Battle Written Out
The second Faelyn heard the tone of Velencia’s voice she knew, there was no turning back. She strung up an arrow and took aim. Firing at the metal faced figured she assumed was a priest of some kind. A loud thud could be heard as it lands square into the upper left chest of the enemy (12hp). As she moves a bit to one side to make sure she has a clear shot, she makes a quick decision and fires again, this time at the head. “Damn, Damn,” she mutters as she releases the arrow, like she already knew. It clunks off the face mask, giving the Priest a little jolt, but nothing more.
Tamsus leaps over Velencia and after a hag. The oddly agile woman spins to one side avoiding the attack, her momentary sound of triumph turns into a small shriek as the Crowbear clamps down on her shoulder with its beak (6hp).
By this time Bastian has made a decision. There was going to be enough melee combat going on, no need for him to jump in the frey right away. He gets out his double bladed battle staff, and then throws a fire potion at the biggest thing in the room, the Golem Hulk. Tom Brady would be proud, his aim was true. It explodes on the giant creature setting him aflame for a short time (21hp of damage – missed savings throw) the hag next to him gets hit as well (21hp of damage – missed savings throw) and as a bonus, the hag that tried to avoid the Crowbear moved into range and also got hit (21hp of damage – missed saving throw). Bastian backs up next to Khamyra, protecting her, knowing she could be casting a concentration spell or anything that might make her vulnerable.
Finster’s Champion thinks of bark and the transformation starts (but won’t be available until next round). He looks over the forming battlefield and decides his time is now. I can’t back down and I have some amazing people with me. “AHHH!” Chance screams and races for Imyrillion’s Champion. Velencia rears her head a bit, looking at Chance yelling and gives him an annoyed look. The slash was fierce and powerful, unfortunately, it missed. The opponent of Chance gives him an amused look, but a soft nod of respect too. “Shit, not how I wanted to start this out,” Chance thinks to himself.
Light starts to emanate from his opponents right hand, blood dripping from it. In a quick motion, a flaming blade erupts from his hand, ready to strike. Chance watched it happening and knew he was going to strike. The quarter elf parried the attack with Silent Fate, but could not stop the arcane energy that burst from his left hand hitting the Champions square in the chest. Everything turned white for a moment and he shuttered with pain (12hp of damage).
With reckless abandon, Shemrata races for the Hulk who doesn’t seem to care he was just lit on fire. Pulling out her whip she goes to try and grapple the large beast but finds the floor a bit slippery. She slides, and she tries to catch herself allowing the whip to get out of sink of the snap (rolled a 1). A bit thrown from that, she just gets in position and curses under her breath.
The Acolyte, one hand holding its glaive, puts out it’s other hand and up shoots lightning, all around Khamyra. The Immyrillion disciple recognized a spell caster. Bastian jumps out of the way avoiding damage, but Khamyra does get some (8hp of damage, she made her dex save). She steps to the side, out of the affected area.
Khamyra and the Acolyte’s eyes connect, and he can see she is not happy. The Warlock’s eyes flutter and flicker with purple arcane light, dust flies, hand traces and her mouth utters the word “turdent”. She braces herself and power just explodes out of her hand. The chamber resounds with a clap of thunder and the energy streaks for the Acolyte (16hp of damage, misses save, but made dex save for prone). With the power Khamyra has, the thunder also engulfs the Sentinel (16hp). It stutters a bit and gets thrown back a few feet. The Acolyte oddly stood its ground and that was a mistake.
Velencia felt now was the time, she races for the stunned Acolyte, grabs his neck and her eyes explode with unholy light. The poor acolyte is drawn into the Priestess (missed savings throw) and she throws his lifeless body to the ground afterwards. Her body glows, her eyes fluctuate with light and power. She lets out a little moan of satisfaction (Acolyte’s soul was extracted, Velencia now has an +1 to Wisdom and an additional 15hp temporarily).
Imyrillion’s champion glances over, witnesses the power of the Priestess and a wave of worry washes over him, for the first time since getting to this side of the world.
The sentinel heads for Velencia while she is distracted and possibly getting horned up from her soul eating. At the extent of his movement he brings the massive sword made of a metal-stone combination down. Just missing the disguised woman, with a loud crack to the floor. By then the Priestess looks over to the golem annoyed, only to get a punch in the face by him (10hp). BAM! She staggers back holding her nose, wide eyes.
In an odd move, the Priest moves to the side a bit, and lines Finster’s Champion up. He lifts his hands up, blood dripping and fire bursts from them. As chance readied himself for an attack, that allowed him to roll a bit out of the way and only took half the damage (7hp). Getting his bearings about him, he hears an odd unlatching sound and realizes the Priest is not done. Instinctively he moves to one side, and this great morning star comes crashing down next to him, slamming the ground hard, but missing.
After getting most of the flames out, the Hag with half burnt clothes, a torn shoulder from the Crowbear, decides to attack this massive odd beast. She rubs blood on her finger from her wounded shoulder and points at Tamsus. Before she could finish, the creature had an idea of what was happening (she rolled a 1) and with its beak hit the hag’s hand making the poison spray fly into the air. The Crowbear still got a little of it (7hp) and everyone else made the save for no damage.
The other hag lunges for Shemrata, who was not really looking at her. Her claws dig into the side of her arm making the Odius wince a bit (6hp). The footing in this area is suspect, as the second attack of the hag was another swing of her claws. Her foot gave a little and she had to catch herself, missing completely (rolled a 1 on her surge).
The hulk now zeroed in on Shemrata, lumbers forward a few feet and drives its arm, which is a great sword, into the beast and much to Shemrata’s surprise, it rips through her armor like nothing. Pain sears through the Odius as the hulk is driving it further and further (18hp). It then grabs one of her horns, and throws her with such force against the cages and against the wall (14hp). One of the cages creak and bend with the force. Shemrata falls to the floor, now prone and trying to get her bearings about her.
TOP OF ROUND TWO
Chance looks down as his transformation is complete, his glowing body is now covered in a thick bark.
Faelyn starts thinking. The hags, priests, acolytes, etc seem to control the golems. If we get rid of them, in theory, the golems will stop attacking. She shakes her head and says to herself, should have thought of that beforehand. She strings up an arrow and fires at the hag that was attacking Tamsus. Thud, hits right on the top of her shoulder, she shrieks a bit (9hp). She turns to look only to have another one of the Huntresses arrows lodge into the top of her chest area (13hp).
Tamsus watches as the hag next to him is flailing around in frustration from Faelyn. The Crowbear slashes at the hag, digging into her other side and she whirls around wide eyes not expecting that (17hp). The gross woman falls to one knee, and Tamsus clamps his big beak down on her head and shakes his head violently. The hags body falls backwards, and her head goes sailing across the chamber(12hp) decapitated from its body. Faelyn ducks a bit and dodges the bloodstream trailing the fleshy skull.
