First Five Written Out
The Priestess of Finster just finished telling the group that Varow is after Khamyra because she has available mana to extract.
Everyone stops what they are doing and looks towards the High Priestess, who is dressed in black, a light flowing gown, a vest with a push up bustier and a smirk on her face.
“Uhh, what now…?” The Champion starts to utter, but Velencia puts her hand up to stop him.
After the initial shock, everyone gathers around the dark haired tattooed woman who has stopped at a nice table with the refreshments. She grabs the pitcher, pours some wine and then takes a deep drink.
Velencia gives the Warlock a look and a bit of a frown, “wish I had better news for you brown eyes, it seems Varow can extract mana, and keep it for his own. Since you have more mana than anyone on Legon, he can feel it, sense it and he evidently wants it,” the Priestess says looking everyone over.
Khamyra stops her, “but from what I understand, everyone has mana, why not just take 10 unsuspecting chaps and extract it from them?”
Velencia shakes her head, “That would make sense initially, but if someone has not touched their mana, ever attempted to use it, it is not available for extraction, so to speak,” She finishes out.
Khamyra’s mother, who always seems to be dressed between a warrior and being a lady. She has a leather style top, tight fitting, elegant blouse underneath, with some greeves you might mistake for pants, and tall shit kicking boots on. Now with a bit more worry on her face, chimes in, “so someone like me, he would not be able to extract this “mana” because I have never attempted magic. Though it is there in theory, it can’t be reached because it’s… unignited, so to speak?”
The Priestess gives her a smile and nods her head, appreciative of the woman’s intelligence. “That’s it, and with Finster’s gift to you, Khamyra, you are brimming with Mana. It’s like a roasted boar is to a barbarian.”
Khamyra’s mother shakes her head, “this is all too much, it really is. This is what you wanted when you started down this path ra-ra?”
The Warlock quickly got dressed in a simple blouse type top, some skin tight darker leather pants and some sensible boots. Her hair up in a pony tail showing off her wonderful cheekbones and radiating big brown eyes. She lets out a sigh, stands up straighter and looks at her mother. “Just another day in the life…” she then starts giving her fiance a loving look, “we have been so busy dealing and working with our Lord, I guess it was only a matter of time things moved away from him and to us.”
“A day in the life?!” Kerenza exclaims, “no one should have this as a daily occurrence in their life! This is what you really wanted?”
Velencia scoffs and chuckles a bit, and looks over to Kerenza.
Khamyra’s mother’s eyes flash with anger, the woman boldly walks over and confronts the High Priestess, “and you? Always seem to be at the heart of it. The Inked Scourge of the East, they call you. I wonder what other lovely nicknames you have…”
The Champion who is half in his new outfit that he bought a few weeks back, to fit in, has a simple shirt on, with a elegant vest on, some leather pants and his favorite pair of shit kicking boots. Chance’s heart leaps into his throat thinking of all the nasty things Velencia could do, but was floored to see the evil woman with a soft smile and a meaningful look.
“I have been called many things, including the butthole of Finsters power,” she says with almost delight, a small evil smirk across her face, “and I do not ask for forgiveness for anything I have done. But when it comes to your daughter and her beautiful children…”
The High Priestesses demeanor changes on a dime, it makes Kerenza back up suddenly seeing literal flames dart out of the Priestesses eyes.
“No one will ever hurt them, and if they try…” Velencia’s voice turns to a reverb guttural growl, “they will burn for days in pain, suffering and cease to exist in the void…”
Everyone and I mean everyone, steps back and they all get a chill, except Chance. He could not help but smile a little, even nod to the Priestess in acknowledgement.
“By Animax on high, you are a piece of work…” Kerenza says, shaking her head with wide eyes.
Khamyra walks to the Priestess, exchange glances and embrace.
“I would defend the Priestess with my life, though she can more than handle herself,” the quarter-elf blurts out in response.
The Warlock lets out a big sigh, looks up to Velencia who has a playful smirk on her face.
Cullen has finally made his way back from where the Lady Charota followers were. The historian has his usual brown leather outfit with some oversized connecting belts across the front, darker leather pants and some sensible boots. He has a book in hand, he stops at a table, puts it down and starts leafing through it.
“Cullun my dear man, I do believe you need to visit my war room,” Velencia says with a bit of smirk to her voice, “I am not sure you would ever leave.”
He looks up to give her an odd look and see’s Khamyra and Chance nodding their head emphatically. He looks back down to the book, “working on portals my Priestess?”
Chance and Khamyra’s head snaps to the tattooed woman as a small smile and a sigh escapes her mouth. “Yes Historian, thank you for pointing that out to everyone.”
The older man stops leafing through the book, glances back up to her, “this is to be a secret?”
She nods her head a bit, “I have to reverse engineer the incantation. It is beyond complex, the most intricate, confusing and well designed spell I have ever dealt with.”
“I can help Vel, I mean hello? Warlock?” Khamyra responds a little bit hurt by the omission.
Velencia shakes her head, “no brown eyes, I don’t want you anywhere near blood magic understand? You and that kind of spells don’t mix, they…” she tried to continue but gets interrupted.
Chance butts in forcefully, “blood magic, really? Want another Summer Island event to happen again? You talk about “me” never listening or learning, I swear…”
Velencia, staring at the Champion with a disbelief look, wants to barb back at him, but decides against it. “No, dullwit, I am making it work without the blood, it is why it is so confusing and difficult. But it does require some testing and that involves very controlled blood magic.”
“Oh this gets better and better and better,” Kerenza blurts out walking to the middle of the open area, “we can now add blood magic to the list of wonderful things you are dealing with, that is twice as dangerous as normal magic! Why not add in, I don’t know, man eating dragons and call it a day!”
Chance, Velencia and Khamyra all glance at each other, and start to look innocent to the older woman.
Khamyra’s mother’s eyes bulge, “OK, I am now a butt of jokes because I am concerned with my daughters safety, that is just great.”
The Warlock looks at her mother until she looks back, “no Mom, we’ve met Dragons before, a couple of Air Dragons I might add. They are gorgeous, white with that blue radiating underneath…” she gets interrupted by Velencia.
“The way they flew, by Finster, it was like they stood still for a split second and…” the Priestess continues, than slaps her hands together, “bam! Off they go! It is amazing.”
Kerenza sighs very loudly, thinking they are either totally playing with me, or this lifestyle is worse than she thought. The older Onyx Elf looks over the beautiful surroundings, such a stark contrast to the woman who lives here, she thinks to herself. “This is absolute folly. Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer I suspect,” she mumbles.
By then Rawek has made his way back and it still sets Khamyra’s mother a bit off watching the birdman shuffle through the area. His ratty robe he always wears, barely keep his head under the hood but the symbols on his beak have a soft blue glow to them.
“I fear their appearance is going to set off more than a few alarms for people of the area,” The Invoker starts talking about their white skinned visitors, then gets interrupted by the Priestess.
She whirls around and shakes her head, “yes, they can stay with me for as long as they want. I would love to get as much information out of them…” Velencia finishes off.
“No funny business,” Chance says, wagging her finger at the Priestess who gives him a somewhat surprised annoyed look.
“Chump, I would never think of such things,” she finishes with a smirk, chuckle and turn back to the mug. She takes another long drink, finishing off her wine.
Khamyra walks to the Champion and they look at Velencia. She is not acting her usual aggressive bitchy self.
Shaking her head, the Warlock starts in, “out with it Velencia, I can feel you ready to burst.”
