First Five Begins Here
“Yes, I have been filled in,” Chance snaps back a bit wearing his demon armor, still having anxiety about this, knowing there will be hell to pay on Monday AM with the Dahlia.
Shaking her head giving him a frown Velencia walks to a cleric and hands him a few things.
The Priestess turns to the couple who just arrived, “we have mostly everything there we need. Rawek is using the sigil back at my place to get there. He is probably there already,” she says telling just about anyone who is listening.
Chance and Khamyra have made their way over to Trinity who looks up and has a big smile on her face. They embrace. “Nice to see you Trin,” Khamyra says as Chance gives the Gypsy a bear hug. She giggles.
“It’s been balls to the wall all morning getting this going, how did you guys ever ride horses to a location and manage to bring everything?” Trinity says with a bit of sarcasm and muse to it.
Velencia is eyeing up the gypsy with a playful, yet annoyed look then turns back to Khamyra, “well might as well head on out. You can do a quick once over in the area invisible and make sure we are not running into something we can’t handle.” She then scoffs, giggles.
Khamyra nods and walks to her, “we can’t handle what, Vel?” giving her a raised eyebrow look, “I get it, but I doubt there is much on Legon that we can’t handle.”
Chance’s stomach drops hearing the over confidence in not only Velencia’s voice, but his wives as well. He turns to see a large woman enter with her hood drawn. Chance walks over, hand out and they exchange a warriors handshake.
Shemrata drops her hood looks over to Velencia, “I am here my Priestess.”
The Dark haired tattooed woman chuckles, “I can see that Shem, right on time too, thanks.”
After a half hour of standing around, watching everyone prepare, the group is ready to portal to their location.
“Hamza is there, I am sure he has everything set up already. Shem and Chump, why don’t you head on out, I am sure there are things you can do there… we are still just finishing up a few things here,” Velencia says back to them, waving her hand around like she always does.
The Odius and Champion glance at each other, smirk and walk to the sigil. Khamyra nudges the Priestess and she smiles and nods. “Go ahead hun,” Velencia says.
The Warlock walks over to the sigil, looks at the two, smiles and waves her hand across the flat square stone on the ground, then mumbles. It sparks a bit and glows. “Get going, the way we do it now, it only lasts for 30 seconds…”
As Chance jumps in, he can hear Velencia say, “just like Chump in the sack…”
Shaking his head he pops into existence again. Walks out of the sigil and then squats down instinctively. Chance waits for Shemrata to pop in, and she does laughing from Velencia’s joke.
The Champion grabs the Odius much to her surprise and covers her mouth. Her tail whips out and goes for Chance instinctively, but stops as her Dark Vision starts to kick in.
It was extremely damp, smelled of rotting fish and mold. It was a rounded out cave, old burnt out torches equally separated along the walls. In the middle seemed to be a brazier, bones of sorts and other debris. It had to be 40 feet in diameter and the ceiling was fairly high as well, getting to 30 feet in some spots. Practically underfoot and smoldering is the sigil, right in the middle of the cave. It looks like there were a few things left on it, and the magic of sorts burned right through them.
There was little to no sound except of the two people in the room, wide eyes and floored that this is where they ended up.
“What… the fuck?” Shem says, looking at the make shift symbol, currently dead, no way to return.
Behind the Scenes
The Warlock was ready to go, has been ready for ever it seems. Velencia taking her time with things. It’s been an hour since Chance and Shemrata left, and even though they seem to be buddy-buddy, it was still the Champion and still an Odius together, and that worries the Onyx Elf.
“Heading out!” she yells to Velencia who glances up.
The Priestess makes her way over quickly, then goes over spells, attack patterns, and the like, Khamyra was ready to finally go through the portal. Couldn’t be much past a click before High Sun (11 AM).
The Onyx elf waves her hand, mutters a few things and the sigil glows. She jumps in. Poof.
Khamyra reemerges in a large and somewhat swanky room with a few Clerics and Hamza who snaps his head over to her, “whoa. you guys are early,” he says chuckling a bit.
“We are?” she says stepping off the flat granite block.
He nods pointing back at the sigil, “just set that up.”
The Warlocks eyes bulge and her stomach drops, “wait, you just set this up now? Like 5 minutes ago, or like 2 hours ago?”
Turned around, confused as to her line of questioning the Tempest gives her a look and sees she is freaking out a little, “five. Minutes. Ago…?”
“Shemrata and Chance are not here?” the Onyx elf says, eyes widening, face losing more color.
Shaking his head, “not unless they rode in…?”
Khamyra waves her hand, mumbles a word or two and she jumps in the portal, poof.
Velencia glances back and chuckles seeing her back from the sigil trip, “forget something brown eyes?”
Much to the surprise of the Priestess she gets whirled around and glared at by the Warlock, “where is Chance and Shemrata? Did you send them somewhere else?”
Pushing the crazed Onyx Elf away a bit, she gives her a double take, “no, that sigil only goes to one place, wait, what are you talking about?”
“They are not there Vel. Hamza just set it up. It has only been active for less than ten minutes!” Khamyra all but screamed at her.
By now the room has stopped what they are doing and is looking on to the spectacle unfolding in front of them.
For the first time in what Khamyra can remember, Velencia looked completely unsure of herself and lost.
Shemrata looks to Chance and shakes her head, “not sure what happened but I am certain they will portal this sigil thing shortly to retrieve us…” she says with a little lack of confidence seeing the mess on the floor around the sigil.
The Odius is surprised to hear the Champion muffling his chuckles and she glances over to see him in almost a full blown laugh riot.
“Funny, this is funny?” she snarks back, trying to keep it down as the cave tends to make the sound echo.
After gathering himself up, both of them walk to what looks like the only exit to this cave and he stops them. Red faced with a big smirk, “she fucked up. After the years of me making my mistakes, her rubbing it in over and over, I can now point to her and say, you daft bitch, you messed this all up!”
Slowly shaking her head, the Odius is staring at the Champion in disbelief, “I guess so…” she says slowly, then looks about the room again, “but save it for when they show back up, right now I want to know what is beyond this cave corridor, just in case.”
The two of them creep down the caved corridor, and both are fairly quiet. But they can hear noise ahead and some light starting to bounce off the walls. Shemrata looks to the Champion, “you are much better at sneaking, go have a look,” she says giving him a push.
He frowns, nods his head and gets low. He sneaks up to the entrance, or exit if you will, and peers out. It is another chamber, but much bigger and brighter, he looks up and there is a large hole in the ceiling and he can see blue sky. But right in front of him is a large pool of water, and 4-5 creatures skulking about. Concentrating he focuses in on the closest and he recognizes them as Sahuagins. Taking one more look around, he sees directly across from him, roughly 100 feet is a large cave entrance. Shaking his head, he slinks back to Shemrata.
“Sahuagins, 4-5 of them,” he says glancing back, then looking back to the original cave.
Shemrata shrugs her shoulders, “I am guessing they are not bartenders serving ale then,” she quietly barks back, not knowing what a Sahuagin is.
Chuckling he shakes his head, “no, just some water dwelling creatures, look to have made a home in a cave. But there does seem to be an exit across the cave, the ceiling is half open and I can see the blue sky.”
The Odius nods, looks to Chance, “well? Champion? What do we do?”
After a long moment, trying to detect any sarcasm, and realizes there was none, he looks back to the first cave they were in and nods that way, “I can’t imagine they wouldn’t try and get back to us, so lets go and wait for them.”
The female beast nods her head and the both of them head back and wait.
Behind the Scenes
“Calm down! Calm down!” Velencia yells, walking to the sigil. “I need to talk with Hamza,” she says waving her hand, mumbles and poof she is gone.
Cullun is wide eyed looking on and he meets the Warlocks eyes. Khamyra, Trinity and Cullun walk to each other and get to the farthest part of the room as they could, to talk.
“Didn’t Chance and that, Shemrata, make it to the other side?” the gypsy responds, unsure of how it really works.
The Warlock shakes her head, “Well, they weren’t there and this is not a time for some practical joke…”
“Unlike the Priestess to mess this up, from what I gathered she tested this a hundred times,” the Historian muses a bit, looking back over to the sigil.
Khamyra still a bit of worry, “I don’t think she actually did, per-say, Hamza just didn’t have it set up yet. He thought people were coming over in the afternoon. Maybe Velencia told him something wrong, I don’t know. But when Shem and Chance went through, the portal at the Inn was not set up… It should not of worked, but it did… so, where could they have gone?”