The Master Witch steps forward and grabs his two daggers, both laced with poison. He flings both of them at the Metal Priest, knowing the golems are immune to Poison. The first dagger sails by the metal faced Priest, and as he looks to refocus on Bastian the other dagger drills him in the middle of his stomach (4hp pierce, 6hp of poison). The Priest grabs the dagger and rips it out, throws it across the floor.
Chance did not like the condescending look he got from the masked man. He swings Silent Fate around and the Masked Champion, over confident, tries to parry the blow, only to practically have his flaming sword knocked out of his hand. Pain sears through the front of his chest area, looking and seeing his robes ripped, blood spurting out a little (15hp). By the time he looked up and gave the Finster’s Champion a growl, another slash, horizontal, went across his chest as well (15hp). More blood pours out and his robes are torn to bits. Chance smiles softly, eyes turning to slits.
Just as quick as the blood starts to pour out, it stops. The fancy masked foe wipes blood across the wounds quickly and they start to congeal. He then suddenly lunges forward with his sword and it hits the Champion. The sword is steadfast, in Chances gut. Both of them slowly look up, eyes meet and chance smirks. “Not this time stinky,” he says and he punches Imyrillion’s Champion in the face, causing no damage but getting the man away from him.
Shemrata picks herself up off the ground, a little groggy from the last 2 attacks. Checks for her weapons and they are there. She is looking to join the battle again.
Khamyra throws some odd colored liquid in the air, traces a symbol and says “oko-purra” and her hand starts to glow as does her eyes. A bit of arcane energy snaps and the metal-faced priest looks her way, eyes wide (he misses the savings throw) and he slumps to the ground, fast asleep.
In retaliation from the punch, Velencia grabs her daggers and slashes at the Sentinel. Both the daggers sink into the creature, some mud and blood spurts out(12hp rolled a 20). The Priestess then decides to make the next one count, grabs the arm of the sentinel and transfers pain into him (18hp). The golem staggers a bit, but doesn’t seem all that affected by it. “Dammit, no fun!” the Priestess yells.
She pulls back and she was totally put off by the golems’ lack of pain, it allowed her to be in a bad position. The Sentinel in one fluid motion swings the sword from above and over its head down into Velencia’s shoulder. It physically knocked the wind out of her, digging into her and she winces a bit (28hp), dropping to a knee. She can feel another one coming and she rolls out of the way last minute as it crashes hard against the floor, missing her completely.
Faelyn has been watching for anyone to head to the tables with the Sentinels on them, and now she spots one. The hag turns and bolts for the tables. The creature was careful to not allow reactionary attacks, but she did not count on a long range stalker. In less than a half second, the Huntress rips out an arrow, notches and fires hitting the hag in the upper shoulder hard(12hp) making her stagger a bit in her sprint, but does not deter her from reaching her target. The hag starts the quick ritual.
The hulk, totally ignoring the crowbear, turns it’s sights back to Shemrata. The Crowbear gets a free attack, but it’s beak all but bounces off the armor. Shemrata was ready for it and both strikes missed the creature as the Odius relied upon her dexterity this round.
TOP OF ROUND THREE
Fae is frantically seeing if the Hag made it to the Sentinels. Looking through the battles, blood flying, weapons slashing she is having a hard time telling, “I think a hag is trying to raise a golem!!!” she screams hoping someone finds it and kills it before it is too late. Seeing Shemrata facing a monster, she notches an arrow and fires. Her distractions did her no favors, the arrow bounces off the huge metal head of this hulk. “damn, damn, damn!” she mutters, take the easy shot for now, she thinks. Fires another arrow and it lodges deep into the back of the hulk (12hp).
Tamsus is desperately trying to help his owner. It rams the hulk hard, and its beak slams into it, bounces away, hurting the crowbear more than this monstrosity. It then rears up, squawks and slashes at it, the massive claws just bounce off the armor. Frustrated, it shakes its head and some feathers fly.
DM Note: I was getting pissed at some of the rolls, and I went to slap my thigh in frustration and accidentally hit my nutsack. So in comparison, the DM rolled for a save on Dexterity, and rolled a 1, hitting his peanuts hard. A 10 minute pause as he recovers from his 2hp of ball damage.
Bastian hearing Faelyn yell about the golem, knows where they are, so he runs towards that area. He almost made a bad mistake throwing blinding dust at a Sentinel and realizes it wouldn’t work against one of these. In frustration he twirls his battle staff around like a pro and slashes through the sentinel, one across his stomach, the other along its shoulder down it’s side. Some mud plops out, a blood spurt or two (10hp and 6hp).
Chance touches his hand, heals himself (15hp healed). “I can do that too,” he says with a smirk towards the other Champion. With that he then lunges forward and drives the sword into the side of the Imyrillion follower called their Champion. He moved just enough to not take serious damage (9hp).
“This is no longer cute,” the Champion with the mask on mutters. He holds his hand out, then makes a fist, blood dripping off the knuckles. Chance suddenly feels his body start to stiffen and he can’t move (failed WIS savings throw). Finster’s Champion is now frozen, just his eyes can move now. “You are far to young to have this burden put on you, let me release you from it…” he says, eyes locked on Chance. He drives his sword threw chances, upper stomach area, bark and all (25hp of damage).
Shemrata, up to her tail in deep shit facing off against the biggest strongest thing in the room. She rips out her dual blade and sinks it deep into an open spot in the armor (14hp) of damage, she twirls it to land the other blade somewhere only to get it deflected with the large metal bracers of the Hulk. She whips her tail around only to have it clunk off its giant helm. She swallows hard realizing, this is not going well.
Khamyra, knowing she is running out of mana, needs to get into melee (she has 3 mana left). Seeing the Priest still napping she figures, its an easy target. She runs for him, jumps and lunges the assassin’s blade deep into his side (14hp). As she pulls it out it dawns on her, the attack will remove the sleep. “Bullocks!” she exclaimed realizing her mistake too late.
“By Finsters Fire!” Exclaims Velencia, bringing both her hands up high in the air. Flames shoot out and engulf the Sentinel (19hp). The golem is starting to crack and wobble a bit, seeing that she lunges for it trying to drive the daggers into its throat. The erratic movement causes the daggers to bounce off the breastplate and helm. “Stand still you sack of shit!” she yells, then pausing a moment thinking that she is probably, literally, correct.
Bastian looking for the damn Hag, was not ready for the attack. The wobbling golem brings his sword level and swings real hard. Velencia jumped back and misses her but it hits Bastian square in the gut. Spit flies from his mouth and an exhale that makes him lose his breath (16hp). He is bent over, eyes wide not expecting such a hit. The Sentinel then brings the sword down, cranking the witch on the back and head (19hp). He slams to the ground, head bouncing off the floor.
Khamyra still reeling from her mistake and she pays for it. The Priest as he stands swings his morning star hard, angry and hits Khamyra in the shoulder making her stutter to the left. Pain across her side and shoulder (7hp). As she tries to recover from that, he swings the opposite way hitting her square in the jaw (15hp). She staggers back, blood trickling from her mouth.