The High Priestess lets out a laugh and glances over her shoulder at the Warlock, “you my dear, are right. Let’s take a ride, Rawek can keep an eye on the pasty ones.”
Kerenza walks to her daughter and leans in talking softly, “does she give everyone some sort of nickname that is demeaning?”
A small giggle erupts from the Warlock, she just nods her head and follows the group back out of Velencia’s compound.
They all get on their horses, Velencia’s was placed around a corner of a large cascading hill. Hidden for the immediate world outside.
After about a 10-15 minute ride you once again pass by what looks to be an excavation site, and some construction going on.
“I was wondering what this was?” The champion says getting off his horse.
Velencia shakes her head, “but you never investigate do you? Just let everyone else do the…” she continued but Khamyra cut her off.
“Soo, what is this then,” the Warlock says loud and meaningful, to get the two out of what was bound to be an insult fest.
The High Priestess walks out, stands in the middle and turns to the group.
“Welcome to the first Temple of Finster on Legon!” she says putting her hands out, in a fantastical way, a huge smile on her face.
Kerenza’s face drains of blood and looks almost sick. Khamyra’s eyes light up, walks toward the Priestess and Chance just looks around and shrugs his shoulders.
To the one side they can see a mound of what looks to be dead spiders. The other side looks like huge stone bricks that will most likely be for the temple. Straight ahead is 20-25 workers pulling out dirt and stone from a huge hole in the hillside. There is already a making of a large overhang and two pillars reaching up to meet it. It has to be 25 feet in the air. The sounds of talking, yelling, stone work and other things echo off the little valley that they are in.
“I chose this location because era’s ago, and I do mean era’s, there once was a temple to some forgotten god. I made sure it wasn’t the nasty wench either. I believe it was the first god of evil,” she says, eyes turning to slits accompanied by a big smile.
Kerenza scoffs a little, “not forgotten, and only about an Era and a half, Atticus, the night assassin… not exactly someone you want to be following in the footsteps they set,” she finishes with a scoff.
Everyone looks at her, wide eyes.
“Mom? How do you know that name, hell I didn’t know that name really,” Khamyra starts looking over to her mother.
Giving her daughter a disapproving look. “Listen hun, I’ve been on Legon for a long long time. I have seen, done and heard a lot of things.” she finishes but then decides to continue, “Atticus was a coward, a night assassin. Evil as the night is black but from the history and legends he would run and hide at the first sign of trouble. It’s probably why he was destroyed.”
The five of them are all standing around looking at the older Onyx Elf.
“She is not wrong,” Cullun starts in, “he wasn’t cast out either. Like Kerenza said, everything I have read about him, which is not much unfortunately, was that he was destroyed and with that, magic was all but doomed.”
Kerenza has an inquisitive look on her face and walks closer to Cullun. The Historian notices and gives her a glance and a smile.
“Magic was doomed,” she starts with a question like tone, talking at Cullun, her brow furries a bit, “but it was still possible. I don’t understand why magical based things just went away… it all but disappeared.”
He nods his head giving her a thoughtful look, “a lot of the issue was the day to day, the usual attention to magic suddenly stopped. The many things that required interaction was not getting it. They faded and faded quick. Then, in my theory, it is self preservation kicked in for anything alive. Only so many times it can fail, fail badly before you just shut it down. Like how the entire known realm banned magic…”
Kerenza nods her head in understanding and smiles at the Historian.
During that time, the group heads in a bit closer and Velencia gushes about the plans. She even brings over schematics and blueprints for the place. After about a half hour…
“I just can’t wait for this to be finished, I am so excited for this,” the Priestess says with wide eyes, “to start up regular worship services, and, and…”
She stops to see everyone looking at her. Velencia smiles knowing she is blabbering, “I will see you all later than, I will let you know if I find anything else from the pasty ones.”
Khamyra and Chance don’t budge, still giving Velencia the raised eyebrow, we are not buying your BS look.
“What?” she says in a half laugh, “what now, what do you think I am holding back?” She finishes in a shoulder shrug.
“I know that look,” the Onyx Elf responds, giving her a head nod, “there is most definitely something else.”
The Priestess scoffs and shakes her head, “am I really that transparent? Yes, well… we found catacombs, corridors about 35 feet below. When we broke through, we were surprised by giant spiders who burrow their way into a large room that had doors and hallways.”
She scrunches her nose and shakes her head.
“That did not smell good, the smell of rotting corpses and such…” she says reluctantly, “but we decided to not investigate further until…” Velencia continues but got interrupted.
Chance butts in, “it’s killing you right now, you want to go search this area this very second and find out what’s down there,” he says with a smirk, then looks back to Khamyra who is somewhat wide eyed with curiosity, “hell, I am too now that I think of it.”
Khamyra’s mother butts in, “that’s how you know it is from Atticus I suppose…” she trails off knowing this is another thing this wretched woman will drag her daughter into.
“You can all join me tomorrow if you wish. It will be fun!” Velencia says with an unusual chipper-ness to her voice.
The Champion shakes his head, “what happened to a vacation?”
Then the Priestesses eye turns to Chance and her normal demeanor returns as quickly as it disappeared, “your brain is on a permanent vacation, isn’t that enough?”
Surprisingly Kerenza bursts out in a chuckle, then cups her mouth, wide eyed.
Chance just shakes his head, turns and heads for the horses.
Velencia and Hamza head back to her hold, Chance, Khamyra, Cullun and Kerenza head back to the house.
Khamyra’s mother stays for longer, and it was a bit awkward as she is not approving to what Khamyra’s life has become. Some of her anger and disappointment directed at the Champion himself.
Some light talk about joining Velencia in the catacombs happens. It is apparent Khamyra really would like to go and look through the ruins. Oddly enough, Kerenza had interest too.
The day moves on after the departure of Kerenza, and the couple spend some well deserved time with their kids. Cullun cooked some dinner, his only dish he can cook; “Teeter Winds Pie” he calls it, and it was, well… it was different. Everyone was polite enough to eat it, and at least it was palatable.
Everyone settles in for the night, the couple put their kids to bed with the help of Sisse, and they head to bed.
Freya (Friday) 7:00 AM
Turn Based Starts Here
DMaster: CRY: My mother had morning sickness “after” I was born… get up you lazy shits!
Khamyra is still fast asleep, the crier did not wake her.
Chance: Get up and do the normal morning routine.
DMaster: DM Condensing: You get up, get the kids going. Sisse makes it up there and helps. By then Khamyra gets her ass out of bed. Heading down you see Novalee has a simple breakfast (porridge) and tea / beanwater, etc. After a quick bite, you get cleaned up, get in some decent clothes, grab your gear, sword, dagger, money, etc. You are on the edge of the Kitchen, looking at everyone finishing up their breakfast including the kids.
Chance: Give Khamyra a loving look once she fully wakes up
DMaster: ummm, ok. She is shoveling porridge in her mouth.
Chance: Chan: I am going to take a quick trip to Camerondale, I shouldn’t be gone too long so if you want to get with Velencia today, we can.
DMaster: She nods, then her eyes perk up. She swallows her mouthful (no joke, but I want to).
KHA: Oh yeah, your new armor!
Chance: Smile and nod my head.
Chan: Can’t wait to retire old ugly. It is getting a bit raggedy too.
DMaster: NOV: We have a housewarming party tomorrow for Griff and Ren. Maybe grab something for them…?
Chance: Chan: I will see what I can find in town for that as well.
Giving the elf a small smile
DMaster: You walk out and get hit with a wall of humidity. Mostly cloudy, some peaks of blue sky and the sun, very humid and about 90 degrees. Barely any wind at all.