Poof. “Mother fucking son of a bitch,” Velencia spews stepping off the sigil, “he just got there, my ass, he probably had too many pints the night before. That sigil should of been set up hours and hours ago…”
Khamyra makes her way over looking at the red faced woman.
“Hamza is dismantling the sigil now at the Inn, I am going to go through the sigil and find out where they are, trying to replicate what happened,” Velencia says, pacing a bit wringing her hands, then yelling “of all the problems I thought we would have with this operation, timing of a sigil setup was not one of them… he just needed to set the mother fucking thing up!”
She pauses a moment, “it should be ready, or… not ready or whatever!” the Priestess says in frustration.
Waves her hand, says a word or two and jumps in the sigil. She lands. Thud. Still in the backroom of Culluns. Her eyes slowly make their ways to Khamyra’s whose are getting bigger and bigger by the second.
Stepping out, Velencia then waves her hand, says a word or two… the sigil sparks a bit and that makes her back up. She then jumps on it and the same result. The Priestess is just standing on a stone slab in the middle of a potion making backroom with everyone staring at her.
After almost two hours, Chance is getting antsy.
“Do they even know we are gone?” he exclaims a bit, trying to be quiet but getting frustrated by the second.
Shemrata smirks a bit and nods her head, “I am sure they are, probably coordinating how to get us back.” Thinking that the sigil they came in on might not work again.
Chance walks over to the sigil, looks at some things burned into the ground, wipes it away to see the symbols and half the design disappear. His eyes bulge, “OK, that didn’t just happen.”
The Odius stands up from squatting by the entrance and walks to him, “whoa, what did you just do?”
“I pushed the burnt shit off the sigil, but it was the symbols were drawn and not carved? What the fuck…” he exclaims a bit in disgust.
Shemrata turns and walks a bit away shaking her head, “that is just great, great! Stuck here now for sure. Why would you have done that?”
Looking down Chance responds, “because I thought all that burnt debris was hindering the magic, or confusing the sigil or something. It shouldn’t of been taking that long for them to come get us!”
Nodding her head, she looks down, knowing it was a dead symbol, “true. Everyone would be at the Inn by now…” the Odius says, then snaps her head up to the entrance.
Shemrata practically rushes the quarter elf, covers his mouth, “Listen, I would love to go and slit some throats of these, sausage creatures, but lets not invite them down just yet. I think I heard something in the corridor… damn-it.”
Both of them glance over to the opening and in walks the creatures, lighter green scaly skin, some fins on them like jewelry almost. Three normal ones, two of them have what looks like makeshift tridents another an extended spear. Then a bigger one, seems to have some sort of armor, multiple weapons, four arms and a mean look to him. Then a female that reminds the Finster duo of a Priestess, tits flopping about, ornamental head piece; possibly a dagger. All of their eyes bulge wondering who you are and how the hell you got in here.
The woman says something in a language you had no idea what it was, it sounded like farting underwater. She points out and the creatures separate and start to surround you.
“I’m guessing you don’t know Common, or any other language I know,” Chance says with a sigh, reaching for his helm, unlatching it.
Their weapons are drawn, aiming at the two of them.
Once they were far enough apart, the Odius glances to Chance who was just glancing back to her. They both form an evil smirk.
Chance instantly turns into the Champion, light rippling through his body, his eyes beaming light. He rips out silent fate with the sound of a “shing!” A few sparks from the blade as it is connecting with its master. He tilts his head now seeing the fear in their faces. In a quick motion, he grabs his helm and slams it down on his head. “guess it’s seafood today Shem…” he growls.
Meanwhile Shemrata rips off her hood and cloak, her eyes wide, huge smile. Her horns are bigger than ever and are decorated. Her plate mail is the best Blue Steel in the land. She cracks her legion metal thorn whip. To add to it all, her tail whips around and slaps the ground with a loud noise.
The creatures all yelp, eyes huge and jump back slamming against the wall.
“Too late now you little fuckers” the Odius says with some ticking apparent. The two Finster followers have big evil smiles and start forward…
Battle Written Out
TOP OF ROUND ONE
Chance in full champion mode and bark skin – one round left. There is 3 Sahuagins, 1 Sahuagin Champion and 1 Sahuagin Priestess
The Champion races for who he assumes is the leader of this fishfest, and slices deep into her (12hp of damage). She lets out an audible gasp backing up a bit, wide eyes. Face to face with a weird barked, glowing eyed creature she does not know what to do. She ducks and the next swing sails over her head. But the Sahuagin Priestess tries to back up more, only to get a sword in the gullet making her scream a little, sea water, blood trickling from her mouth (9hp of damage).
One of the Sahuagins, Shemrata nicknamed “Saggies” heads for the Odius only to get side stepped, parried and as it turned around a knife gets sent through its neck region making its eyes bulge, never being around anything so big, powerful and fast, it grabs for the neck, wide eyes (14hp of damage, rolled a Crit Fail).
Two of the saggies go after Chance, one being a common and another their Champion. They punch, claw and bite but with no avail, all 5 attacks from them either bounced off the armor, the bark skin or the tall man parried the attack, (currently Chance has a 25 AC).
Shemrata was already heading towards the Champion and it took his eyes off her. She wraps the creature up in the whip and that made his eyes bulge. He just finished missing Chance, frustrated and now is getting tied up with a thick, heavy thorned metal whip (24hp of damage; 18hp, tighten grip 6hp). The Odius doesn’t stop there she jumps and drives a dagger into it’s shoulder making it gurgle and yell (6hp of damage).
The Priestess, who was by far the smartest in the cave for the Sahuagins, she quickly heals herself, using disengage as the barked quarter elf was paying attention to other things and heads up the corridor they came down, making it a good 25-30 feet but still in visual range.
TOP OF ROUND TWO
Chance in full champion mode and bark skin – Ends after this round. There is 3 Sahuagins, 1 Sahuagin Champion and 1 Sahuagin Priestess
Chance glances up to see the Priestess running and he growls, but turns his attention to the Saggy right next to him. He slashes hard, and it rips through the creature, literally ripping him in half. Blood, guts, sea water fly everywhere (rolled a natty 22hp of damage – he ded). With out even thinking, the sword automatically attacks the closest enemy (special ability of the sword after a roll of 20). It slices through another Sahuagin that was holding its neck area. An Arm goes flying and the sword dug deep into the side, it slumps down to the ground lifeless (14hp of damage). The final attack was a bit wild and misses the intended target.
The Saggy Champion, tries to break free of the whip, and he fails (rolls a 2). This adds 4hp of piercing thorn damage. Shemrata takes full advantage with her hidden dagger popped out and jams the weapon into 3 different places, all but killing the creature (4 + 7 + 5hp of damage, pull of whip added another 4hp). It falls limp in the clasp of the whip, dead.
The Priestess frantically trying to high tail it out of there, pun intended? She turns, casts guiding bolt towards Chance. With Magic returned it is no longer a weak cantrip, it is a full blown spell. It hits Chance in the chest, and his AC did him no favors. He missed his savings throw and he back peddles a little cursing about making her the main course in dinner (15hp of damage). With her next action she turns and heads for the open cave area where she dives into the large pool of water.
Without looking Shemrata takes the last Saggy, wraps her tail around its neck, and they hear a “crack” sound and the already injured creature goes limp and the Odius whips it across the room (14hp bludgeoning, constrict of air, broke neck, it ded).
Shem and Chance here a loud “ploop!” knowing the Priestess just escaped. They look around the room, littered with Sahuagin parts, blood, guts and a really bad smell.
Turn Base Begins Here
Chance: We will look the bodies over taking what we think could be useful for components and loot. Then I turn and look at Shemrata
DMaster: She is holding up a trident with two fingers, a look of disgust.
SHEM: Everything has this goop on it, guess that is how these things don’t rust right away I suppose
You noticed there is a film like substance on all the items – a way for them to not rust, or degrade. It is kind of gross.
Chance: Lift an eyebrow and chuckle.
Chan: I guess it serves a purpose. Shem, keep my back, we only have one way to go and I don’t need anything secretly finding its way behind us.
Pointing at the corridor.
DMaster: She glances over and around.
SHEM: Secretly what?