The hag was successful in starting up the new golem. She turns back to the battle, as the fresh new Sentinel climbs off the table, grabbing his giant sword.
During this chaos of battle, the Immyrillion Champion looks to the hulk, waves his hand and his eyes flicker. (gave him a frenzy guided attack)
The Hulk with crazy speed, swings its huge long sword arm and slices into the Odius (20hp). It took her by surprise she winces with pain, grabbing at her midsection that is now pouring out blood. Before she could react again the Hulk jams its sword deep into her shoulder down through her entire body (25hp). It rips out the sword and then it brings it’s other massive arm down, slams her to the ground with such a violent force (18hp). She goes sprawling across the floor, head bouncing off the ground.
TOP OF ROUND FOUR
As Chance is standing, frozen, the bark is starting to peel back. A wave of anxiety washes over him.
Faelyn looking for a shot on a non golem, finds none that were worth the risk. She moves 5 feet to the side and fires off an arrow to the Hulk who was literally wiping the floor with the Odius. The crazy fast motion of the creature makes her first arrow clank off his armor. She grabs another one, her eyes flicker, her hands pulse with a little light and power. “Not this time golem,” she says softly, eyeing up the creature. The arrow lets loose and hits the creature in the neck (8hp) and she makes a fist, concentrates and she transfers some necrotic damage to the huge beast (2hp).
The Crowbear desperate to help Shemrata, jumps on the back of the huge golem and tries to bite it’s neck, only to miss and get shrugged off. In complete frustration the crowbear get’s its paws underneath it and drives its beak into the hulk. Luckily finding a seam in the armor, its beak is driven into the hulk (11hp).
Bastian slides one way from being face first kissing the floor, twirls, stands and whips a flashbang potion at the hag and new sentinel. It explodes causing confusion and issues with eyesight. The Sentinel stutters backwards a bit, and has left the possibility of attack this round. The Hag whips her hand around trying to clear the smoke. He then turns and twirls the staff towards the sentinel who bashed him good, only to have it clank off it’s armor.
Chance tries to break free from the grasp of his counter champion, and can not (failed WIS save). Again, the Imryllion Champion says, somewhat loudly, “your time has passed, this is our time now!” With great force he drives the sword deep into the chest of Finster’s Champion (18hp) and Chance collapses on the floor. Khamyra glances over from the voice and see’s her Fiance fall to the ground. “Chance!” she yells, but something inside her tells the Onyx Elf that everything is ok, at least right now.
Even so Khamyra wanted to get to her love, so she grabs some sand, writes a symbol and yells “Eldritch!” 3 bolts of arcane energy streak from her hands and it hits the Iron Wenchs Champion directly (16hp of damage – Eldritch does not take Mana). She is trying to make her way through the frey to get to Chance.
Velencia also looking over to the Imyrillion Champion, and seeing Chance motionless on the floor, she sighs. It is going to take a lot out of me but it’s time, she thinks to herself. Velencia has uncanny dexterity for her size and class. She moves, gracefully misses an attack and grabs her necklace. She yells “Reticent Nightmare!” Then looks and points at the masked man. Some odd ghostly apparitions appear for a second, fly around the Champion of the Iron Wench and dive inside (failed WIS throw) and he screams, eyes wide and drops to his knees (58hp of necrotic damage). The Priestesses shoulders slump and she gasps for air, realizing it might of took more out of her than she thought. With extra strength, she turns and jams both her daggers into the Sentinel in front of her (11hp – killing blow). It cracks, wobbles and falls to the floor with a splat.
The blinded Hag, randomly strikes out and misses everyone. She was about 20 feet from Bastian.
The Hulk standing directly over Shemrata, who is slowly trying to bring herself up. The hulk raises it’s foot and curbstomps the Odius so hard, a cracking sound resounds across the chamber, her horn all but ripped off (11hp – she only had 9hp left). Shemrata slumps to the ground and is not moving. The huge golem turns and swipes at the Crowbear only to have the agile creature dodge the blow.
Vision: Chance wakes up in bed, rolls over a bit. Leans up and yawns. As he stands out of bed, he lifts his hands high and stretches. He makes his way to the staircase and walks down them. The house is empty except two people at his table conversing and what sounds like playful banter. The quarter elf makes his way to the front of the table…
TOP OF ROUND FIVE
Faelyns eyes are huge seeing Shemrata go down and go down hard. She unsheathes her blade and races for the Hulk. Jumping with grace she drives her sword deep into the creature, in between the back of the helm and breastplate (14hp). Trying to give it extra damage, she grabs her dagger and tries to drive it into the creature as well, but it just bounces off the plate mail.
Tamsus whines and rushes the hulk, with its great paw it swipes, but as many times before it just glances off the powerful plate the golem is half constructed with. Beyond frustrated it drives its beak back into the seem it found before creating a little waterfall of mud and blood to seep onto the floor (10hp). This was enough to make the hulk shutter, stop and collapse into a few large mounds and balls of mud and blood.
“No sense keeping these around,” Bastian says grabbing for his fire potion, knowing if anyone knew he had them or was even using them, he would be in big trouble. But now was desperation time, the battle is raging on, people are starting to get tired, decisions more hasty. He throws the firebomb in between the new sentinel and the hag. It explodes, sending shards of wood and hag bits across the area (sentinel makes save – 8hp, Hag does not 17hp). Bastian then goes after the hag who is not looking so good, but the flames and smoke aid the enemy this time and his attack was a miss.
Vision: Chance looks at the two talking. He takes a minute to look around, and there is no one else here, just the sounds of the two in front of him conversing. “Can I have your names?” the Champion asks. Both of them look at him. One is a gorgeous female Onyx elf with lighter skin. Big brown eyes, a magical smile. The male has some unruly hair and a nose that reminds him of… well… His eyes bulge a little. The two teenagers in front of him glance at each other, snort, laugh and look back at Chance and say “daaadddd!??!” in a playful manner.
The Imyrillion Champion, wipes blood on himself and wounds heal up a bit (12hp heal). He is still shaking, and his goddess and demeanor saved him from any further necrotic nightmares. He lunges forward to the surprise of Velencia and drives the flaming sword into the Priestess (24hp). She gasps a bit, eyes wide, expecting the man to be on the ground curled up in a little ball. With guidance from the Iron wench he holds his hands out, dripping with blood and an orange liquid stream burst out of his hands hitting an unsuspecting Priestess in the side of the shoulder and neck making her stagger backwards (18hp).
DM Note: Shemrata fails her first death save.
Khamyra again raises her hand repeats her last spell, and 3 bolts of arcane energy streak out of her hands striking the Champion (21hp). He falls to one knee gasping for air. The Onyx Elf looks to Velencia and motions for her “I think he is ready for you babe,” she says with a snark.
The bleeding Priestess rips the mask off the man, a weird slimy scaly red face is underneath. She grabs hold of his cheeks, nails digging in. The man is sucking for air, tears down his face from pain. “Ain’t nobody got time for your raggity ass,” Velencia says transferring pain into the man, who shrieks a bit, it quickly stops as he crumples to the ground, lifeless. Then in a fluid motion she steps forward a bit, and drives both daggers into the metal face priest (21hp).