Chance: Pat Toby and lead him out of the pen. Then saddle him up, ride to town, take him to the stable and head in to the City.
DMaster: You get to the city, pay a copper and head in. DM Condensing: You make it to the Armorer who recognized you. The armor fits well, not like an Ara type armor but it will do; it is better than your last, by a long shot. The shield matches perfectly and looking at yourself… you look damn good. The armor metal is of mournlode, a very hard strong metal. It comes with a metal breast plate, pauldrons, some bracers and greeves. The rest is a dark hard leather. You pay for the rest of the armor, and he throws in (2) free repair kits (DM NOTE: After a battle with armor damage, the PC can take 1 hour time and a kit and repair it back to its former glory).
Chance: Then go find something for a house warming. A nick nack shop. Wait, I will go to the open market in the city, there is bound to be things there.
DMaster: Good idea. You make it there, browse a bit, and you enjoy seeing the artisans of the great city. After talking with a cute girl you charmed a bit, she said a potted plant, a nick nack or two and maybe a book would be good for a gift. You spend 2 gold and get just that, a potted plant, a few nicknacks and a book. The nicknacks are wrapped already.
Chance: Take my sacks (no jokes here either) head to the stables and ride home.
DMaster: It was a nice ride albeit a bit awkward trying to align your huge sack, (jokes? maybe?) with your armor in it. You get home.
Chance: Unhorse, put Toby in, take off his saddle quick. Then head inside, looking for Novie
DMaster: Before entering you can hear people talking, laughing and what seems to be a decent amount of people inside your home. Upon entering; Novie is at the table with Khamyra’s family who is all here. They are playing with the kids, drinking tea, chit chatting, it sounds very nice in the house. Laughs, conversation and children giggling.
Chance: Give them a quick wave, make my way upstairs and place the bundle or armor near my side of the bed. Then make sure I look decent and head down. I put the housewarming gifts on the bookshelf.
DMaster: You get down to the bottom floor and it is a packed house. They look over to you and greet you. Everyone in the room:
There is Kerenza, Khamyra, Kigrial, Khimzyd, Landon, Dash, Novalee, Cralon, Krishana, and Sisse. (in order)
Chance: greet everyone in return as they greet me. Still feeling nerves being around her mother. I will just go and make small talk with everyone.
DMaster: KER: Well, are we going?
Khamyra looks at her mother’s raised eyebrow, now that it is getting later in the morning.
KHA: I’m not sure mom, I was just thinking me and Chance will go.
Her mother is shaking her head.
KER: No, I want to go too. The others can stay and keep an eye on the kids with this Novalee, Dash and wherever Cullun is.
KHA: At his shop, working.
Chance: As Khamyra and her mom are talking I will go upstairs, putting on the armor so as to avoid conflict
DMaster: Halfway through you getting the new armor on, Khamyra makes her way up. Her eyes go big looking at you.
KHA: Ohhhh shit, hun… that is some serious armor
Her eyes are big, and you think she drooled a little.
Chance: Chan: I saw the way the guardian looked. Finster mentioned once that I need to be his beacon, his light to his dark. Dressing like I lost a bet in a game of knucklebones was not cutting it.
DMaster: She’s looking it over, helping you finish putting it on and of course as tradition dictates, copping a feel.
Chance: Keep my flopper under control.
Chan: time for me to embrace being his Champion
DMaster: KHA: You haven’t yet? I think that ship sailed a while ago. You just want to look badass like that elven twerp.
She takes off your lower pauldrons and greeves (does not affect your AC) This will be cooler for the hot day outside.
Chance: Grab my shield, pull up my hood and give her a look
Chan: So what do you think, love?
DMaster: She stops and looks. The Onyx Elf has a big smile on her face and she is nodding.
KHA: With the hood, it kind of reminds me of bulky Black Ward armor.
She is getting her gear on, and it still looks good, but it has a lot of repair thread and the like, it’s been through the war. She takes another look at you.
KHA: That looks amazing.
You guys are done and head down to the bottom floor.
Chance: I wont say much as we come down the stairs I want to see how everyone reacts
DMaster: Everyone looks and their jaws drop. Dash even stands up and looks you up and down, then has this slow nod of his head. The mother double takes and looks at you two in bewilderment
KER: We are just looking through ruins right? Not going to war?
Chance: Chan: Times, they be-a-changing. Can never be too careful.
Smirking under my hood
DMaster: Khamyra glances to you
KHA: Plus… it is “us” and the Priestess, shit seems to find us anywhere we go.
She chuckles
KHA: If there could be a random ghoul, it will find it’s way to us, it seems.
Kerenza is staring at her, raising her eyebrow.
KER: Ghouls?
Chance: Chan: Ghouls, just a figure of speech I guess.
Chuckle.
Chan: well as you pointed out between the smell down there, no telling what we are going to find.
DMaster: Kerenza looks blankly at you.
KER: I did what now?
Khamyra nudges you, shakes her head.
Chance: Shake my head.
Chan: Sure you still want to come with us?
DMaster: She nods her head.
KER: Yes, but you are right, can’t be too careful with, you know who, ascending and such.
KIG: Finster mum, Finster.
She waves the bigger Onyx elf off, giving her a little look. The mother turns
KER: But I’ll have to go get my armor and good weapons. I will meet you there.
She heads out the door. You and Khamyra are ready, say goodbye to everyone and head out to the excavation site.
Chance: Gear up Toby. Ride on!
DMaster: Khamyra looks a little annoyed, it being almost 90 degrees, very humid and no wind. After about 15 minutes, you get close and you see a small crowd on the outskirts of the excavation area.
KHA: Great, what is this?
Chance: Slow up a bit.
Chan: guess we are just going to have to find out now aren’t we?
DMaster: You get close and there seems to be a figure at the entrance to the little valley leading to the temple. Behind him is 5 “guards” in red robes and hoods, fully armed. Then behind them a large hooded figure pacing… In front of them there are two figures, one is smaller and has a glow to her. Another one you recognize standing next to her. Then what appears to be 3 war clerics and a few monks behind them. Horses are a few paces off them as well. It is quite the scene.
Chance: Grumble and dismount. Get my horse and Khamyra’s with the others.
DMaster: As you are walking to them you notice Hamza is the one in front of the Finster guards. You can’t hear what he says but you can hear his tone and it is thick with sarcasm. Saundra and Nay’il are standing in front trying to converse, or something; you are not sure.
Chance: Glance to Khamyra.
Chan: great, just what we didn’t need right now
DMaster: She had to stop, head back to her horse and get something from her saddlebag. Hamza looks over and smirks at you. Saundra looks, then double takes.
SAU: Chance? What are you doing here? Damn.
The Guardian whirls around and her eyes ablaze. She is in her bright platemail armor, her hair perfection, her steely blue eyes piercing, and the odd symbols on her face pulsating now. Her morning star in her right hand, shield still on her back. (DM: A Wis roll of 10 or better keeps himself under control with the blood feud Animax and Finster have in all of their heroes. He rolls a 4.) Instantly, once your eyes connect, your Champion form bursts from you, eyes beaming light, a deep guttural growl and you double your speed.
Chance: Shit, someone is going to get a beating.
DMaster: As quick as the Guardian was situating herself with you coming in, getting Saundra behind her, to protect the Priestess, you were already to her. In a fluid motion you grab her throat and lift her up, your body just radiating light and power. What you expected was the little pure blood to be scowling back, she was not. Her expression was that of fear, grabbing for her neck trying to get you off her. She is flailing around like a mouse hung by it’s tail, her morning star falls to the ground with a clank. By then, Khamyra got what she needed from her saddle and glanced up.