Chuckles and nods her head.
Chance: Chan: Plus, you are kind of intimidating in case we encounter anything else.
DMaster: She looks your armor over, your helm and nods
SHEM: Oh yeah
She chuckles
SHEM: I, am the one who is intimidating.
Then pulls up her hood, tucks her tail
Chance: Shake head, shrug shoulders make my way towards the exit of this cave with silent fate and my shield still out
DMaster: You clink clank your way up, not too loud but not your usual quiet self. The cave you end up at is pretty big, it has a large indented pool in the middle surrounded by a thin beach / sand of sorts. About 100 feet straight away is what looks like the only other place you can go – big hole in the ceiling of this cavern, making it very bright, you can see blue skies and a few clouds. To each side you see debris, not sure what, some look like bodies, other garbage, there seems to be some furniture of sorts, lack of better terms, with a person or two draped over it, naked, what you assume is dead. You do not see movement, you do not see any Sahuagins.
Chance: covering my eyes a bit look to see if I can get any bearing on what is across the way. Shake my head in disgust seeing the bodies and garbage, then make my way back to Shemrata. Describe what I see outside to her.
Chan: Two ways out. But since we can’t fly, our only real exit is about 100 feet from us across the cavern, around the pool. I guess we should head that way and check it out.
DMaster: She is wiping off her whip, glances up. She nods, wraps her whip up and follows you.
Chance: Chan: of all times for Velencia to mess up, now really wasn’t the time
Shaking head
DMaster: Shem scoffs
SHEM: There really is never a good time for messing up. But I am baffled at the sigil back there
She is thumbing in that direction
SHEM: Why was it drawn? With what and how? How did it transport us here, and not anyone else?
Chance: Slow a bit thinking and nodding my head.
Chan: That has me baffled as well, but hey, magic really isn’t my thing
Smirking
DMaster: She smirks back
SHEM: Aye, mine either
DMaster: You two are at the exit of that corridor, still nothing. Looking across the open cavern.
Chance: We are going to head in the direction of the only other thing I saw 100 ft straight ahead
DMaster: You have to go around the pool in the middle
Chance: Point to Shemrata as we try to move around the pool
Chan: Keep those eyes on a swivel as we go around the pool Shemrata, don’t want those fish fries surprising us
DMaster: She nods her head scanning the area. You both are walking around, don’t hear anything but are on high alert. Some bodies, some fresh, others half eaten others just bones, old clothes, bags, and rusty weapons.
Chance: keep my back towards the far wall as we get around the pool, before turning towards the exit
DMaster: It seems clear to the exit. A decent size cave corridor; about 12-13 feet high, 20 feet wide.
Chance: Chan: I still can’t get an idea of where we ended up, its chilly, so we are not on Summer Isle.
DMaster: Slight chuckle from the Odius.
SHEM: Well in a cave who can? Let’s get out of here, smell is not great.
Chance: Chan: smells worse than some of my morning bathroom breaks
I will chuckle
DMaster: She lets out a surprise chuckle, covers her mouth and you head in the corridor. You can feel fresh cool air blowing through
Chance: Chan: guess we head that way, I say
pointing in the direction that I was looking when I scouted
DMaster: She gives you a odd look.
SHEM: Clever deduction.
She says knowing this is the only way you two can go. You two walk a good 50 feet, and you can see an exit, a pretty bright light. Both of you squinting, but you can tell it leads to outside
Chance: well, no sense in being to stealthy as I have Shemrata at my side now, so make our way outside and look around better.
DMaster: Your eyes focus and suddenly a girl, hood drawn, weapon out and makeshift armor is staring at you with wide eyes and complete confusion. Behind her another guy looking around at you two, also looking confused.
Chance: Sigh loudly.
Chan: Great, just great.
My hand grips Silent Fate a bit tighter keeping my guard up
DMaster: She is looking past you into the cave entrance, then back to you.
GIRL: Who the hell… are you two?
Once she says that, roughly 10 people on your left, 10 people on your right pop up over some rocks, and such with bows, arrows, crossbows and bolts aimed at you both.
SHEM: Great. Just great.
Chance: Glance at the Odius and smirk
Chan: I just said that.
I sheath silent fate.
Chan: easy, easy, we aren’t the enemy, nor do you want us to be.
Putting my hand up
DMaster: Shemrata glances to you and then pulls back from pulling out her double blade. A slight ticking coming from her. She looks around and back to you.
GIRL: Where… I mean how…
MAN: In there you, did what you, make way to?
The girl glances back nudges the man
Chance: Stare blankly at the man, figuring he is speaking broken common.
Chan: Perhaps you could tell us just where in Legon are we?
Giving a small smile trying to diffuse the situation
DMaster: It is a nice day out at least. Puffy clouds, but clear otherwise. Mid 40’s, a decent wind.
GIRL: Wait wait, hold up.
She relaxes a bit.
GIRL: You come out a cave with no other exit, unscathed by what resides in there and you don’t even know where you are? Did you smoke some wacky tabacky?
A few of the armed men and women chuckle.
Chance: Nod my head, chuckle and smile again, using persuasion if I can.
Chan: I wish.
DMaster: It works, you charm her pretty good (rolled a 23). Shemrata pulls a piece of a saggie off her, flings it to the side
SHEM: Well, there is a little bit of them there, if you want it.
She says with a slight chuckle
Chance: Give her a smile and turn back to the woman.
Chan: well, me and my companion are quite capable of handling ourselves.
DMaster: MAN: You are yes, devil of seas, kill they did
GIRL: You killed the Sea Devils in there?
She says wide eyes glancing past you, sound of her voice shocked.
Chance: Chan: Yes. They were not that hard to put down. But… their Priestess of sorts did escape, but the rest in there are dead
DMaster: The girl starts waving her hands; the bows and crossbows are put down, everyone relaxes a bit. After a minute of the girl thinking.
MAN: Call you make, must be.
She nods, in obvious conflict. Looking to you.
GIRL: You are not in league with them? You are not going to gut us?
Chance: Look a bit shocked and shake my head.
Chan: To what end? No. No.
DMaster: She waves her hand a few times, yells.
GIRL: Lets go, lets go!
A group of them go running past you into the cave area. Then Shem nudges you
SHEM: Uhhh, I don’t really care if they die, but I know you are a bit of a panty waste, so we should go with them just in case.
Chance: Nod my head
Chan: hey now, a panty what? Waste?
DMaster: She chuckles, gives you a playful nudge and you follow them in. You can hear gasps and screams of sorts making you quicken your pace
Chance: Chan: Dammit, are they back already?
Making sure I have silent fate out as we quicken our pace
DMaster: You get there and they were not under attack, they found the bodies of what you suppose are loved ones. The girl rips past you
GIRL: I know I know, this is horrific, but lets go, lets go! We can mourn in the village!
She is waving them on. They look up and are now trying to carry, drag bodies out. The girl looks into the pool and shudders, then is waving everyone on again.
Chance: Chan: Do what you have to, make it quick. We will guard the pool.
Walk to the edge of the pool, keep a stern eye on it for anything, bubbles, ripples.
DMaster: Shem does the same pulling out her double bladed scimitar. The woman glances over, smiles softly and nods her head
WOM: Thank you.
Still a bit off put by you, but it seems she is trying to take the biggest issues first, you don’t seem to be the biggest right now. A few more come running in, some tear streaked already, they are helping.
Chance: Put my arm on Shemrata’s shoulder and lean in
Chan: You keep on your guard, not that they seem to be much of a threat to us, (whispering,) Once we help get bodies to their village, we can at least get our bearings and figure out or next step to getting back home
DMaster: She nods looking around. For the most part they are done, nothing happened with the pool and you all head out. About 50 feet from the entrance is more unequipped people and they are crying, yelling, balling, etc. It is a tragic scene.
Chance: At this point I will unlatch my helm and hook it to the back of my armor if I haven’t already. I don’t want to be intimidating to these people. It looks like they have enough on their hands now.
DMaster: Shemrata is looking back at the cave entrance, rubbing her chin.
SHEM: Yeah, I imagine there is going to be a retaliation from the seafood, we need to collapse that entrance or fill it with something… otherwise it will be a slaughter.
She says quietly leaning into you.
Chance: Nod my head agreeing with what Shemrata said. Looking around at the entrance to see if there is anyway we could easily collapse it. look for that woman that seems to be leading the party.