With the dagger strikes, the priest retaliates, puts out his hands and fire shoots out from them engulfing Velencia (15hp). Khamyra tries to dodge it, but failed getting a chest filled of flames (15hp). Then he didn’t stop there swinging his great morning star and hitting Velencia in her chest as she is trying to fan out the flames of her clothes (5hp).
TOP OF ROUND SIX
Bastian unable to break free, see’s the wounded hag running for another Golem. “She is at it again! Trying to get another one alive!” the Master witch screams across the chamber.
With the Hulk no longer a threat, Faelyn sprints with all the speed she could muster across the battle field. She dodges some flames, jumps over a dead body and then leaps in the air. She sees her target, roughly 40 feet away. She has her bow pulled back already, eyes focused on the hags head. She lets the arrow fly… Thud! The arrow rips through the short hags temple area, almost taking off half her droopy nasty face (13hp). The hag slams against the table, and slumps to the ground, lifeless. It apparently did not have time to get another golem started.
Tamsus goes to Shemrata, nudges her. The Odius does not move. The creature gives her a little chirp purring sound and the Legion does not budge. Tamsus wines, nudges her again, not sure what to do. It turns around and protects its owner.
Vision: Chance’s eyes are huge, looking at the two beautiful people in front of him, not believing it… when he feels a tickle on his chest and stomach…
The smell of sulfur and ass rushes into Chance. He is ground level, he sees the Immyrillion champion on the floor, eyes still open, without a mask, not moving, dead. Blood and mud splatters through out. Bastian’s boot not to far off either and he figures that is who got him up and out of unconsciousness. He stirs a bit but did not have it in him to stand just yet.
Khamyra swings her Assassins blade, now dripping with Poison at the metal faced Priest. It slices deep into the man making him exclaim and yell (12hp of slashing 8hp of poison). Breathing heavy, blood and sweat running down her face, Khamyra then chuckles a little seeing the Priest is not going to make it another round, turns to Velencia and says “Vel, hun, up for another one?”
The Priestesses eyes and head snap to the Warlock and then to the Priest. She grabs the man by the throat, transfers some pain to him (8hp). By now the Priestess is feeling spent and exhausted, even her powers are starting to wain. She twirls one of her daggers as the metal faced priests eyes bulge seeing his fate. Velencia slices through the throat of the man, he gurgles, grabs for his throat and falls face first to the ground (10hp – Death Blow). Blood spurts out, and he does not move.
The remaining Sentinel stops walking forward. Sword still in hand goes limp. It just seems to be standing there.
“All of the golem’s masters are dead, it doesn’t know what to do now,” Faelyn said, putting away the next arrow she was going to fire. Then she remembered, turned and raced for Shemrata.
First Five Written Out
Shemrata is lying motionless on the floor. Oddly enough the first person to her is Faelyn, she is pushing the massive hulk golem, that is in multiple pieces, mud, blood and plate armor off the Odius.
“Shemrata! Shemrata!” The Renrazzi elf is screaming and it echoes throughout the chamber. This gets the attention of the group.
By then Velencia is racing over, and clears the massive disgusting debris off her. Turning the tailed woman over, laying her on her back.
Faelyn breathes a huge sigh of relief, as she can see the creature still breathing. But wrinkles her forehead a bit seeing her horn is all but broken off, blood splattered across her face, bruising starting to form, massive multiple open wounds spilling blood and the shoulder is twisted in a way that must be making her insides all messed up. She will not live much longer this way.
“Whoa, Shem, babe, you got owned by this hulk creature,” Velencia says softly, looking over her horn and pushing some of her hair and jewelry out of the way.
Velencia turns to yell for the Champion to come over and heal, but she did not have too. He was already walking around her, starting to kneel down.
Chance’s eyes bulge a little seeing the state of this powerful Odius. Knowing full well what it must have taken to bring it down. He shutters for a moment.
The Champion grabs her horn and pulls it so it connects, and puts his hand on the Odius’s face. A spark of electricity, and the transfer begins. Within a few seconds, the Odius slumps peacefully to the ground. She is breathing easier and with everything in tact.
Velencia smiles a bit, takes a deep breath and realizes just how exhausted she is right now. This was a long grueling battle and she really needs to lay down and rest soon. She stands and then without warning Chance grabs her hand. A sensation, euphoria fills her, she loses her balance a bit and moans. “ahhh healed…” she thinks to herself.
Chance goes to stand up afterwards and realizes he is far too weak right now. Only so much he can do before it takes the life out of him. He almost falls, and goes back to one knee. Head down, he shakes it slowly, feeling completely drained.
The Priestess catches him and gives him a worried look. “Chance, you ok?” she asks with sincerity.
Everyone in the room stops, and slowly looks over to her, not believing what they hear and see.
She looks around the room and shrugs her shoulders, “what?”
The Onyx Elf, is wiping her face from the blood, and touches her cheek gingerly. The whole side of her face is starting to bruise, but she knows her Fiance can’t heal right now. Taking a minute to get herself situated and gearing herself to hide the pain and wounds. Otherwise he will try and heal me, and that would be bad for everyone.
Khamyra then heads over to the group now huddled around Shemrata and puts her arm around Velencia. The Priestess leans into the Warlock a little, smile across her face.
By now Bastian is coming from the back of the room. Wiping off his battle staff-spear like weapon. “All the golems are now headless, and gem-less just in case.” He says with a smile, holding up a bag of the rocks.
He thumbs to the back of the room, “there is a sigil in the back, and I am sure that heads to somewhere more nasty than this…” he says with a slight twitch and smile.
Khamyra shakes her head, “unfortunately we need to rest up. My fiance can barely stand, I am tapped out and Velencia is acting all nice and cuddly… things are weird,” she says with a playful tone.
The Priestess playfully pushes her away and she smiles at the Warlock.
“I am sending in a troop of guards to hold this place down for now. No one in or out of this place, and I am going to set up a trap for anyone trying to come into the sigil”, he says, kind of rambling and twitching here and there.
Bastian also takes the time to sort through things. He finds a few books that he hopes he can translate later, a metal-stone mix great morning star, a few ornate battle staffs, a silver glaive, a giant metal-stone great sword, a fancy mask, silk rich robes, some odd trinkets not worth much and a good 8 gems that were stuck in the head of the golems, and they are called, oddly enough, bloodstones, worth about 50gp each.
The Odius finally comes too after about 10 minutes.
As the Black Ward member walks further, looking things over he stops, kneels down. “Fuck.” Is all the master witch had to say to let everyone turn and cringe, knowing there is bad news.
He stands up, fancy robe and mask in hand. “The Champion is gone,” the Master Witch says, shrugging his shoulders looking over the outfit.
It takes a little life out of the room, as everyone sinks their shoulders a bit and most curse under their breath.
The Odius slowly makes her way to her feet, Faelyn and Velencia helping her. “Easy there, we got you,” the Huntress says.