KHA: Goddammit chance!
Chance: Chan: You will leave this place now, never look back, never breathe of it… don’t even think of it… understand?!?
DMaster: Saundra backs up, Hamza has a big smile on his face albeit a bit surprised.
SAU: Chance, Please!!
The guardian is still flailing around. The clerics all unsheath weapons as does the “Velencia” guards. In the corner of your eye you see a few clerics gasp and back up looking past you. By then you can hear Khamyra and you start to come too. (DM: Had to roll again, with advantage with Khamyra there. He rolls a “1” first. If the Onyx Elf was not there, we might have a dead Guardian on our hands. The second roll was a 15.)
Chance: Drop the Guardian hard to the ground.
Chan: Understand?!? I’m not talking for my health…
DMaster: She is scrambling a bit, dust flying everywhere. She is coughing, and some light emanates from her, healing herself.
HAM: Hey little girl, he was talking to you.
Saundra glares at him then gives you a disappointing look. Khamyra now has her hand in yours, some energy transfers.
Chance: Step back, take a deep breath. Get under control. Take her hand.
DMaster: You see and hear Khamyra cast a spell, and a semi-transparent wall comes up between you and the Animax followers; knowing there could be repercussions. The Onyx Elf looks up to you, in a half chuckle – shaking her head.
KHA: What am I going to do with you
Nay’il has grabbed her morning star and is seething in anger. Saundra and a cleric are holding her back. Hamza wearing some rag-tag dark armor, looked to have dressed hastily. It is a dark brown hard leather with a green shirt and some basic leather pants. He walks a bit forward, huge shit eating grin on his face.
HAM: Good Morning Champion… someone piss in your porridge perhaps?
He says with a chuckle
Chance: Give him a look as I am still in champion form, trying to calm down, not really acknowledging it.
DMaster: As you are calming down, you look, you see a familiar face. She is standing by Hamza, and the clerics don’t seem to want anything to do with her. A giant of an Odius, but very beautiful in her own right. Large horns, striking eyes, symbols on her face. A firm, robust muscular body with platemail armor and to top it off, a 7-8 foot tail swishing behind her. You can see she has her hand on her whip. Shemrata takes a moment then looks to you.
SHEM: Still have a temper I see
She says with a smirk
Chance: Take a deep breath, nod. I am good now.
DMaster: With the emergence of the Odius, the Clerics and monks have stepped back to the horses, a good 15 feet away. Khamyra glances over to the Guardian.
KHA: You ok?
She asks halfheartedly. Nay’il does not respond, but it does look like she is calming down, as she is putting her Morning Star in her belt and wiping her front down from dust. Khamyra then drops the ward, and turns to look at them. Backs into you.
Chance: Put my arm around her, keep her tight to me. Breathe deep a few times.
DMaster: SAU: A simple hello would of been sufficient.
She gives you a scolding look. Khamyra scoffs a bit, kind of looks up to you.
KHA: She does have a point. The whole choking thing is so last year.
Shemrata and Hamza chuckle, and Saundra glares at her. The Animax priestess walks the Guardian over to the horses.
Chance: Walk around Khamyra and take Saundra by the hand, walk a bit a ways.
DMaster: SAU: Am I to be choked now too?
Turning, giving you a very disappointed look. As you step forward you see she is wearing a white robe, with a gold colored sashe, a large necklace of animax and some elaborate gloves. Her eyes beaming to you, hair up a bit from the heat.
Chance: Wait a second, then look up to her.
Chan: You understand the blood feud, correct?
DMaster: She nods.
SAU: But it is something that can be controlled.
You can hear Hamza approach the Animax party behind you.
HAM: We got it, you don’t like we are building a temple to our Lord, but I will tell you what my momma said before I cut off her head. Fucking deal with it you little shits.
Then you hear Shemrata laugh a little.
Chance: Chan: It’s not that easy, it can be overwhelming. I am sure she struggles with it too. You know I would do nothing to hurt you, Priestess.
Shake my head a bit, look down.
DMaster: After a few moments she looks at you, lifts your chin up.
SAU: I know. This whole, guardian thing, was thrown at me last moment. I never felt so unprepared.
Chance: Take her hand and kiss it.
Chan: Call on Edwin. He is very valuable with these kinds of things.
DMaster: Her head snaps to you after smiling at the kiss. Her eyes were huge in disbelief.
SAU: How do you even know of his existence?
Chance: Chan: Well, we are not best buds, but we have met. He is the one who can explain it to your little guardian over there.
Thumb to the pure blood elf.
DMaster: She is stunned, but the priestess nods her head. Pat your shoulder and start to walk past you.
SAU: I think I might just do that…
The Animax group finally, all geared up, rides off back to the big City. You head back to the group who is staring at you. Shemrata and Hamza give you a hearty warrior handshake. That goes for Khamyra as well.
Chance: shaking my head and look at Hamza.
Chan: Nice speech, it was heartwarming.
DMaster: He gives you a look and a smile, then chuckles. Khamyra is looking around and then to Shemrata & Hamza
KHA: What are they protesting or something? What did they think was going to happen?
They shrug their shoulders.
HAM: My guess is that they wanted to know they don’t like it and they are here or some bullshit. This is the third time this week.
You can see Shemrata now has a normal body, normal legs and she is possibly taller than you now. Her tail flailing around behind her, still ticking, still ramped up a bit.
Chance: my eyes get big seeing she has normal legs, a smile forms on my face
DMaster: It was almost simultaneous with you and the onyx elf.
KHA: Shemrata! Your.. legs!
She points
Chance: Chan: a gift from our lord, Shemrata?
DMaster: The Odius smiles wide,
SHEM: Yes, I had no idea what that vial of liquid I got at Wishbone Way was. I knew it was from our Lord, so I drank it when we got back. Our lord granted me my biggest wish, and I could not be happier about it
She does a short silly dance
Chance: Can’t help but chuckle a little seeing her do this
DMaster: HAM: Hey maybe I can go play the lyre and you can…
Hamza starts with a playful tone, then stops abruptly with a death stare from the Odius.
KHA: I am guessing Clara is stowed away nicely, she can’t be seen here right now
Chance: Chan: well glad that didn’t come to blows, thank you for the quick thinking, hun.
DMaster: Khamyra looks at you, confused a bit.
KHA: I know my pussy has complete control over you, no need for thinking.
Shemrata spits a bit then belts out a laugh. Hamza smiles wide and chuckles.
Chance: Blush and look away
Chan: Well, alrighty then.
Shake head and mumble.
Chan: Can’t really argue that point…
DMaster: You start to walk towards the entrance.
SHEM: Yeah, seeing that little shit squirm around looking like she was going to piss herself…
She lets out a laugh. Kerenza has unmounted and is now tailing close behind the group. She is in near perfect leather armor, a dark red shirt and black pants. Weapons to her side, bigger stronger boots and she has her hair pulled back as well, dealing with the humidity and such.
SHEM: I’m not going to forget that sight anytime soon
Just then Kerenza gets close, keeping pace.
KER: Did I just see some clerics ride by me back there? What did I miss?
HAM: Oh, nothing much, just the Champion here almost choking the life out of Animaxes new play toy
Chance: Shaking my head and looking down
DMaster: KER: What? You did what to what?
Her tone turned from inquisitive to angry.
Chance: Keep walking.
Chan: Must we really
Avoid looking at her at all cost right now
Chan: So can we just get where we need to go? This is not exactly a brisk winter day out here. Where is Velencia? Or we going to talk about what I just did over and over again?