DMaster: Not sure about filling in the hole so to speak, but there are a ton of rocks and boulders. Could maybe seal it. It is pretty flat at the top of the entrance so you could maybe bring it down there with some mining work. The woman is walking towards you with other armed people. Head down, obvious distress
Chance: I am still kind of holding my hand up in a peaceful gesturing, hoping to keep this situation as friendly as possible
DMaster: She stops and looks to you
GIRL: First off, Thank you. But… who are you and how the hell did you get into that cave?
The guards seem a bit at alert, but not anything you need to worry about.
Chance: Smile and nod.
Chan: well, how we got into that cave? You might not really believe me if I told you. As to who I am my name is Chance.
DMaster: SHEM: I am Shemrata
She glances to Shem and smiles,
GIRL: Tall powerful woman, nice. My name is Mercy and we thank you again for taking care of the sea devils for us.
Chance: Chan: Consider it our pleasure, Mercy, that we helped, but might I suggest you collapse that entrance
Pointing to the top of it.
Chan: Wouldn’t want another occurrence to happen
DMaster: She nods
MER: We do not have any tools or equipment to do that but, we will try now with what we have.
DM: Condensing. Chance and Shemrata help drag a boulder over to the entrance, fill in the holes with rock and sediment. Four or five people jump on top and start hammering away and it finally gives in and collapses. It would be near impossible for anything to make it out again.
SHEM: Now that is done, can you let us know where we are?
Mercy shakes her head a bit, confused… but sighs.
MER: You are on Detonas Island
SHEM: Oh. That. Didn’t help. (quietly) where the fuck is detona’s island?
The Odius chuckles
Chance: See if I have even heard of this island from my time with Cullun
DM: Rolls a 2. So no, not a clue. Shemrata rolls a 5, so no for her too. Then the DM writes: a little of your brain leaked out of your ear.
Chance: hahaha, ghee thanks, asshat!
DMaster: She stops and looks at you two…
Chance: Chan: well, that really doesn’t help us. Generally where are we?
Wave my hands around in a wide motion.
DMaster: Pointing in a direction she says
MER: An hour walk to the docks, you can ferry to Rockdale, though it is a bit East of there. It is alright there for now, but though not sure you would want to stay too long… even with your prowess.
Chance: Looking over at Shemrata and sigh a bit.
Chan: no pun intended, we just will have to chance it to get back home.
Give her a look.
Chan: Does your village have a place where we might be able to get some food and rest? Before me and my compatriot figure out what we are going to do next?
DMaster: She nods as she is wiping down the front of her shirt, with a smile
MER: Of course, you will be our guests. The least we can do for you both.
She points in a direction that most people are now walking and carrying bodies.
Chance: Give her a small smile, nod.
DMaster: The man that was behind Mercy comes up and is trying to shake your hand
MAN: You I thank, you I like.
He then runs off. Shem leans in
SHEM: What is wrong with that guy? (quiet)
Chance: Chuckle a little as he runs off
Chan: That is broken common, or something of the sort. It’s a treat to decode everything they say, (sarcasm, pause) well you should have seen the ones we met at Shadow Run. (quietly)
Shaking my head and smirk
DMaster: The Odius shakes her head, Mercy glances back.
MER: That is my neighbor Jakari. He can be a bit hard to understand.
Shrugging her shoulders she walks.
SHEM: That’s an understatement…
Chance: Nudge the Odius, give her a playful “no” look and head shake.
Back In Camerondale
Khamyra barges through her front door making Novalee jump and spill her water. The cute Blonde Elf was reading a book in the Living Room. It makes her get up and walk out only to see the Onyx Elf storming for her office area.
“Khamyra?” Novalee says walking over to the now open office door, glancing in.
A stack of papers go flying across the room and the Elf’s eyes bulge, “anything I can help with?”
“No, hun, sorry, shit hit the horsetail at Culluns,” she says in a huff as the Warlock found the map she needed, “I have to scry for Chance and Shemrata.”
Nodding her head, Novalee backs up and Khamyra makes her way to the large table in their entrance-way. Lays out the map, search’s her components, sprinkles things across the map and says “hitta persuna Chance Axion.” With a wave of her hand she is frantically looking over the map. From Clovendale to the West this map is unfortunately almost unfinished and not very accurate, but from Clovendale to the East it is pretty well made.
The dust starts to trail, spin and it whirls until it hovers over the North East part of the map, over an island in the old Gordonia Kingdom.
The Warlock squints and pushes some dust out of the way as the spell starts to dissipate. Runs her finger across the map, she mumbles, “Detonas Island.”
“Chance is on an island? How did he…” Novie starts to say, but stops abruptly figuring Khamyra does not want to talk about it.
Standing straight up, blank look staring across the room the Onyx Elf slowly shakes her head. Then glances to the blonde Elf. “The portal we were using fucked up. Sent Chance and Shemrata to another location, apparently somewhere in the Old Gordonia Kingdom.”
The Warlock and Elf exchange glances, then seeing the blondie with a worried look on her face, “what is it Novie?”
“That place has been in turmoil for years now, lots of insurgents, factions, gangs. It’s a free for all really,” Novalee finishes with a bit of trepidation.
Nodding her head she sighs loudly.
Then a knock on her door.
She races for it, opens it and looks around. There is no one there. She almost gets bowled over from an invisible entity, and she turns around, shuts the door. “Velencia?”
Appearing out of thin air is the High Priestess of Finster. “I almost didn’t make it, fuck. This was so much easier when you lived in the shale,” she says with some disgust.
“Deal with it,” Khamyra says cold, forceful and storms past her towards the table.
Shaking her head, Velencia walks to the table, looks, and scrunches her nose, “They are in the old Gordonia lands? On an island?”
The Warlock nods, but seems much more calm, “apparently. But he is alive, and that is all I care about right now, along with getting them home safe.”
DMaster: Mercy shakes her head in return. You walk about 10 minutes and get to a make shift… well, village you guess. Lots of tents a few rickety, albeit new huts, big fire in the middle, and people walking around.
MER: Welcome to our little village
she says stopping then pondering
MER: Not sure it is a village but we don’t really have a name for it
She guides you to some tables
Chance: Chan: I guess my question is, how long has this little village been here?
Still looking around a bit
DMaster: MER: Maybe a year. The insurgents and the battling got so bad a few years ago we were driven from our old town. We set up camp outside Rockdale figuring it would be safe, and it wasn’t. The City is big enough to take care of itself, but it is a point of contention for all who want power. We somehow made it across the Ronku Straight, with help of the ferries and we started a new village here.
She frowns and shrugs her shoulders thinking of her ordeal.
MER: We thought we were safe, but for the past few months we have been fighting those sea devils. We were about to start to look for somewhere else to live, again.
She stops looks you two over.
MER: Now, whether I believe it or not, how are you here? how did you get in the cave?
She grabs some bottles off a table, pops them open and hands them to both you and Shemrata
Chance: Look over at Shemrata first
DMaster: The large Odius is sniffing the bottle, shrugs her shoulders and takes a glug, a surprise look on her face.
SHEM: This… is delicious
MER: Cold Nut Milk… Not a great name, I think it is called something else, maybe Rosin Cream or something. It does have a bit of a kick to it. We have a bunch of trees that produce nuts a few times a year.
Shem gags a bit at the “cold Nut Milk” name and then smiles.
SHEM: I will go with the, Rosin Cream, name then.
Chuckling a bit.
Chance: Smile and shake my head a little.
Chan: Well. Let’s just say we have unique friends and family. We were planning a raid, or whatever you call it…
continue to explain, in vague detail then looking at Mercy with a soft smile watching to see how she reacts.
DMaster: Wide eyes, mouth open.
MER: A portal? You what?
Staring at the two of you.
SHEM: It’s complicated. Like Chance said, we have unique friends and family.
Chance: Chan: very complicated, but more or less, this is why me and Shemrata are here.
DMaster: The Legion Odius, grabs your bottle and starts to drink it
SHEM: Hey, I’m thirsty
Chance: Chan: Apparently. But, you earned it after what you did to those, what did you call them? Sausages? Plus, I am in no hurry to drink Nut Milk.
Looking over at Shemrata
DMaster: She shakes her head with a smirk trying not to giggle. It is pretty somber in the village of sorts, some sobbing, crying, a scream or two of pain. They are working on the bodies. What looks like some sort of Priest of Animax consoling people.