Shemrata glances at the Renrazzi elf, not wanting to say thank you, but nods at her in a respectful manner.
“He was so strong and…” the large tailed beast starts but Velencia nudges her a bit to keep quiet.
The group heads out, down the passageway only to see a few small figures dart back down the corridor ahead of them. They run down the tunnel that Chance investigated early, that had these smaller creatures all chained up.
“Oh yeah, those children!” Khamyra says suddenly remembering, as she walks faster past the group and down that tunnel.
Faelyn and Bastian follow, Shemrata, Velencia, Tamsus and Chance continue down and out of the cave system. They hit warmer but fresher air. A legion of Camerondale guards at the ready, there had to be 30 of them. McKenna at the forefront.
The Witch Blade steps forward, “How did it go?”
“We lost and we are all dead…” Velencia starts with a snark, giving her a dirty look, “how did you think it went?”
McKenna backs up a bit not used to being talked like that and definitely not used to Velencia. She sees everyone looking beat up and half dead.
Everyone gasps a bit seeing the Odius walking gingerly past them and even more so a beautiful dark Crowbear following along silently.
The three of them get back to the Dolphin and Tamsus, heads to the back alley of the inn and lays down to rest.
Velencia and Chance take the Odius to a room, lay her down in an open bed, much to her refusal. They both glance back as they go to walk out of the room only to find Shemrata fast asleep already.
The Priestess eyes up the Champion. He has not said a word since the battle, and though she enjoyed the silence, she is starting to get a little worried.
As they walk down the hallway to the stairs together, Chance peels off into his room, closes the door. Velencia pauses a moment, thinking about going in and talking with him, but she knows that is probably not the best idea right now, or ever.
She heads down to the main floor, sees Arlo flinging old food across the room, hitting the wall. He giggles at every fling. Lyric making a sighing noise every time, knowing she has to clean it up later.
Chance walks to the window in his room. The vision of what seems to be his baby girl and boy rattling around in his brain. Leans against the wall and looks out. He can see down the main street a bit before it gets to dark and foggy.
He is trying to get out of his head that he was taken down, again. “I wasn’t much of a challenge to him, was I?” he thinks to himself. He clenches his jaw and shakes his head a bit. “Still young, inexperienced…” he tells himself, relaying the message he has heard people say about him, multiple times.
Why did I see my children grown up? Why did that happen during a battle? He thinks, shakes his head confused and a bit put off from it.
In between the questions to himself, he could not stop himself from smiling a little, thinking how good they looked, healthy and apparently a good repore with their “father.”
His mind wandered off to the battle and things he could have done differently, thinking, hell even if I lost this battle, I need to learn from it. I can’t keep dying or falling…
He lays down for a bit, taking a quick nap and waking up an hour or so later. The afternoon is slowly turning to dinner time and Chance’s stomach growls a bit.
The quarter elf heads down to the main floor, out the door and over to the merchant who sells food, buys more for dinner. By the time he gets back, the rest of the group has arrived.
The bottom floor is now filled; Khamyra, Bastian, Velencia, McKenna, Faelyn and a few 4-star Camerondale guards.
Chance makes his way through the people and hands off the food to Lyric, who turns and heads to the back. Much like before, Velencia eyes this up and heads back with her, to make sure she doesn’t burn down the place.
Everyone was buzzing about the “children,” they found, but Chance did not care. He was in no mood for people right now, solitude and hunger was the only thing guiding him. He headed back up the stairs, into his room and closed the door.
A minute later Khamyra comes in, door open, “Chance, what is going on?” She says with concern in her voice, tilting her head a bit. She winces a little from the movement, but quickly buries that.
The Champion, sitting on the edge of the bed, just shrugs his shoulders.
Closing the door, the Warlock walks over to her fiance, sits down next to him, putting her hands in between her thighs.
After a minute or two, Khamyra then, purposefully puts her hands on his, creating a spark. He jumps a little.
“You literally have not said a word since the battle,” she starts out, giving him a look, trying to see into his eyes, but his demeanor and hair is making it a chore. “I know it did not turn out like you wanted, but we did win and you went toe to toe with their Champion and lived to talk about it?”
She trails off a bit, remembering seeing him get skewered and she had a moment of panic. Then like something snapped in her brain, Khamyra knew he was still alive and that let her continue to battle.
“What does it matter, I was a play toy to him,” he starts, shaking his head a bit, “I landed two decent shots and that was it, if it wasn’t for you, Velencia and Faelyn, I’d be nothing but a blood stain on the floor of a smelly cave.”
Khamyra rubs his back, and leans into him some. “He was twice your age, maybe triple your experience and you tore into him a few times and held your own. You have to take the little wins here and there, and make the rest a learning experience.”
After a long few minutes, Chance stands up, walks to the window. Khamyra looks over to him, letting out a small sigh. She knows it is just going to take time, and experience for him to get where he, and everyone, wants him to be.
“Anyways,” he finally speaks again. Walks back over to Khamyra and sits next to her.
“They were amazing.” The words hit Chance hard as he spoke them. The long day, the fact he is exhausted and remembering seeing his grown children was too much.
He puts his head down, his hands to his forehead and he starts to softly weep.
Khamyra is confused, but hearing him cry is making her eyes well up, her exhaustion is starting to kick in as well.
“Hun, who was amazing?” she asks, trying to get his hair out of the way, tucking it behind his ear.
“Cralen and Krishana,” he sputters out of his mouth as he continues to cry, trying to get everything back under control.
By this time, the Warlock has had enough, she gets off the bed and kneels directly in front of him, bringing his chin up. She sees the tears streaming down his face, an odd look, one of confusion but of some deep seeded happiness.
As a few tears fall down her face, “our children? I know they are amazing my love, what do you mean? You miss them?”
“When I went down in battle, I had a vision. I was back home, walked down our stairs and there were two people at the table…” he starts in, looking into the beautiful Warlock’s eyes, “I asked who they were and they looked at me and said…”
He chuckles a bit as he wipes a tear from his cheek, “Dad!?!” he says trying to replicate the playful tone they used.
Khamyra giggles a bit, eyes wide still just staring at Chance, not knowing why he would be getting such a vision.
Giving a little head shake, now starting to smile a bit more, “Krishana, is stunning, so beautiful and those big eyes. Cralen, well he has my unruly hair and my beak,” he says pointing at his nose, letting out a little chuckle.
Khamyra now, tears falling, smiles and laughs a little at his comments. She leans into the big man’s chest and the two embrace, both softly crying and confused as to why he would get such a vision. The Onyx elf dares not ask too many questions, it has been a long day and too much has happened. She silently winces from the pain of the hug, but the warmth of her fiance makes it all worth it.
The couple talks for a short bit, but a soft-sounding bell can be heard downstairs and that means dinner. For now, Chance’s mind went cave man with hunger growing in his stomach. The two walk down, hand in hand, and find a place to sit. The place is half full right now and the room has a wonderful smell of stew.