DMaster: Just then the Odius stops, turns and sees Khamyra’s mother. Kerenza then, audibly shits her pants seeing the monstrous Odius
KER: By all that’s holy!
She skitters back, huge eyes. Shemrata lets out a chuckle, shakes her head.
Chance: Pull my hood down and go back to normal and give khamyra’s mom a small smile
DMaster: KHA: It’s ok mom, this is Shemrata, she is a friend and ally.
Her eyes still huge looking over this horned woman who is roughly 6’4″ has to weigh 200-210, pure muscle and a long 7-8 foot tail swishing behind her.
Chance: Chan: and someone you would want to have on your side in a fight, I might add.
Giving Shemrata a smile
DMaster: She nods back to you
Chance: Chan: So now that things have been diverted and greetings have been made, are we going to see Velencia now?
DMaster: KHA: My word, I have never heard you talk about wanting to see Velencia so much. You feeling ok?
Chance: Shake head, start walking again.
DMaster: Hamza beckons for everyone to get in the entrance, out of the “in and out” sunlight on this Humid day.
HAM: Yes, she is waiting for us inside. I am sure she is more antsy than a pussy in a dick rainstorm.
Kerenza’s mother looks at him with a raised eyebrow
KER: Pussy, dick what?
Khamyra lets out a laugh and they start to move in.
Chance: Can’t help but laugh as I walk with them.
DMaster: KER: Oh hun
She grabs Khamyra’s hand
KHA: Why don’t you have a weapon? I know you can cast those spells, but you really should have…
Before she could finish, the Onyx elf smiles, rubs her bracelet and out shoots arcane energy in her hand, crackling with energy in the shape of an assassin blade, roughly 2 1/2 feet long and looks real evil. Kerenza’s eyes bulge
KER: I swear, I am going to have a heart attack with you people
Khamyra’s mom looks genuinely spooked right now.
KHA: Sorry mum, just showing you my weapon
Chance: Chan: well then, you haven’t seen silent fate
smirking looking at her mom
DMaster: KER: I can wait for that, I can wait
She puts her hands out as she follows you into the now large hole / entrance. In the shadows you see Velencia leaning against the wall, and she is in her usual under-armor, light leather armor similar to Khamyra’s except the top area is open allowing her boobs to be pushed up. Despite hating this woman, she almost always looks impressive. The Priestess is looking at you directly. Smirk on her face
VEL: I can count the times I have been proud of the chump on one hand, and wouldn’t you know it. He ruined it with that little kiss of that precious, bimbo, priestesses hand.
Chance: Glare at her.
Chan: Religion aside, she is a good friend of mine. Keep your opinions in check, Priestess.
DMaster: VEL: Fine, fine. Just was fun to watch the little glow-girl get strung up by her throat, is all…
Hamza nods in agreement
HAM: That little glowing shitbag will think twice about coming around here again
Chance: Chan: well, it wasn’t my intent to lose my shit
DMaster: VEL: Of course not… chump. You just let me dream for a short minute, that our champion isn’t some sackless pussy that cries himself to sleep after blowing his load
KER: Jebus, what the hell is going on here…
Khamyra’s mom’s head shaking, a bit offended by the locker-room talk.
Chance: shaking my head and smirk
DMaster: KHA: Ok, ok, So we’re ready to head down?
Velencia nods, she guides you into a cavern of sorts and it ends abruptly, a torch on the far wall, a big 10 x 10 hole in the ground. There is a rope ladder attached to one side.
VEL: Everyone here that’s going to go? Hamza? Is Shem going to be ok out there?
HAM: She is a 6’4 Legion Odius with a bad attitude, ticking like a firebomb, we should be safe and sound with our guards
Chance: just looking around and wait for us to descend the rope ladder
DMaster: VEL: Kerenza? You coming?
She looks freaked, but nods her head
KER: I guess… I swear, I don’t know how you all live day to day like this
VEL: Ahhh sure thing. Lets fucking goooooooooo!
She starts to climb down the ladder, as everyone does. The rope ladder leads to the middle of a 30 feet wide staircase. To the east and west is debris and clutter. In front is dirt, brick and other distressed debris. Two torches are north east, that must’ve been put there earlier. About 60 feet in front past the rubble, you can barely see a large ornate door. Farther to the north east is an entrance that has an unholy stench coming from it. Most likely where the spiders were.
KER: Oh my, it is not pleasant down here, is it?
Chance: As we get to the bottom of the ladder I will pull out silent fate
DMaster: The NE is pretty bright, but to the NW to W is dark with only a few shadows. Velencia walks to the edge of the staircase, grabs a staff, taps the floor twice with it and a light glows at the top. A soft but powerful one, not to blind but definitely bright enough to see about 20-30ft radius
Chance: Looking around let Velencia lead the way, get my eyes adjusted.
DMaster: VEL: I looked around this room, and there is nothing, except a very ornate metal door on the north wall.
VEL:… and some bad vibes
She says kind of quiet like. Khamyra looks to her, shrugs her shoulders, Kerenza sighs loudly
Chance: look over to Velencia as to say, what now?
DMaster: KER: bad vibes for what did you call yourself? The butthole of Finsters power?
Chance: cover my mouth and snickers a bit, waiting for Velencia’s retort cause I know its coming
DMaster: VEL: yes. Yes. Like something is beyond this door, it’s not friendly, vibe.
Chance: Chan: I know regardless of bad vibes its killing you to know what lies beyond that door. So let’s have at it.
DMaster: She nods her head
VEL: Everyone ready?
Chance: Nod my head at Velencia
DMaster: DM: Condensing. Everyone is ready to go and congregates at the door. Chance finds no traps at the ornate door, but it is a nasty lock to pick. He fails all three times, losing a pick along the way.
VEL: Oh my god, you are useless
Khamyra shakes her head. She walks over, rubs a little goop on the handle, made a symbol on it and says “Zamak.” The sound of ka-ching is heard.
Chance: shaking my head wanting to say something to Velencia
DMaster: The door swings open. Chance is going to be making the “party” decision. What he does, the party is ok with, in other words, it is not just Chance to make the decisions, it is the entire party.
Chance: Grab my remaining picks and get up and peer into the open door, see what I can see before we proceed, or hear for that matter.
DMaster: DM Condensing the search: They head down a corridor and get to a spot where there are doors on the east and west wall. The party checks both doors, then heads into the east one. After some time and searching, they discover it is a kitchen of sorts. Nothing of value was found. They try the west door and find a “preparation” room for services and such. They find some silk cloth and a few odds and ends but nothing significant. They leave and head north and find crossroads. East and west lead down corridors, north heads down some stairs to two huge double doors.
Chance: Point towards the door that is ajar to the rest of the group, start for those stairs.
DMaster: Velencia gets everyone’s attention.
VEL: Hold up.
The Priestess and Warlock exchange glances.
KHA: Yeah, I feel it too
KER: Feel who or what… huh, what?
Kerenza says, and for the first time she seems uncertain, almost scared. Hamza takes out his weapon, nodding his head. Valencia’s eyes are pulsating an off orange color.
Chance: Chan: I would suggest drawing your weapons. Usually when they say “can you feel that,” it leads to trouble
DMaster: She takes out a dagger and a long dagger slowly, looking around the fairly well lit crossroads – lit by Velencia’s staff. Kerenza’s eyes bulge looking to the west
KER: Uhhh…. guys… glowing eyes
Everyone looks where she is looking and out of the darkness, almost forming with it is two wispy like entities, one is raggedy clothes in the semi transparent look, huge hands, claws like, the other seems to have armor and the like.