MER: I must take my leave from you. I will have some food sent over as soon as I can.
Chance: Chan: we thank you for your hospitality
DMaster: MER: I would recommend getting to the ferry by days end, I am not sure they run tomorrow being Sundalay.
Shemrata is enjoying the brew
Chance: Nod my head at Mercy. Wait till she takes her leave before leaning into Shemrata.
Chan: my heart really does break for these people, wish there was something more we could do for them. But we have enough on our plate, so to speak, to deal with.
Pause and think.
DMaster: She gives you a side-wards glance.
SHEM: Chance. You have constipation face.
Chance: Chuckle remembering that is what Talia likes to call it, almost. Fart-Face.
Chan: Well I am gifted, or cursed depending on how you look at it, with the ideal of fate. I am supposed to be where I am supposed to be and its for a reason, even as absurd as it can be.
Look around smirk.
Chan: Case in point.
DMaster: She nods
SHEM: Yeah. I think Velencia mentioned that a while ago, when we first met. So we are here for a reason, interesting.
Chance: Chan: I am just wondering how close we can get without having to deal with the shit from Rockdale?
DMaster: She takes a deep breath and shakes her head
SHEM: It seems like the fighting comes and goes, at least that is what I was getting out of it. Some group attacks or tries some shit. Rockdale is big enough to fend them off. So if no one is trying to change the management in the city, I think we should be alright. Plus I am not sure if it will be right there off the ferry, or miles away. She said something about it being East.
Chance: Chan: because between the sight of me and you Shemrata it can’t lead to anything good. We might be walking right into another shit show just to try and get out
DMaster: She sighs. Looks around and looks back
SHEM: They don’t seem to have horses, and acquiring them should be our top priority, how much money you got?
Chance: Go through it without anyone seeing and count it up
Chan: (quietly) Two Platinum, twenty gold, ten silver and five copper.
DMaster: She nods
SHEM: Mr. Money bags. I just got 30 gold, that’s it
She says shrugging her shoulders. Hands you the money.
Chance: Take it and put it in my pouch.
Chan: hopefully that gets us something or its going to be a long walk home
Force a smirk.
DMaster: SHEM: Most decent horses are a platinum or two usually. But then again, I never bought a horse.
She says kind of unconvincingly. Two people walk over gingerly puts a plate of some kind of meat and spiced tators, then two smaller plates for you individually. Then they run off
Chance: Chan: well, I know Toby, my horse, came from some horse farm in Rockdale. Maybe they still have horses there.
Looking down feeling some emotions hit, then whip them back into shape.
DMaster: You guys eat, what you think is beef. Dry and salty, tators were pretty good
Chance: Chan: well, we really should head towards where that ferry can get us off this island, unless you are enjoying the scenery
Chuckling
DMaster: She gets up smiles and starts to walk towards where Mercy pointed. There is a make shift, half dirt, rock and mud path. Mercy is walking up
MER: Leaving? Yeah there is a ferry at sunken sun, so you have plenty of time to get to it.
Chance: Chan: I want to personally thank you for the hospitality, but me and my companion really do want to try and get back home.
DMaster: She smiles and gives you a long handshake
MER: We should be thanking you. I wanted to do more for you, but it is a time of mourning here, so I appreciate the quiet exit you are taking
Chance: Nod.
Chan: Once we get off the ferry to the main land, where is Rockdale? Is there a place we can get horses?
DMaster: She smiles.
MER: Rockdale is East of the ferry station. If you are from Camerondale, you would not be going that direction. Horses?
She chuckles.
MER: Won’t be hard to miss, realm famous ‘Franks Board and Stables’ is right across the way.
Chance: “Frank, Franks” saying that in my head. My biological mothers last name was Franks. It has to be the place. Am I fated to be here, see her? Her grave? Shake head and smile at her.
DMaster: Mercy is giving you a weird look as you are thinking and turns to Shemrata. She shakes the Odius’s hand, looks up and gasps
SHEM: Shush little one, no harm will come to you today. We will be on our way.
The woman has wide eyes and is backing up slowly.
Chance: Give her a look, and nod.
Chan: not a word of my companions appearance, understand?
Putting my fingers towards my lips as to say “shhh.” Making sure Shemrata has turned to walk away
DMaster: Mercy backs up even further and nods her head. Shem was walking slow, waiting for you. DM: Condensing: You make it past another makeshift town after an hour or so. Then to a very small hamlet, with some docks. It is about 5:00 PM. You pay the man 2 silver for you and Shemrata and wait. The Ferry shows up, takes you across what Mercy called the Renku Straight. Then docks. As told, straight ahead about 100 feet is a horse farm, albeit very well guarded and looking like a fortress. But the sign outside says “Franks Stable and Board”
Back In Camerondale
Khamyra not wanting to know the answer, but asks anyway, “I will get back to Culluns right away, I just needed to know where Chance was. Then we can do this raid.”
The High Priestess nods her head and frowns, “doesn’t matter, our scout told us the place is now empty. No one there…” she finishes with a disgusted look, and a sigh.
The Onyx elf looks and shakes her head, “how would they of known? What did they…”
Khamyra stops quickly seeing Velencia’s face turning all shades of red. “I don’t think they were there in the first place, I think we were had…” she says through her teeth, in pure frustration.
Novalee knows this is not probably for her ears, she heads to the Kitchen to make some tea right quick.
The Warlock is thinking, “who gave us that intel? Was it sound?”
“Really?” Velencia says with a look that could turn fire to ice, “multiple accounts, they even had that species and races down too, who were there, what they were doing. One hell of a ruse, but what for?”
Khamyra scoffs, “to get Chance?” she says in almost a squeaky like voice.
Giving the Warlock a longer look and thinking, Velencia replies, “Maybe? But how would they know we had portals? How is there an exact portal sigil somewhere else in the realm?”
“Was it unique? The Sigil I mean. Or did you use the sigils from the Immryllion ones?” Khamyra says with a bit of curiosity.
Shaking her head, the Priestess walks a little forward thinking, “Why would I make it unique, the incantation was hard enough to manage with everything else, I didn’t even think of changing that…” She finishes rubbing her chin.
“Wonder if Chance and Shem ended up in a stinky cavern filled with Golems?” the Warlock says with a bit of whip, turning and heading for the Kitchen. She waves the Priestess on.
Chuckling a bit, “I hope not, I wouldn’t even wish that on the Chump,” she says mumbling, the High Priestess is now beside herself, not sure about anything.
Khamyra looks down, rubs her chin. “We should go get them then…” glancing back up to Velencia.
The High Priestess smirks a bit and chuckles, “to what end? They are 3-4 clicks from here, and I hate to say it, Chance can take care of himself… and with Shemrata. They are perfectly safe.”
Chance: Chan: Not kidding, there it is. Franks…
Staring at it, looking at the sign.
Chan: Let’s go, we don’t want to stay any longer than we have to
DMaster: You two walk to the entrance, they have stone walls about 3 feet and the rest rod iron. You can see and hear Horses, Shemrata hits the bell and looks around. A large rod iron fence gate in front.
Chance: Chan: make sure to keep that hood up or someone might shit themselves, Shemrata
I look around after she hit the bell to see if anyone answered. Also seeing if this is the farm Novie described when we talked
DMaster: Under her hood she gives you an odd look, sighs and nods. A man walks up, wiping his hands off. Two guards are 50 feet away walking towards him.
MAN: Closed, come back Mondalay
Chance: Try persuasion, look into his eyes.
Chan: we don’t have that kind of time my good sir, we are in need of horses now
DMaster: He stops giving you a look, about 5’10” grey hair, white dirty shirt, leather pants.
MAN: Well, it will cost you extra
Chance: Chan: That will depend on the horses you are offering…
Trying to put on as much charm as I can (rolls a 23).
DMaster: Shemrata nudges you
SHEM: We just need two horses, any kind, any type.
Chance: Nudge her back and smile
Chan: yes, yes, two horses and the equipment to ride them
DMaster: MAN: Lets see the money
He says looking through the grating.
Chance: I grab my money pouch and pull out a bunch of gold I have on me, holding back the rest
DMaster: He nods, waves on a few people and two guys armed to the teeth walk over. One looks to be in rag tag equipment, the other seems a bit more relaxed in a way, nicer weapons and in much better order. Opens the door and he grabs a torch and you guys walk in. Walking past fields and such, corrals of horses. The wind picks up a bit and the leaves and such start to fly being mid to late Autumn.