Shemrata makes her way down, and a few of the guards are off put, but Bastian puts any uprising to bed immediately.
The room was quiet for the most part, as everyone was enjoying a wonderful meal, with what appears to be ale not made by Wilder. It was much nicer, smoother and tasted nothing like death.
The floor starts to get a bit louder as people are starting to converse, finishing their meal. Chance now hears about the “children” that were taken into custody. They were not children at all, but small humanoid creatures. They only speak the language of their culture so no more information was given. They have been taken to a large half empty warehouse for food, rest and lots and lots of baths.
Velencia had everyone leave that didn’t mean to be there, including McKenna, and they had a big meeting about the next morning.
The Priestess goes to take off her disguise, but chooses against it. The off chance someone comes in and recognizes her, is something she doesn’t want to deal with. She stands up and starts to pace a bit slowly, in thought as she speaks.
“We have no more time table, according to Faelyn, the Augustian army will be in dock by tomorrow evening, if not sooner,” the Priestess says, taking a few steps.
“When they arrive, everything will change, our free reign and covert operations will be scrutinized and witnessed by many,” she finishes her thought, stops pacing.
The Priestess turns and looks at the group, “I feel this is it, we are at the pinnacle of this endeavor,” she says, “the next sigil is probably going to take us to the source or damn close to it. I can’t imagine the Champion and the golems would be far from it. Bastian? Want to fill us in?”
Bastian nods his head, “the sigil on the wall in the golem room indicates three places, one is related to stone? The next roughly indicates the word, waste? The final one and the most important, the one with blood on it, indicated; water.”
Khamyra nods her head, pulling out her papers and looking over to Bastian. He smiles and nods.
Velencia is walking around, pacing again, “this is probably going to be bigger and worse than the last battle we fought, so we need to have a plan heading into this,” she continued, hand on chin, looking down, “now that we know what to expect, for the most part.”
“I am going to be relying on Faelyn and Bastian for our game plan, they will most likely be ready for us coming through now,” she says quickly, trying not to show the annoyance in her eyes to the Huntress, “you and Bastian will come up with some ideas, formations, plan of attacks… you get what I mean,” she says, flicking her hand around in the Priestesses usual fashion.
Faelyn’s eyes are wide, not believing she is hearing this. But nods her head in understanding.
“Unfortunately Shem, hun, Tamsus stays behind, he is too big and not sure he would make it through the portal at all,” the disguised woman says, looking at the Odius, who is still a bit under the weather.
The Odius nods in understanding.
Velencia turns to Khamyra, “rest up bitch, you have a lot of spell slinging to do tomorrow,” she says with a smirk.
Khamyra smirks back and winks at her.
She walks a bit, stops for a moment. Glances over to Chance, “you want another chance at the Champion, Champion?” the Priestess finishes with a slight smirk.
Chance who was staring at the table, slowly looks over, “fuck yeah I do.” he says forcefully and with a bit of frustration.
Velencia smiles and chuckles. “You may get your chance again, no pun intended, and I would like you to do just that. Even though he got the edge this battle, you held him off us most of the time,” she continues, “Now you know who you are up against, and you can make better adjustments.”
After a few minutes of mutterings and whispers, Velencia dismisses the group.
Shemrata walks over to Faelyn and speaks with her. They both smile, warrior handshake.
The Huntress finds a quieter seat to sit down, with books, maps and a pitcher of ale. She is gearing up for an evening of planning.
The Odius then makes her way over to Chance. Their eyes meet, not a word was said. Shemrata puts her hand to Chance’s arm, squeezes a bit and walks for the stairs.
Arlo, who was full and happy, walks to a corner of the bar, where apparently he made his bed, curls up in a blanket and instantly falls asleep.
The Priestess stands at the bar, mug in hand staring off into la-la land, drinking some beer. Velencia waves Bastian over and they talk for a moment.
After a few head nods and some awkwardness, Chance and Khamyra head upstairs to bed. They close the door and turn to each other. “Was that Velencia down there, or was her body possessed by someone with manners and humility?” the Warlock says with a chuckle, then wincing a bit.
As much as Khamyra was trying to hide it, she was still in pain from the battle. Chance, eyes big, seeing her wince and now really seeing the bruising on her face and fire scorched armor. “oh hun…”
He starts to undress his fiance slowly. As he sees a wound, he just heals that area, giving it a little kiss afterwards. The Onyx Elf was enjoying every second of the attention. By the time she was fully naked, she was fully healed. They could not resist and they attack each other, making love all over the room and not being quiet about it either.
The Priestess can hear the couple upstairs, shakes her head and sighs. She turns to Faelyn, “Huntress, me and the Witch here need to discuss a few things, then we will be out to help with the plans,” she says looking over to the Renrazzi.
The Huntress is organizing the table between maps, books and notes. She gets out a quill and inkwell. Faelyn looks up, smiles, nods at the Priestess, and pours a little ale into a mug.
Bastian looks around confused, but follows Velencia to the back of the bar, down the hallway, but this time to Wilder’s now deserted bedroom.
Both of them walk in the room, “what is it that needs to be all hush hush? I need to sit with Faelyn and…” Bastian says, turning to the Priestess who now has dropped her dress and armor to the floor.
The Witches eyes bulge and he stammers back a bit, “whoa, uh, whoa. You… wanted to, uh, talk, to me? What about?”
Velencia with that look in her eye, a sly smirk on her face, responds, “I wanted to talk to you about the best hour of your entire life, is that ok?” She pushes him into the bed.
He takes a hard gulp, twitches and nods his head, “uh, yeah. Yeah, should be one hell of a discussion… heh heh.”
Arlo in the corner sleeping, Shemrata also asleep in her room. Chance and Khamyra breaking furniture in their room and now, apparently this Bastian guy and Velencia, also having sexual relations. The Huntress sighs, throws down her quill, leans back in her chair. Grabs the mug and drinks. “I guess when you are in battle enough, you have to remind yourself why you want to stay alive,” she says quietly to herself. She sighs again, then puts the mug down, picks up the quill again and gets back to work.
Bastian makes his way back out about an hour later. His hair a mess, lipstick across his cheek, and his shirt untucked.
He makes his way to Faelyn, smiles, twitches and sits. “Ok, now where were we?” he says looking over the table.
“We, did you just say we?” the Huntress says, half annoyed, half amused, “you were groin deep in a Priestess my friend, and I have been going over a few things on my own…”
Chance and Khamyra fall fast asleep, and on through the night.
Thuralay (Thursday) 7:00 AM
Chance and Khamyra wake up about the same time. They take a quick bath together and resist the need to fornicate again, knowing they need to keep their strength for this morning’s upcoming battle. They gear up completely, ready for the upcoming confrontation.
