Gordonia grew 2 fold and lived well, while Camerondale grew three fold and lived very well. But late in the 11th year of peace, came a new enemy from the Teeter Winds plains. Crawkill a powerful Ogre mage, who has gathered together hundreds of Orcs. They began pillaging smaller towns and villages on the outer land of both kingdoms.
The next 6 years will be known as “The Great Orc Wars.”
YEAR 321 – Ardor
The first villages in Gordonia are pillaged by a large band of Orcs. When Rockefeller received this message, he quickly formed a battalion and sent them to fight these orcs and to make sure no more were around. The Battalion was ambushed by the Orcs and over-run killing them all. The Orcs disappear.
YEAR 322 – Hibernal
The Orcs reappear on Camerondale land and burn an outer village called Vectra. Two large battalions were formed and dispersed towards Camerondale. The Battalions met up with the Orcs and battled them. Camerondale was victorious but not without a large casualty rate. This battle took place just outside of a Town called Thornhill.
YEAR 323 – Hammerflare
A small Camerondale hamlet called Summer Moon was pillaged by orcs, as well as another Gordonian Village. Again Camerondale struck together 3 battalions and left for Summer Moon. When the Battalions arrived the town was deserted. During investigation the Orcs surprised them and defeated the Battalions.
YEAR 324 – Embertinder
The two kingdoms call for a conference about the Orc invasions. Camerondale and Gordonia sign a temporary war army combination agreement to fight the orcs. They send out a small search party to look for any wandering groups or the lair of the orcs
YEAR 325 – Blackthorn
Orcs attack the largest town outside of the City of Gordonia & burn it to the ground. The orcs disappear before any retaliation by Gordonia or Camerondale ||HIBERNAL: The search party discovers villages of orcs and returns to the kingdoms with the news. Both Armies prepare and combine for an assault in early Mayrise.
YEAR 326 – Year of the Rat
MAYRISE: A Great Army of both kingdoms march toward the orc villages lead by Vulcuran. They attack and destroy villages, taking POW’s and killing leaders. The Army heads back after a small search ||WILLOWSPARK: A small village in Camerondale was massacred. Stories of Men tortured and women raped. Children maimed and eaten. Camerondale and Gordonia are horrified by the stories and form the largest army ever to form in Legon, with thousands of troops and horses. They head towards the plains ||ARDOR: The great army catches up with the pillaging orcs and kills them. They set up camp and send out search parties in all directions to cut off any more Orc bands that might pillage. After a few days they spotted an army and the Camerondale/Gordonia Army ambushed them. A great battle ensued for 2 days as they run through a large orc army that was marching. Concerns are raised as to the whereabouts this army was marching.|| COPPERWANE: Army fights off smaller battalions of orcs that most likely did not expect to find a large well equipped army waiting for them. They continue the search for the lair.|| HARROWREAP: Late in the month the Army heads back to the kingdoms in lue of the upcoming Winter.
YEAR 327 – Year of Resolution
CHES: An even larger army is formed by Camerondale and Gordonia as these two kingdoms become closer. Its mission is to find and destroy the orc lair, reports of villages being pillaged begin again on the outskirts of the kingdom.|| ARDOR: Vulcuran heads up the Large army and after 2 months of searching find an cavernous area filled with Orcs. The army attacks in the dead of night and a battle ensues. The Army didn’t realize the amount of orcs living here as the Battle rages on for days. The Orcs finally surrender after 5 days of battling. Hundreds of lives are lost but the Orc lair is destroyed. No leader was found.|| HAMMERFLARE: Reinforcements arrive for the Army as they continue the search for the Orc leader. Vulcuran keeps the armies well protected with his marching style and planning.|| BLACKTHORN: The leader is found in a dungeon in the middle of the Teeter Winds plains. A small battalion led by Vulcuran infiltrates the lair and captures the leader || HARROWREAP: The Orc leader is taken back to Camerondale and is tried and executed.