Chance: My head snaps immediately to the west
DMaster: DM: Rolling was not a thing tonight. I gave Chance and Velencia a shot at a history check to see if they knew what they were and they failed.
One wraith and another sword wraith come after them from the west.
Battle Written Out
Once the party knew this battle was happening they started to take notice of the constrained surroundings. The hallway is only about 10-12 feet wide and not that tall either. Velencia and Khamyra are the two closest to the wraiths. Chance and Kerenza are behind them and Hamza i the one in the back. Because of this constraint, moving past people to attack will cost an action.
Khamyra puts her hand in her pouch, squints a bit, “shit, undead!”
Without much hesitation, the Priestess fires back, “you think?”
“Kerenza, babe, not sure those weapons are going to work here…” Velencia says glancing back to the older Onyx Elf holding a nice long dagger and a normal dagger. The Priestess knows they are not enchanted, or silver so attacks would be useless.
Chance steps forward in front of her, “stay a bit back Kerenza, I will protect you.”
Hamza then softly takes Kerenza and pulls her behind him. At this point, she is so freaked out she welcomes putting more people in between those creatures and herself.
DM NOTES: Order: Velencia, Khamyra, Wraith, Chance, Sword Wraith, and Hamza.
TOP OF ROUND ONE
“Lets start this off right, shall we?” Velencia says grabbing her necklace, raising her hand and mumbling a few words. Fire immediately shoots out of her hand striking and engulfing the wraith making it shriek a bit and flail (34hp of damage). Then the inked woman rips out her Kukris and drives them into the misty apparition (11hp of damage), but it does not seem to notice as it is still dealing with the flames.
The wraith shakes off the flames and even moves past it and reaches for a surprised Khamyra, she was thinking the flames would of done it in. It grabs hold of her, and it was like a vice was pressed full throttle on her arm (21hp of damage, max HP are temporarily reduced by 21hp, she failed throw). Her eyes wide trying to rip free of the grasp she lets out a scream that startles just about everyone.
Kerenza trying to see through the mix now has her eyes bulge and her motherly instinct kicks in, “ra-ra? RA-RA?! You ok?” she says trying to maneuver to a better vantage point.
With anger growing, the Onyx Elf had her hand in her pouch already and flings it in the air. With magic in full throttle on Legon, the component just freezes in the air automatically, no wind or outside interference will bother it. She quickly traces a symbol, puts her hand out and screams “eldritch!” A few crackles and snapping sounds can be heard. The narrow hallway lights up in this weird purple hue. Three streaks of energy race of the wraith, it is hit, caught in them (28hp Killing Blow). It swirls the apparition, and with a deafening screech it dissipates into a pile of dust on the floor.
By now the Champion is already in his Champion mode, his skin is forming bark over it, and under the new powerful armor. He has to pretty much climb past the two in front to give an attack, and afterwards he drives Silent Fate into the Sword Wraith in front of him. At first it did not seem to make much of differences until the orange vein like parts of the sword, the domestistar diamond, which harbor the enchantment connect. A crackle and a snap and the Wraith recoils a bit (6hp of damage). Then he pulls it out, and slashes down hard across the apparition, again sending the sword through, takes a second and then the creature growls a bit, feeling the cut from this magical blade (14hp of damage).
The armored wraith winds up and strikes at the Champion, who puts up his shield. In theory it blocked the attack, but the weapon kind of makes its way through and chances eyes bulge seeing it pass through the shield. Somewhat confused, despite no damage, the Champion looks at his shield oddly, only to have the Wraith slash through him from one side to the other, (rolled a natty, 22hp of slashing damage, though it did not hit the armor, it was just his skin under the bark. Todd rolls poorly for the save and gets full necrotic damage, 18hp, total for 40hp.) It sends him slamming up against the wall with a loud clink, clank and crash. He shakes his head trying to refocus after that hit, still on one knee leaning on the corridor wall.
Hamza with some skill gets by a few of you and takes a dual slash at the apparition, slices through it making it recoil and growl. The weapons went through and there was a weird static like trail behind it (11hp of slashing damage, but Hamza’s natural Necrotic ability is stifled, the Wraith is resistant to that damage, so it was only 2hp additional).
TOP OF ROUND TWO
Chance has one more round with his bark, but is curious if that even matters with these kinds of opponents. All of the players are within attack range of this apparition, except for Kerenza, who has grown very very quiet.
Velencia looks around, and yells, “cover your eyes!” as she gets just in front of everyone. Her hand as high as it will go, and an extraordinary bright light beams down the hallway, engulfing the Sword Wraith, it puts its arms up to block some of it,(was not a great damage roll, 43 cut in half as it made the save 21hp of damage). Velencia, back to back big spells, she lets out a little gasp, but gathers herself quickly and slashes at the creature with her Kukris. They hit, and the creature barely notices trying to deal with the light (8hp of damage). “Dammit, I thought it would of taken a bit more with that, shit,” she says with a scowl on her face.
Khamyra giggles a little, “might as well cover your ears too,” she says as purple energy beams from her eyes. She throws some dust, traces a symbol and yells “turdent!” She braces herself, as she stepped in front of Hamza, an extremely loud snap and thunder clap is heard. It echoes throughout the corridor, and it makes Khamyra’s thoughts drift for a mere second about what her mom thinks right now. But that thought faded as she is pushed back with force and the energy wave slams into the floating apparition (18hp of damage, made dex save does not take additional force damage).
Chance pauses only for the briefest of seconds, and heals himself (10hp healed). Then he lunges to put the sword into the creature. But this time, the sword is there, but it does not do anything at all. The Wraith is recovering from Khamyra’s spell. The Champion growls and slashes through the creature, but this time bringing up its shield and deflecting the attack, much to the surprise of the large quarter elf. “Wat the hell, is it corporeal or not?”
Velencia sighs heavily, “smooth move diarrhea.”
The single minded wraith slashes as the Champion in retaliation only to have it go through the large man. Chance gets a tingly sensation but no damage. Seeing that, it turns to Hamza, and drives his sword into him, but this time connecting (18hp of damage). The Shade steps back a bit, buckles in a scowl on his face. The wraith tries to transfer the necrotic damage, but that is no dice (he made his save and is resistant to that type of damage). He grabs the sword, and it felt weird and pulls it out glaring at the Wraith who looks as confused as a ghostly apparition can be.
TOP OF ROUND THREE
Chance loses his barkskin, under his armor. The apparition is looking a bit more wavy than it did before giving Velencia the idea it is ready to go.
“Bored now,” Velencia says with sarcasm. She rips her Kukris through the apparition in a 360 degree move (11hp of damage) then she puts out her hand and grabs hold of whatever was available. A dark green energy pulses from the High Priestess to the Wraith (81hp of necrotic, makes save, 40hp of damage – killing blow). It stops suddenly, frozen. Then in bits and pieces it starts to fall down into small little piles of dust.
“Damn, that guy was a bit hardier than I expected,” Hamza says looking at his gut not seeing his armor pierced, but feeling the blood trickling behind it.
Khamyra walks to Velencia, “show off,” she says playfully giving her a soft hip bump.
Turn Based Starts Up Again
Chance: shaking my head I make my way to Khamyra and wrap my arms around her and heal the both of us.