They make their way down to the floor and see Velencia against the bar, arms crossed looking down. Bastian sitting in a chair, leaning forward a bit, elbows on his knees. He looks up and frowns, “umm, we might have a problem guys…”
Turn Based Starts Here
Chance: I look over at them as I get to the bottom floor
Chan: and a good morning to you both
DMaster: BAS: Morning, yes. Good? I don’t know about that…
Before he can finish his sentence, you hear the door open behind you
Chance: Looking over in the direction of the door opening
DMaster: Cassie waltzes in, looks around the old stale smelling tavern and smirks. A man is with her, chiseled jaw, dark eyes and medium long locks of hair. You remember him as the Regent of Vermeer, Kellen.
CASS: So this is ol’ Wilder’s place huh?
She says quietly.
Chance: My eyes get big as I see Cassie walk in. This is going to go very very badly I fear.
DMaster: Cassie and Kellen are conversing, she is pointing out a painting on the wall of a half naked woman, chuckles. They stop, see you and Khamyra
CASS: Chance! So glad to see you! Bastian said he had things he needed to “show” me… glad it was you.
She moves in and hugs you
Chance: Chan: M’Lady.
Give her a hug back not quite knowing how to react.
DMaster: She stops hugging you, backs up and looks to you.
CASS: Uh oh, you called me, M’lady…
She frowns, then turns, sees Khamyra and her eyes light up again.
CASS: Khamyra!
Khamyra has a big smile on her face and they embrace.
Chance: Chan: uh Baroness, I mean Cassie, I didn’t expect to see you here today.
DMaster: She frowns again, gives you an odd look.
CASS: Well, it took me longer than expected in Thorn Gate… the damn city was being run by a ghoul… can you believe it? A damn ghoul!
She says eyes wide, still shaking her head.
CASS: I got it straightened out the best I could for now, but this towering cloud is a serious priority I could not delay any longer.
Chance: Looking over towards Bastian, knowing we have Velencia here in disguise, look back at Cassie and give her a small smile
DMaster: You and Bastian’s eyes meet, he has a bit of worry in his expression. Cassie then brings the man with her, up next to her.
CASS: This is Kellen Son of Regiment, Vermeer. Kellen, we can have better introductions later.
As you go to bow, he shakes his head and reaches out his hand. You shake his hand. He exchange nods with Khamyra.
Chance: Chan: well it has been a long road to get to where we are. I am glad you are here to help us.
DMaster: She walks past and sees Bastian.
CASS: Bastian, where are we with…
She turns and sees Velencia, in disguise, arms crossed looking at her. The Baroness just stops, glares at her.
CASS: Really? Selling real estate in Breakwater too?
The Baroness says in a sarcastic tone. She pulls out her Sais. Bastian quickly gets up and stands in front of Cassie.
CASS: Get out of my way Master Witch.
He shakes his head slowly, keeping his focus on Cassie.
VEL: Guess this disguise wasn’t going to last forever
Velencia rips off the wig, throws it behind the bar. Then wipes her finger across her face. Her blue eyes pop and the symbol slowly comes too. Kellen raises an eyebrow, then glances over to see this once blonde, brown eyed woman, turned into the infamous black hair, buzzed on the sides, bright blue eyed, unmistakable symbol on the cheek, Velencia, High Priestess of Finster. The regent then takes out his long sword, making a “shing” sound. Everyone is now at a state of alertness.
Chance: Letting out a huge sigh, I walk over and put my hand on Cassie’s shoulder
Chan: We don’t have time for this.
DMaster: Takes a minute, but she then looks back to you.
Chance: Chan: Cassie, I know she is like public enemy number one, but now is not the time. We need her right now.
DMaster: Cassies face flushes.
CASS: Chance, goddammit, how many times?! The King is only going to forgive these things for so long, hanging out with “public enemy number one!”
Bastian then chimes in.
BAS: We are at a breaking point, a point where we will be entering the source of this, incantation, this spell. No way we are here with out the help and guidance of Velencia.
She whips her head to the master witch.
CASS: Is everyone drinking goofy juice or something!
She exclaims, wide eyes.
Chance: Chan: Bastian is right. As much as it pains me to say this, she is not part of this party, she is the axel to the wheels that make it go. Without her, we are not here, and we would be in grave danger.
DMaster: She is just shaking her head, finally sheathing her Sai’s. Oddly enough Velencia is quiet. She is just watching this unfold.
Chance: Chan: Cassie we need to talk alone in private
Giving her a small smile
DMaster: To make matters worse, Shemrata has made it to the bottom floor and is now behind you. Cassie turns and sees her, rips out her Sai’s again.
CASS: Chance! Behind you!
Her eyes huge, looking past you.
Chance: Sigh, knowing it’s the Odius.
Chan: That’s Shemrata. She is with us.
DMaster: Cassie is beside herself. Eyes still wide, shaking her head. Not believing any of this right now.
CASS: What the hell is going on here?
Chance: Chan: I think it is best we take a walk, alone.
Point to the door. Slowly moving my hand off her shoulder motioning for the exit.
DMaster: Her face is turning all shades of red, looking at Bastian, who is standing his ground now with the Baroness. She puts the weapons in her belt. Kellen is backing up, and he is now against the wall, staring at the monstrous Odius. Cassie starts for the door. You see Faelyn looking over the bottom floor, halfway down the stairs, she is shaking her head.
FAE: What the hell now, we don’t have time for any of this…
Cassie glances up and skitters to a halt. Faelyn and Cassie look at each other
CASS: Fae! Oh thank god, a friendly face!
FAE: Well pinch my cheeks red, what a joy to see you Baroness!
Faelyn comes down the rest of the stairs quickly, and they embrace.
Chance: I walk towards the door and stand there waiting as Cassie and Fae hug
DMaster: CASS: I don’t know what the hell is going on here, but I am going to get this cleared up now.
Faelyn grabs her arm a bit forceful.
FAE: Cassie. This is dire. There is no time for politics or a power struggle. Please keep that in mind, ok?
Cassie pauses a moment, they are just looking at each other. The Baroness nods and heads out the door.
Chance: Look back at the group, shake my head and walk out of the tavern. Following after Cassie, a good 100 feet from the Tavern
DMaster: She looks at you once you are far enough a way. Grabs your arm.
CAS: Chance… what the fuck!
Chance: Chan: We do not have time for me to go into the details of the past week. So, how much has Bastian told you so far?
DMaster: She has her hand to her forehead shaking her head
CASS: That you had a big battle yesterday, and you have the best lead to the source of this… thing.
She points at the massive cloud formation.
Chance: Looking her dead in the eyes.
Chan: I for one hate working with the Priestess, but I can’t express enough urgency in what is now happening. She is the most powerful fighter we have, maybe by a long shot.
Take a breath, look over to the cloud formation.
Chan: you remember back when I had that little meeting with the Gods? Well seems what Animax feared about his long time adversary, the Iron Wench, was well warranted. This whole situation is spear headed by the fallen goddess herself.
Wave my hands around, then point again at the cloud.
Chan: They have golems, constructs and enemies like we have never seen. This is no time for arguments, no time for a power struggle and it is definitely no time for pride.
DMaster: She stops. turns and looks at you
CASS: Bastian was trying to explain it to me, but…
The Baroness, now in deeper thought, glances up to the cloud.