YEAR 328 – The Year of Disconnect
SHIVERSTILL: The treaty between Gordonia and Camerondale is ended with a battle by the Shimmer bay. Gordonia is rumored to be very weak, and surrounding regions are looking to overthrow || WILLOWSPARK: Pirates are pillaging the trade routes along Zdrok way. Camerondale sends out a ship to find and destroy the pirates|| PETALGREEN: The party led by Vulcuran goes missing. Rumors are a ship destroyed along the shore was found ||ARDOR: Great news arrives in Camerondale as the Party arrives back home with the pirates defeated. More problems arise with Vampires on the outskirts of the City walls ||HAMMERFLARE: A new threat rises in the Teeter Wind plains. Vulcuran plays diplomat and rallies the neighboring realms.|| EMBERTINDER: Assassinations of some of the Royal Court spins to a realization of what is happening. The Realms gear up and attack Tullus Prax where the Warlord is held up. A Quick and brutal victory by Camerondale as “Devon the Dark” was defeated. || MARPENOTH: The reach of Skello is growing, plans are moved forward. Vampire hunters find the Vampire lair and a battle ensues on the outskirts of Camerondale. Vampires are defeated.|| BLACKTHORN: A threesome led by Vulcuran search for Skello and defeat him. Vulcuran destroys Skello but falls in battle. The realm and Legon mourns the loss of a great hero.
YEAR 329 – The Year of Rebirth
MAYRISE: All the realms gather in Camerondale to mourn and celebrate Vulcurans life. ||PETALGREEN: Cassandra, lover of Vulcuran gives birth to Camerondales first Princess, who will rule the land when she becomes of age. || EMBERTINDER: Camerondale, Rockdale, Thoraxe and Vermeer all sign a binding contract of peace and protection.
YEAR 336 – The Year of Red
MAYRISE: Mount Maximillion erupts. Sends the region in turmoil. The first rumors of Finster start to surface as the eruption destroys the largest, most sacred temple to Animax is obliterated. || PETALGREEN: Rescue attempts have failed and thousands of lives are lost in the Eruption. A mass exodus occurs, bringing refugees from all over. ||ARDOR: A mass project to hold the lava and flame starts, large “moat” like a river built to hold back the destruction. ||EMBERTINDER: Project is finished. The volcano stops spewing lava.|| BLACKTHORN: The area has cooled off, a salvage team attempts to find the temple to get religious and priceless artifacts.
YEAR 337 – The Year of Recovery
LACUNA: The Salvage team has disappeared and they fear the worst.|| MAYRISE: When winter breaks the realm send an army up to Maxamillion to discover that the team has disappeared but looks like a great battle took place.|| ARDOR: The temple was uncovered, and most artifacts and religious items recovered. On the way home, they are attacked by the salvage party; they were raised from the dead, ghouls and zombies. Rumors of a new Master Liche circulate.
Year 340 – Lacuna
Hill giants gather and attack Thorax. Camerondale, Rockdale and Vermeer dispatch armies to defend. Giants were defeated, bringing peace throughout the Thorax mountain range.
YEAR 344 – Harrowreap
In an amazing feat the Augustian Kingdom joins in the treaty of peace with the other Kingdoms of Legon.
YEAR 348 – The Year of the Champion
SHIVERSTILL: The volcano up north is rumbling again threatening to erupt yet again. || WILLOWSPARK: A quarter breed and a human find a compound under the Summer Isles, investigations leads to an old name rearing its ugly head again; Finster || PETALGREEN: During a vacation / meetings for the Royal court on the Summer Isles, an assassination attempt was made on the Princesses life. It was thwarted by Chance. The compound for Finster was cleared out except for the ghouls and undead they made as a trap. All did not go well, lives were lost. || ARDOR: Chance has been chosen as Finsters Champion, it is kept secret. The newly appointed Champion kills a High Priestess named Rosalinda in an Animax temple. Prophecies awaken. Thorn Gate invades Summer Isle and takes it over. This starts the Witch War. The heroes of the realm and Chance make it to the Isles and retake the islands in a quick covert attack. || COPPERWANE:After 11 weeks Camerondale invades Thorn Gates Capitol and wins a decisive battle, thus ending the Witch War. A time of peace is upon most of Legon.
YEAR 349 – The Year of Ascension
PETALGREEN: The realm is alerted to a massive drought happening and some spell helping it along. It lasted for over 50 days || ARDOR: A party of adventurers, under the banner of Finster found and defeated the source of the Drought; which happened to be from Imryllion, and brought rain back to the lands. Shortly after, the same party assisted the Demi-God Finster in his ascension to the godplane. Magic is returning to Legon.