Chance: Chan: So, is your last name Franks?
DMaster: The Man still walking, nods his head.
MAN: Sure is. 3rd generation owner.
Chance: Keep walking, face flushing a bit.
DMaster: Something is nagging at you. You stop at a crossroads and look down what I am calling a “lane” that has a few lanterns lit and at the end is a gorgeous tree, in full autumn mode. It’s a ways away, but you think there is a headstone there.
Chance: Stop walking. Stare down the lane. Shit.
Chan: What is down there?
Point in that direction.
DMaster: The man stops, glances back and looks to you.
MAN: What? That Grave? My late wife Catalina.
Smiles a bit, clenches his jaw and continues walking. The guard behind you politely pushes you forward a bit.
Chance: Start walking for the grave.
Chan: Pardon me, give me a second.
DMaster: The guard stops, looks to the man and shrugs his shoulders. His hand on the weapon, just a glint of steel pulled out. Shemrata sighs loudly, puts her hands up.
SHEM: Give me a second. We are both very tired, I will get him back here in a jiff.
The large woman starts to walk for the grave as well. You make it to the stone, You see:
Catalina Franks
Master Breeder, Trainer and Beloved Wife
1st of Lacuna
Third Era, Year 297
to
22nd of Petalgreen
Third Era, Year 328
Chance: Get my emotions in check now. Lean down and look closer.
DMaster: There is a mostly dead flower sitting on top of the grave.
Chance: Reach and take the flower.
DMaster: The grave looks to be well taken care of. A bit of commotion behind you. You can hear the man “what is he doing?” You can tell Shemrata is walking up to you. Next thing you know, there is a hand on your shoulder. You are a slight bit dizzy.
SHEM: Chance, not sure what you are doing but we need horses… this is not going to get us horses.
Chance: Nod head, getting everything locked down.
DMaster: SHEM: Whoa… what, how did you…
She says quietly, then stops and tries to pull you up.
Chance: Chan: That is my mothers grave…
Say it quiet, looking down.
DMaster: The man is walking to you with a bit of a head of steam. He is shaking his head getting over to you. At first seemed angry, then he softens a bit when he gets to you seeing your eyes welling up.
MAN: No. No. She couldn’t be your mother, she was barren. We never had children.
He looks up to you, and glances at your ears.
MAN: Plus. We were both human.
Chance: Nod head, think for a moment. He must not know.
Chan: I am sorry. Been a long trip.
Glance back one more time, realizing I am no longer holding the flower. See it on the top of the grave stone.
Chan: What kind of flower is that?
DMaster: The man looks and his eyes bulge seeing a gorgeous beautiful flower that was mostly dead just 30 seconds ago.
MAN: It is an Autumn Dahlia. Someone must of replaced it, it was her favorite flower.
Chance: Eyes bulge, slowly looking to Shemrata
DMaster: The Odius is in thought like she is trying to remember something. You well up one more time before you put a clamp down on it. He smiles and you can see he is struggling a bit too. Takes a deep breath.
MAN: Anyways, come come, lets get you two some horses shall we?
His demeanor now much more warm and personable.
MAN: Listen, I have two nags, I’ll give them to you for 20 gold a piece and 3 gold for both of the tack and harnesses. I am guessing you will be selling them when you get to, where are you from?
Chance: Chan: Camerondale, sir, Camerondale.
Keep walking.
Chan: sounds like a fair deal. Can I ask your name?
DMaster: Continuing to walk
MAN: Conrad, my name is Conrad Franks. Might I have the pleasure to know yours?
Still walking along, guards seem a bit confused, especially the well dressed one.
GUA: Father. Are you sure you should be telling them your name?
He shrugs his shoulders and shakes his head.
Chance: Chan: You are his, um, son?
DMaster: Conrad lets out a laugh.
CON: I remarried a year or two after her death. We have 3 wonderful Children named…
He gets a nudge and that makes the man stumble a bit, then gives his son a angry look.
CON: Fine. I guess I am being gagged now.
Shem gives you a glance, confused and worried look.
Chance: Give her a look back and shake my head.
DMaster: DM: Condensing. Chance pays for the horses and they are let out. They say goodbye to the man and his son, then gear up for riding to the next town. A guard still lingering at the gate. Shemrata gets his attention.
SHEM: Any suggestions on the closest town?
A guard looks and smirks, Points east and says
GUARD: Well, if you want to fight through insurgents and assholes, you go that way
Chance: Chan: well, something with a little less asshole then
Still trying to gain my composure
DMaster: Shem glances to you and chuckles, as does the guard.
GUARD: Old Northport is an hour horse ride that way
He is pointing west
Chance: Chan: Thank you
DMaster: He nods and slams the rod iron gate shut, Shem jumps up on the horse. Both horses are pretty big but definitely have seen better days.
SHEM: Well, I am guessing we shouldn’t be racing these two back to Camerondale, but I think we can keep a decent pace with them.
Chance: Careful climb up on my horse knowing it isn’t Toby. Head out waiting for the questions to come from Shemrata as we ride away from the farm.
Chan: If I am not back by Thuralay, I think I will be in big trouble. But I am sure Khamyra is figuring out what to do… or not. Do they think we are dead or something?
DMaster: Shemrata laughs a bit, patting her nag on the side. Glances up.
SHEM: No. I am sure your wife already scryed for us or something. I half expect to meet them halfway home riding to us. Well, lets get to Old Northport.
You ride for about 45 minutes, find a small village but bypass it and you arrive at a decent size town, on the shores of the Othellian Sea. Its about mid 30’s pretty clear sky and a brisk wind.
SHEM: Must be Old Northport
Chance: Nod head.
Chan: I need a drink and hopefully a nice bed. Before we figure out which way to head back towards home
DMaster: Shemrata gives you a strange look. She jumps off her horse as you do and walk it to the stable.
SHEM: South Chance, we head south. Pretty easy to figure that out.
She shakes her head a bit.
Chance: Sigh loudly knowing my mind is scrambled eggs right now.
DMaster: SHEM: What was that back there? How did you make that flower… well, fresh again?
Chance: Give her a side-wards glance.
Chan: What? I did what?
DMaster: She stops you and looks into your eyes.
SHEM: Chance. You had that half dead flower in your hand, It glowed for a short time and it suddenly looked like it was just picked.
Chance: Think, rack my brain. Shake head.
DMaster: SHEM: Wow. Alright then. No drinks for you tonight.
She says with a bit of whip to it. Still walking and waiting for the stable hand to open a gate.
SHEM: Your mothers grave?
The creature says with a chuckle.
Chance: Nod head.
Chan: That was her grave. I know it. My real mother said my biological mothers name was Catalina Franks. Was in the Summer Isles for health reasons, I guess she was having issues with stress.
Take a deep breath, still waiting for the gate.
Chan: She met some half Augustian Elf that was on the island for work, I guess. They hit it off…
DMaster: Shemrata’s eyes getting bigger and bigger.
SHEM: They. Really. Hit it off, eh?
Chance: Nod head.
Chan: Out I popped. I guess she didn’t worry to much thinking she was barren. But she gave it up to a married couple – my real mother, the one that raised me and I for one could not be happier about that.
Smile wide.
DMaster: The gate finally opens and you drop off the horses, pay a copper and head to the town. You don’t walk too far when you find an Inn called “The Blushing Boar Inn.”
Chance: Chan: keep that hood up Shemrata, so we don’t scare anyone
DMaster: She sighs, stops you.
SHEM: You keep saying that like I am some daft twit, I’ll race in and start dancing for coins or something. (pauses,) We should just get some food and head straight to our rooms, just in case
Chance: Stop the Odius.
Chan: You are right, we need to play it safe. I’ll go in, get the rooms and order food. Once the food comes I’ll give you the key and food and you can head up to the room straight away.
DMaster: DM: Condensing. Chance heads in, grabs two rooms, two mugs of ale and two plate fulls of Beef strips and Tators. It is 1 gold, 5 silver for rooms and dinner. Gives the key, mug and plate to Shemrata and she heads up the stairs. As does Chance.
Chance: Close the door. Sit down at the table, eat my food. Drink the Ale.