DMaster: You are now back to full health, but Khamyra is not. Her max was reduced by 18 until 24 hours from now. ( you only have 46 points healing left)
Chance: giving her a loving look
Chan: I don’t think it is safe to keep your mom down here
whispering into her ear
DMaster: She nods her head
Chance: Chan: I mean if we encounter more of these things, Priestess, unless you have a weapon that is going to help, might I suggest we get her top side?
looking over at Khamyra’s mom
DMaster: She is not there. Velencia’s eyes are wide, almost frantic
VEL: Uhh, Kerenza? Where did you get off too?
Chance: Looking around as well
DMaster: She is not in the corridor as far as you can see. Velencia is aiming her staff, then Khamyra gets out of the dream like state she gets with you and healing, she looks around eyes widening.
KHA: What??? Vel, douse the staff let our eyes adjust!
The onyx elf makes it to the crossroads and is looking, Velencia shuts off the light
KHA: Mom?
Nothing but silence for a good minute. Khamyra is getting frantic
KHA: MOM?!
Chance: Walk over and look towards the ground see if I can see any footprints
DMaster: hard to tell south and west, that’s were the battle took place, and where you came from. DM: Todd rolls a perception and nails it with a 24.
DMaster: You calm Khamyra for a second.
Chance: Chan: Hun, hold up hold up.
bend down and look at the floor.
DMaster: There are a few scuff marks, a foot print and it seems to lead to the stairs, the door down the way is now more open.
Chance: Get up, grab Khamyra’s arm and point.
Chan: this way everyone
DMaster: Everyone makes their way down the stairs to the small landing with the ornate door, similar in looks to the entrance door. Everyone is following you now. You can tell both Vel and Khamyra are not wanting to check for traps or anything, so if you do check it is at a disadvantage.
Chance: I will make sure to keep my shield at the ready as I go to the door, peer in see if I see anymore scuff marks or foot prints
DMaster: It leads you down a 12 foot wide hallway and it opens a bit up, you can see long dragged scuff marks, like someone was being dragged. The 15 foot wide corridor bellows out to about 25 feet wide in an oval shape. To the north the corridor continues to a huge ornate double door. To the west are hooks with fine robes of various quality, the east seems to just be a broken bench and some old cushions. The drag marks lead to the ornate double doors. You can feel the party pushing to move forward quickly.
Chance: Chan: this way I see more scuff marks, I know you are both in a hurry, but let me check the door okay
DMaster: VEL: Dammit Chump, we can handle anything that’s there, lets gooooo!
DM: Todd rolls a 4. Waah waah waah.
As you stop, you are practically run into by Khamyra and Velencia.
Chance: Screw it, heading in as long as the two doors are not locked. Looking around the room as we come into it
DMaster: The doors were just slightly ajar. Walking in, it is a giant of a room. Ceilings are around 30 feet high, it has to be 100 feet wide and you can’t really see the other side, just a faint vision. There is a balled up rug under you as Velencia grabs it and throws it across the room. To the immediate left and right is broken benches or pews. Farther in is another large rug that has been disturbed and more pwes, some in good shape others not so much. But as your eyes are focusing, what you first thought was shadows or darkness, seem to move. From the other side these humanoid like entities that look like priests are walking towards you. Out from the ground pops up this very large black, semi-transparent winged apparition. Only its green glowing eyes are really solid.
VEL: You guys have me at a disadvantage here… can’t see shit!
Then a pause, as you and the people with dark vision start to comprehend what they see.
VEL: OK, I see that, everyone else seeing eyes and a misty shape?
HAM: Sure do, and I don’t like it.
Chance: Eyes go big seeing it, look to Velencia
DMaster: and what seems like people sitting in the pews, stand up and they look at you, there are at least 5 of them. Hard to focus on them, they are wavering around, like a shadow.
Battle Written Out
Order for combat: Shadow Demon, Hamza, Chance, Velencia, Death Priest, Khamyra, (5) Shadows, Death Priest
TOP OF ROUND ONE
Chance has already turned into the Champion, and his realized that he can only use his barkskin, once a day… Unfortunately his nutsack still smells like the underside of a billy goat that rolled in cowshit for a year.
The winged shadow creature was on Hamza faster than he thought possible. It racks its claws across the Shade, and much like the Wraith, the armor is intact but the skin and body are torn. He yells a little, takes a step back (24hp of damage, necrotic damage resisted).
“So, this is how it’s going to be? You can’t poison me you winged asscrack,” the shade yells at the thing, like it was paying attention to what he was saying. He rips both his thick rapier and long dagger through the apparition once, and it was like he did nothing. “Oh shit…” he mumbles, then try’s again. This time it was with much better results, making the shadowy thing shutter a bit (10hp slashing, only 2hp of necrotic).
Chance regretting his early use of the barkskin, flanks the shadow demon and strikes it through. It seemed like it was on a delay, but after a half second of going through it, some orangish-red light crackles through and the demon flinches (7hp slashing). It goes to turn to the Champion only to get a sword across it’s face (14hp of slashing damage). Just when it thought it was done, the same magical orange glowing sword gets thrust into it making its eyes flicker with anger and frustration (11 more hp of damage).
Velencia eyebrow raised a little watching the Champion strike all three times, then her heart sinks a bit knowing she wiped out 4 of her high level spells already, but she has a few left in the tank. She dips her head, grabs her necklace. She slowly lifts her head, and the Priestesses eyes are bursting with red-orangish fire. She raises her hand and above the two undead priests stop suddenly, and as though they wanted to look up, fire reigns down on them. (66hp to each, but they made their throw 33hp of fire damage). Velencia gasps a bit, steps back and shakes her head “that one took a little out of me…” she mumbles.
The one priest, still a bit on fire, puts its hand out to the other. That priest does the same towards the other. An odd sound, and a ripple of energy and it strikes the party, (a fear spell that can be cast with two or more priests. Chance and Hamza does not make their save, Velencia and Khamyra do).
Then that same priest rubs its arm, utters some odd language and points and an odd green light or maybe even liquid streaks towards Velencia, making the Priestesses eyes bulge, “dafuq is this?” It hits her and she recoils a bit (10hp of poison).
Frantic, Khamyra rubs her bracelet and her sword emerges within a second, she then rushes a priest while rubbing goop on her wrist, she slashes at the one Priest and misses. The Onyx Elf traces a symbol, and says “nividen” and poof, she disappears.
Chances eyes bulge even more, with this weird feeling in the pit of his stomach, scared and frightened… now even more worried that Khamyra just went invisible for some reason. A Shadow comes to him and was on him before he realized it. A sharp cold hand grab makes him yelp a bit (10hp damage, -4 STR temp (13 now)). He feels like he just got over being sick, weak and dizzy.
The three other shadows make their way to the party, one attacks Velencia who was ready for it. She tumbles to one side and it misses. Another grabs hold of Chance but his armor, his aura protects him and Hamza was to agile this go round. Until the last one, hiding behind another, and grabbed Velencia who lets out a yell and her eyes huge with the odd cold sensation and the strength draining from her (7hp -2 STR (now 10)).
The Priestess shocked at that experience, looks at the last second to see a staff getting swung at her. She ducks, but when she tried to get her bearings about her, the Death Priest raked it’s claws across her, unlike the others that just does inner damage, these are full on. Velencia screams stumbling back, holding her gut, blood starting (16 piercing damage, 3 necrotic). “Time to put on the big boy pants!” She yells, inbetween gasps.
TOP OF ROUND TWO
Chance and Hamza failed their fear throw. For their turn they can try and break it. Khamyra is still invisible until she attacks or gets attacked or until she stops concentrating on it.