DMaster: It tastes terrible. The only decent thing is the tators.
Chance: Walk to a window, open it, glance down, if no one is there, dump the ale. Is there a water barrel?
DMaster: No, but there is a large basin with what looks like fresh water. The window is over an alleyway of sorts, another building close to it, not much of a view. But a nice breeze.
Chance: Dip the mug into that, take a deep drink, then walk back to the window. Look out and gather my thoughts.
DMaster: A slight light flashes in the room. You sense who it is.
Chance: Look down, sigh.
Chan: What do you want, Edwin?
Not looking over but looking back out over the town, so I don’t lose my shit. Get myself under control.
DMaster: Surprised.
EDW: How did you…? Well, never mind, good evening Champ
Chance: Try to remain calm
Chan: What is it. It has been a long day… a long, fucking, day.
Slowly shaking my head, still looking out.
DMaster: He looks fidgety and nervous
EDW: I have some information to reveal. But, no one knows I am here right now.
Chance: Glance over to him, clamp down any frenzy.
Chan: Wrong. I know you are here, unfortunately… and by the way. Interflow Gardens? Really?
Stand straight, frowning giving him a look.
DMaster: He looks around a bit ashamed.
EDW: I know, I know. The underearth is shielded from me, for the most part. It was all I had on that.
Looks around nervously again.
EDW: I must hurry.
Chance: Raise an eyebrow
Chan: Out with it.
DMaster: He nods
EDW: About three quarter days horse ride south of here, there will be a road you must go down, it will bare to the west.
Chance: Chan: I hope so, baring East would put us in the Othellian Sea.
Giving him a blank stare.
DMaster: EDW: It will lead you to a cave. When you get there, you will know what to do.
He says, looks around nervously, yet again.
Chance: Chan: I am going in alone, great.
eyebrow raised again.
DMaster: He shrugs his shoulders.
EDW: I don’t know. But, you need to go there.
He nods to you.
EDW: Thank you, I have to go now
Chance: Frown and give him a scowl.
Chan: before you go, one thing.
DMaster: He stops a bit frantic, looks to you.
Chance: Chan: Since you know everything that happens. How did we teleport to a smelly cave far in the North East of Legon? How is that even possible.
DMaster: Edwin tilts his head, his eyes flicker oddly and then looks back to you.
EDW: All I know is a, Sahuagin? I am not sure I am pronouncing that right, a woman, Priestess of sorts? I see her writing something in the middle of the cave. Then you guys popping in there minutes later.
His head snaps back, eyes big.
EDW: Got to go!
A quick flash of light and he is gone.
Chance: Shaking my head. wow, no real answers, but more questions. Typical Edwin. Sit on the bed, lay back and ponder before I close my eyes.
DMaster: You fall asleep
Sundalay (Sunday) 7:00 AM
DMaster: DM: Rolls a 7 for sleep. Not bad. You wake up with a knock on your door. It’s Sundalay no crier.
SHEM: Lets go you sack of potatoes
Chance: Grumble, lean up.
Chan: Yes. yes. Getting going. We have things to do
Getting geared back up and head out of my room and turn the keys back in. Waiting until we are out of the Inn and earshot range of anyone to talk to Shemrata
DMaster: She throws you some weird jerky
SHEM: I picked this up at that village, hopefully it is not rat.
Chance: Catch it and look at her. look around, sniff it.
Chan: I guess this will have to do. Shemrata. I had a visitor last night
DMaster: Gives you a wild look.
SHEM: Really? Aren’t you married? Khamyra will have your ass…
Chance: Give her a “really” look.
Chan: not that kind of visitor!
smirking, shaking head.
DMaster: You guys are getting on your horses, trotting them out of the stables.
Chance: Look around again.
Chan: Edwin, the historian
Seeing if Shemrata knows who that is
DMaster: While you are talking she pulled out a parchment, and is looking at it. She then glances over,
SHEM: Who?
Chance: I quickly explain just who Edwin is, getting the horses to the road.
DMaster: She looks really confused, nods her head.
SHEM: Wow. This guy knows everything that has happened, like everything?
Chance: Nod head, then give her a look.
Chan: In excruciating detail. I can explain more later about him, but he had a message.
and go on to explain in detail what was said in the visit
DMaster: She is staring at you
SHEM: Some glowy creature tells you to go find a cave… in the middle of the night. And you just do it? I guess… I mean.
She shakes her head even more confused.
SHEM: Then tells you that the jiggly titty Sahuagin drew the symbol on the cave floor for no apparent reason?
She looks at the jerky she is about the finish, and smirks
SHEM: This is some really good jerky, what the fuck is in it?
Chance: Scoff – chuckle.
Chan: well there is always a reason I end up somewhere, and I guess this just proves it.
Shaking head, spurring the horse on to a trot.
Chan: He isn’t some creature. You could consider him Animax’s right hand man in ways. We are going to follow directions and head the way Edwin said to go, as much as I wanted to go home just to give Velencia some shit, this seems to be way more important.
DMaster: She nods.
SHEM: Sure. I don’t have anything going on.
Chance: Chan: Then let’s ride and see where we end up
Smirking & chuckling
Chan: welcome to the world of being a do-gooder
DMaster: Before you get going to far, she rides close to you, hands you a parchment. Yells a bit so you can hear.
SHEM: Makeshift map, looks pretty easy, a little west and take the road heading south. We will go by the buried castle of Finster in a day or so. I did not see any road “baring” west though…
Chance: Shrug shoulders, hand the map back. Sigh thinking about how much shit I am going to get into when I get back. Shake that off thinking Edwin came to me on his own, which is baffling, so it has to be pretty important for him to do that.
DMaster: you ride for 4 hours, nothing but a few people, a merchant or two and some guards that payed you no mind. You ride again for 4 hours and you eventually find the road leading west… It’s about 4:00 PM
Chance: Stop look to Shem, then take the road leading west
DMaster: SHEM: So this is the road huh?
There is a town a little ways in, you quickly stop to grab some food from a make shift store, iron rations. Fill up the water skin, take a piss. Only took 5 minutes, and off you go.
Back In Camerondale
Khamyra walks into the Kitchen to see Novalee drinking tea, chit chatting with Velencia. Some old story about how the Blonde Elf got started with Finster.
“Morning sunshine,” the High Priestess says with a smirk, “thanks for letting me stay over, trying to get out of this fortress of a city last night would of proved difficult.”
The Warlock nods, smiles and grabs the mug of Tea Novalee has ready all the time for her. Takes a slug.
The morning goes on, and Khamyra finds a fragment of a gem, places it on the map she has open on the main entry ways table, and is reading through a hap hazard book that has pages practically falling out, hastily written notes and diagrams.
Velencia tilts her head and furries her brow, “uh, what is that? Don’t tell me that is your Grimoire?”
The Onyx Elf nods her head, “well, when magic was banned, I didn’t really feel the need to have one, but I am now trying to compile all my notes and such into one place… so I don’t have to tear apart my home every damn time to find something,” she finishes off in a semi-rant.
The High Priestess gives her old friend a look and a soft smile, “we should work on that. Let’s make a complete Grimoire.”
Khamyra nods, and looks to the map. She puts her hand over the map and says “hitta persuna, mozog, Chance Axion.”
Novie made her way out and is eager to see where her Champion is.
The gem slowly twirls a bit, an inch off the map. Moves to a location, on the main land, a good distance from a town called Old Northport on the edge of the Othellian Sea and drops.
A big smile and relieved sigh escapes the Warlock, and she smiles, “this should last for a good hour before it dissipates, meaning the fragment should follow their every move.”
“That’s my girl,” Velencia says, with a proud undertone and a smile.
Novalee walks over and is looking at it, she gets real close and she giggles, “I think it moved a little, oh! It moved again!”
Khamyra gives the cute elf a wack on the butt seeing her bent over and walks to the Priestess. “So what now?”
The look on the woman’s face made Khamyra grab her hand and walk her to the Office, then closing the door.
“Hun, whats up?” the gorgeous elf says, raising an eyebrow.
She is quiet for a minute, looking about the room that was quite the mess, “I would never tell this to anyone else, but you. So please…”
“Not a word to anyone,” the Warlock says interrupting the Priestess.
Dipping her head, “what am I doing? That sigil issue really threw me. I tested that mother fucker 100 times,” now shaking her head a bit, sitting down in the chair by the desk.
“Finding out there was no hide out?” shaking her head even more, “is making me question things more… but mostly, I am questioning myself? I don’t have the luxury of making mistakes, I…” she went to continue, but gets interrupted.
Khamyra walks and squats down in front of the Priestess, lifts her chin and smiles, “I know the feeling hun, boy, do I know the feeling. But you do have the luxury of a mistake or two ok? No one is perfect, there are always going to be snags… your track record is astounding. This is the first time in as long as I can remember that you stumbled a bit.”
A warm look, soft smile and a gaze into the Onyx Elfs eyes just makes Velencia relax and sigh. Man she is a fucking hottie, she thinks to herself.
“You just have to deal with my husband when he gets back,” she finishes off with a chuckle.
The day moves on and Velencia leaves. After dinner Khamyra casts the spell again, and was distracted by the Kids fussing.
Novalee has an odd look on her face, “uh Khamyra? I don’t know what is going on with this? He is way off the road…”
Khamyra turns with both kids now in her grasp, walk over to Novalee who’s face is almost pinned to the map, “they are off the road, there is no road where they are and… why is it starting to glow?”
The Onyx elf just shakes her head slowly, “great, just flipping great, what now?” Trying to say it somewhat calm with the kids in her hands.
Chance: Making sure as we ride along the horses are good, knowing they aren’t of Toby quality.
DMaster: SHEM: So where is this cave thing supposed to be?
She says as you pass by a small settlement of sorts, just a few people milling about.
Chance: Looking around as we ride.
Chan: He said to follow this road to a cave? Once I got there, I would know what to do.
DMaster: She nods, you are riding, the sun is setting across the higher hills and small mountains that are to your west. You are in a valley of sorts, but it is pretty wide.
Chance: Chan: lets just hope this cave doesn’t lead somewhere undesirable
Chuckling
DMaster: SHEM: Yeah? That’s funny?
Saying that with a bit of whip. You can now see a cave, the sun is far enough down where there are shadows spanning across this small valley.
Chance: Chan: guess that is the cave he spoke of.
Pointing as I see it coming into view
DMaster: Shemrata gets off her horse, then grabs your reigns
SHEM: I’ll take care of the horses.
Chance: Chan: Are you not coming with me Shemrata?
DMaster: She glances over, a bit surprised.
SHEM: uh. Sure?
She ties up the horses and walks to you
Chance: Chan: Thank you. I feel much better with you by my side than alone this time. Unless it gets too crazy, then get your ass out of here as quick as possible
DMaster: You can hear her softly ticking
SHEM: Never, you are my Champion and I need a good tussle
She wrinkles her nose
SHEM: That. Didn’t sound right.
Chance: Shake head, smirk. Draw Silent Fate and take out my shield as we approach the cave thinking, we just tussled yesterday… but whatever. Unlatch and slam helm down on my head
DMaster: It is pretty big, you can see inside and it appears empty. Your dark vision playing a bit of tricks with you, but for the most part it just looks to be an empty cave.
Chance: Go Champion as we stand at the entrance
DMaster: DM: Rolls a 19 for perception.
You know that you have to enter
Chance: Nod my head thinking, guess I better go in. Slowly walking in.
DMaster: Soft ticking in your ear,
SHEM: I’m right behind you
Chance: Walk into the cave and look around
DMaster: As you walk in, it is empty. It is about 80 feet deep, around 60 feet wide. The roof of the cave is about 15-20 feet. The walls are pretty smooth. No other entrance or exit that you can see.
Chance: See where I am being pulled to and follow my “feeling.”
DMaster: Nothing much telling you, a few steps more in and some quick flashes, a shutter or two. Reminds you of Lady Charota’s Scatter Lynx.
SHEM: Whoa!
Walking in further you can see what looks like a coffin of sorts, right in front of you.
SHEM: How’d you do that?
Chance: Turn back to look and see if Shemrata is still with me.
Chan: I had some components, a spell book, a few symbols and said the word “flippy flap batter jack” and it appeared
Finishing that off with some whip.
DMaster: She is, about 5 feet behind you, her eyes a bit wide wanting to laugh or punch you. You are not sure yet.
SHEM: What the hell is that?
Chance: move closer towards the coffin, getting almost right up to it.
Chan: Coffin Shem, a Coffin.
DMaster: It starts to glow a little amidst the Odius little grunt.
SHEM: Should we open it?
Chance: See if my feelings are telling me to open it
DMaster: Not sure, it’s stuffy in the room… but you think why else would I be there?
Chance: I touch what I think would be the lid
DMaster: It instantly slides open and the lid falls to the ground. Shem jumps back and starts to tick
SHEM: Oh shit, it’s on… what’s in there?
Chance: Instantly throw shield up in front of me, then look up from over my shield
DMaster: Out crawls a woman, naked as a jaybird. Stunningly beautiful, almost has a glow about her. Blonde hair, radiant blue eyes, about 5’6″ and a near perfect figure.
Chance: Backing up a bit, eyes getting big seeing her
Chan: Wish all coffins would spit out a hot naked chick…
Mumble that.
DMaster: Shem scoffs a bit, then giggles. The woman stumbles to the ground, she is shaking her head.
SHEM: Well shit… a little girl?
Chance: Go to her carefully, look down on her. Offer my hand to help her up.
DMaster: She looks up, her soft smile fades looking you over in your armor. Your hands connect and her eyes bulge. She quickly scoots back to the edge of the cave and looks up with some dust kicked up. Now frantic and a bit scared.
SHEM: Awww, you scared it man.
Chance: Take off my helm, latch it. Give her a small smile, hands out nonthreatening.
DMaster: She is looking you over.
WOM: I was supposed to meet Chance Axion.
Chance: Shaking head,
Chan: uhhh why would I be sent here for this? (pause,) How do you know my name?
Looking at her
DMaster: SHEM: You two know each other?
She nods, she is a bit wobbly but uses the cave wall to stand.
Chance: Chan: Just how do you know about me? My name?
I move a bit closer to get a better look at her
DMaster: She really seems off put by you.
GIRL: I was told you would retrieve me
Chance: Chan: I what? I was?
Look back to Shem and then back to the girl.
Chan: and just where am I supposed to take you?
DMaster: GIRL: To…
she stops thinks, then looks up
GIRL: Someone named Rosalinda?
Chance: My head snaps instantly
Chan: That… that, ain’t going to happen.
Looking down clenching my jaw.
DMaster: Shem scoffs and pulls back a few feet
DMaster: GIRL: Oh?
A look of worry washes over her face, at least more than she had before.
GIRL: So you are not Chance?
Chance: Shaking head, glance to her.
Chan: I am Chance, but we can’t deliver you to her.
DMaster: Shem chuckles again.
SHEM: She ded girl, she ded
GIRL: What?!
Her face gets even more pale, eyes wide
Chance: Back up a bit, sheath my sword
Chan: Yet another random, aim in that direction, with nothing to go on, fucking Edwin.
Looking down feeling my face flush
DMaster: GIRL: Edwin? The Historian?
Chance: Glance back to her, nod my head.
Chan: He was the one who sent me.
DMaster: She looks confused.
GIRL: Then who is the High Priestess now?
Chance: Chan: If you mean in Camerondale, it is Saundra. Saundra is now the High Priestess
Still looking down stunned
DMaster: She shakes her head a bit
GIRL: I know of no Saundra.
Chance: Chan: Yeah, you will know what to do
Say that imitating Edwins voice.
Chan: How does he even have a job…
DMaster: Shem laughs and nods
SHEM: Sorry, that was funny.
The glowing woman shutters, and wings spring out from her back. Her glow becomes more apparent.
SHEM: Holy shit!
Chance: My eyes get even bigger seeing this, unsheath Silent Fate.
DMaster: She glows and you wince a bit, Shemrata gasps, surprised and in pain. You as well, like little pins and needles are hitting you.
SHEM: What the hell was that? What the hell is this?
Chance: Give her an angry look, just a bit of light shoot out.
Chan: You might not want to do that, little girl.
DMaster: Her eyes are beaming a blue, she starts to float
GIRL: Oh… no. They must of followed you…
Chance: Chan: who followed us?
Looking around then unlatch helm, plunk it on my head.
DMaster: You and Shem turn around too to see darker figures, creatures walking into the cave entrance