The Shadow Demon raises up, his arm out stretched. It looks down upon you all and brings his hands forward. A dark mass, like a fast moving fog slams into the party. (Velencia and Hamza made their savings throw, Chance did not, what a puss). The Champion scared, is now also blind. Then as Velencia turns away from the fog the demon slashes her across her arms and side, just doing internal damage (12hp). In between yelling and cries in pain she is rolling her eyes hoping they will attack someone else soon, but she also realizing they must sense that she is a Priestess, and it draws them to her.
Hamza tries to break the fear, but can not. He turns and runs for the door. This allows a Priest to take a swing with his staff but he was too slow and missed the Shade.
Chance, who can’t see shit, and wants to shit his drawers tried to shake the fear but couldn’t. (Rolls for random direction and he goes north) The Champion sprints forward, the Demon tries to get a shot in, but he misjudged your speed, and misses. Chance ends up slamming hard into a pew, he frantically looks around trying his best to figure out where he is and what is happening (wishing he wore clean underwear).
Velencia finally gets to her feet. Sees Hamza taking his leave, the Champion being useless as usual and her Warlock disappearing. “Welp, looks like its just me now, just great…” Knowing her high level spells are all but gone, she rips out her dagger and slashes at one of the Priests, hitting hard ( Rolled a Natty, 20hp slashing damage) then doing a twirl move and driving both of them into the Demon, who stutters a bit and turns to her scowling (16hp of damage).
The Priestess turns and watches a staff heading her way and she tumbles to the side avoiding the undeads attack, but she could not get out from the slashing of its huge claw like hand (7hp slashing, 3hp necrotic). “Eat a cock you smelly undead fuck!” she screams at it, starting to get frustrated.
Khamyra raced to the other side of the room, and she found what she was looking for. Her mother is laying against what appears to be an altar. Anger just boils over, she skitters to a halt, turns and runs towards the enemy. Her invisible spell dissipating, the Onyx eyes are just two huge beaming lights. She throws dust, traced a symbol and scream Eldritch with such a screech it almost hurt the ears. Arcane energy burst out of her hands, but it was a designed spell, the three bolts all go to a separate enemy. Three of the Shadows get engulfed in the spell, they turn thinner and thinner until they poof, into a pile on the floor (21hp damage each).
Velencia looks up, smirks, “there’s my girl.”
One of the Shadows leg went after Hamza but he dodged it in his fear. But the re-emergence of Khamya and her scream distracted Velencia, and a Shadow grabs her. “AHHH!!!” she yanks her arm away, eyes flicker with power and anger (10hp of damage, -2 STR (8 now)).
By the time she recovered from the Shadow, the closest Priest is already swinging at her. “Fuck, come on!” she yells parrying the staff with both her daggers, but knowing dam well she is going to get hit again. She was not wrong, another raking of the claws (7hp slash 3hp necrotic).
TOP OF ROUND THREE
Chance and Hamza are still frightened, Chance is still blind too (panty-waste).
The Shadowy fiend, scoops up the dust from the shadows and it is like the dust adsorbs into the thing. (Restores 8hp of health). It turns in haste and heads for the one who killed the Shadows. It goes to attack her, but it hesitates a bit seeing her eyes burning through him, anger exploding from her. “If you want it…” the Onyx Elf says in a deep growl, “come and get it.” Her sword bursts out of hand and it throws the Shadows concentration, she leaps at the winged creature and it gets completely ripped in two (Shadow Demon rolled a “1” – Khamyra had the killing blow). The Warlock lands, evil grin across her face.
“Yes, Yes… let the anger flow through you Warlock,” Velencia hisses, huge smile on her face.
Chance still frantic blinks his eyes and he can see again. But his fear is just as strong as before. He jumps over a few pews and raced for what appears to be a large golden statue.
Hamza makes his way out the door, and is looking to head up the stairs. (He failed his wis throw again, dumbass)
Velencia gasping a bit, when suddenly something dawns on her. “Cover your eyes!” she yells, she rips the staff that gives off light off her back and slams it down on the ground and powerful light beams out. Then she nods her head, her eyes flutter with the little power she had left (she has a bunch of lower level spells but her high ones are gone) and the Priestess aims her staff and stream of radiant energy, unlike anything Velencia likes to cast and it strikes the Priest making it put its arm up to block the light (8hp radiant damage).
Through the light the Priest attacks with disadvantage and still hits, A staff to her head making her fall backwards a bit, the light getting jostled around (5hp bludgen 3hp necrotic) and before she could get herself straight, a slash across her face, some decent wounds across her cheek (6hp slashing 3hp necrotic). She falls to her knees gasping with blood dripping from her cheek.
Khamyra walks inbetween the Priest and Priestess, she crushes this odd ball of liquid, trace a symbol and hisses “searcell” and this dark purple circle forms under the Priest, then one by one within seconds these light beams erupt tearing into the undead creature. It tore this thing, limb from limb and it falls lifeless to the ground (31hp of damage). Then with a burst of energy she races for the other Priest, and she rips through it pretty good (8hp slashing).
With the light still beaming pretty good, the Shadow attacks Khamyra and could not focus long enough to do it. But the last of the creatures have crept its way behind Velencia, and from the light. It grabs her leg and she again collapses hard to the ground, just after standing back up (8hp necrotic, -3 STR (5 now)). Her skin turning white, sweat pouring off her, she is trying to get up again.
The last Priest goes after Khamyra and it was like nothing the Warlock could do, it grabs her and its eyes erupt with green necrotic energy. It was nothing the Warlock ever felt before, she screeches in pain and fright (18hp vampiric damage, 18hp priest gets healed).
TOP OF ROUND FOUR
Hamza has finally shook off the fear, and he is heading back in.
Velencia on her knees, twirls the light staff back around and aims it, nods her head and another burst of Radiant energy bursts into the shadow. It quickly evaporate and ends up a pile on the floor.
Chance poops himself a little (failed his savings throw AGAIN).
Khamyra looks to the Priest who is now grinning. “What are you smiling about… your going to be a pile of dust in a second…” She takes a deep breath, knowing this is going to hurt and hurt a lot… The Warlock tosses some dust with her other hand not being held, traces a symbol and says “turdent”. She then places her hand on the undead priest. A snap and wild boom echoes through the room, an extreme bright light erupts from the Warlocks hand. Like a grenade, to one side parts of the now dead death priest fly’s across the room. The other side of that explosion, Khamyra is blown across the room and she is slammed hard against the wall. She gasps and tries to catch her breath feeling her body wrack with pain (6hp force damage, 10hp bludgeon). Her vision blurred, blood trickles a bit from her mouth and the back of her head.
The last Shadow reaches for the Priestess who had her back to it. It grabs the back of her head and she screams making her fall forward to the floor, the staff click clacking across the floor, light going all over the place (8hp -3STR (2 strength left)).
Out of no where Hamza streaks across the room and slashes the Shadow (18hp of slashing damage) and it split in two and falls to the ground in a pile of dust.
Velencia is wracked with pain, weak and has blood dripping off her face. She thinks back to the battle in Breakwater Wharf as the last time she felt this bad, except she has no strength right now.
Turn Base Starts Again
DMaster: The second the shadow dissipates, Khamyra races for her mother. The pant filling feeling you had is now gone, except from the smell of your underwear
Chance: You are an asshat.
DMaster: Velencia is on all fours, breathing heavy. Hamza goes and checks on her, surprised to see her like this.
Chance: Race towards Khamyra and her mom, now that I am not feared
DMaster: She is laying there motionless, crumpled on the ground like she was hastily dropped. Khamyra goes to check her breath…