CASS: This is all, this Iron Wench’s, doing?
Chance: Nod my head.
Chan: Yes. Her and her followers.
DMaster: She is shaking her head a bit.
CASS: Is that what you are going to tell Bozutto? I am not even sure what to do with Bastian, working with her too. It’s…
Trailing off and sighing heavily.
Chance: Grab her arm.
Chan: Cassie. This is not the time. If we don’t stop this, it won’t matter what Bozutto thinks, we will be dead or worse. If we make it through the upcoming confrontation, we can deal with it then.
DMaster: CASS: Worse? How could it be worse?
Chance: Look back into her eyes.
Chan: We could end up ghouls running a city…?
Smirk a bit.
DMaster: Her shoulders slump a bit. She sighs again. You can see the group pile out of the dolphin. They look around and spot you and Cassie. Velencia sees you and starts heading your way. Cassie’s back is turned to them.
CASS: This is so fucking complicated…
Chance: Chan: Yes, everything about it is complicated. It’s what we choose to do now that will help alleviate future decisions.
DMaster: She glances at you, frowns
CASS: When did you get all philosophical?
By then Velencia is there, scowl on her face. Cassie turns to see this Priestess, flowing armored cloak, skin tight leather underneath, dressed in black and some accents of red. Two larger daggers on her side and the necklace of Finster hanging around her neck, just above her overly pushed up breasts.
VEL: Time is not something on our side right now.
She looks at the Baroness.
CASS: Yeah, reports say the Augustian fleet is on its way, should be here by this evening.
Velencia looks at her.
VEL: Baroness, you want in, you are under my command. If you even have the slightest issue with that, then be on your way.
Cassie’s eyes bulge
CASS: Excuse you?
Chance: Even my eyes bulge a little but then I give Cassie a look.
Chan: She is right, time is of the essence, we can’t let them regroup. I would prefer you were with us, but the time is now, we can’t wait.
DMaster: She is shaking her head.
CASS: If we do anything, I am leading this group!
Khamyra is heading your way too. Velencia shakes her head.
VEL: That’s too bad, we could of used your help. Now with all due respect, piss off.
Velencia turns and heads off back down to the party, now getting antsy outside the tavern.
Chance: I look at Cassie almost giving her a pleading look
DMaster: Khamyra gets there just in time as a furious Cassie was going to go after the Priestess.
KHA: Cass, hun. You wouldn’t last a second and we can’t afford this right now.
The Warlock seeing it is going to take a little more than small talk. Without hesitation and shockingly, Khamyra grabs Cassies face forcefully, turns it to the cloud & points.
Chance: Chan: there is our priority. We need to end this now
pointing at the cloud
DMaster: KHA: Chance is right. Right here and now, that is our enemy? Got it? In less than a few hours, this place will be crawling with Augustian elves. Not to mention we have already gave them far too long to prepare, this is just making it worse.
Cassie, red faced looking at Khamyra. Her hand still on the Baroness cheeks. She lets it go. They look at each other.
Chance: Chan: after it is over if you want to have a crack at Velencia, I wont stop you
DMaster: Khamyra shakes her head.
KHA: I will stop her, Velencia is much more powerful than you think. I like you too much.
The Onyx Elf turns to head back, then stops, looks back to Cassie who is now as conflicted as you maybe ever seen her.
KHA: We need you, but we can’t have a power struggle right now. You are either with us or you need to get out of our way. Velencia is our most powerful fighter, she has led us through it all, we are still breathing and have a chance to end this because of her. It’s time. You can make your decision… but we have to go.
Your fiance waves you on, turns and starts heading back.
CASS: Goddammit, I guess there is a common theme here…
Chance: I turn to start walking away and give Cassie a small smile
Chan: I wish you would come with us, I hope you make the right decision.
DMaster: You two head back. Kellen is walking towards Cassie and then you see him jump what seems 20 feet to the side, trying to grab his weapon. Tamsus pops out of the alleyway, gives the man a “caw” and moves down towards the party.
KEL: What the… hell, this has got to be the weirdest day of my life.
Khamyra couldn’t stop a giggle. He turns and starts heading for Cassie who is still standing there. Bastian is now arguing with McKenna who has showed up.
MCK: I am going, Cassie is back, she can deal with the guards.
BAS: Mckenna, no offense this is shit you have never seen or dealt with. Hell, I haven’t even dealt with it.
MCK: Excuse you?
She stands, arms crossed.
BAS: Oh my god, fine, all of this is doing is delaying things further. Just please, be careful.
He gives her a look and she turns her eyes to slits, nods her head.
VEL: Everyone got everything?
Chance: Double check, knowing I have everything.
DMaster: Everyone nods, Velencia leads the group past Cassie and Kellen who are in deep conversation.
Chance: Take a deep breath as we walk past them and keep moving
DMaster: The party of 8 head through the streets and to the gate. The Camerondale guards are a little off put by the Odius and a few recognize Velencia and whisper to each other, point. But most of them have wide eyes looking at the large crowbear slinking along next to them. You get to where the dipping plateau meets the raising landscape. The party turns and heads up the plateau. You see a Camerondale guard patrol, they see you and go to head your way, but Bastian waves them off.
Chance: Remaining focused I keep moving forward with the group.
DMaster: You get to the area where the guard house is. Stop a moment and look around. The cloud is still looming over you, the sky is the deepest grey you think you have ever seen. It is a pleasant 70 degrees out and a slight wind. The group makes their way through the terrain, drop down to the cave platform and area. A heavy guard presence, 3 guards outside, a few perched in the distance keeping watch. There is a large crate to the farther end of this area, apparently they have been emptying any loot or valuables.
Chance: Taking a deep breath as we drop down to the cave, I will remain silent following the group.
DMaster: You head down the cave corridor, passing a few guards along the way. You reach the golem creation room. The chamber is all but empty. Some tables with nothing on them, a few cages, one torn up from Shemrata getting thrown against it. Once everyone is in, Velencia stops the party.
VEL: I wanted to do this at the Dolphin, but… situations warranted a change of plans. Bastian, Khamyra take a look at the Sigil, make sure you are confident on it working the best you can. We need to know what this sigil represents in this room, the symbol, so we can get back.
She steps aside. Khamyra and Bastian nod their head, walk to the back.
VEL: Do not go through it yet… please.
Chance: I hang back with Velencia waiting for Bastian and Khamyra to make sure the sigil is working.
DMaster: Velencia looks over the group.
VEL: Like I said I would of rather liked to do this at the Dolphin.
Velencia grabs your arm, she sighs heavy
Chance: Look at her as she grabs my arm
DMaster: She walks to the farthest part of the large chamber.
VEL: If I get to talk with Finster, I will have to give him an earful about this. If you tell anyone, so help me…
She looks you in your eyes
Chance: Raise an eyebrow giving her a look, looking into her eyes.
Chan: umm, ok. What is going on?
DMaster: She leans in and kisses you
Chance: My eyes go big as she does that
DMaster: Instant euphoria. Power surges, the kiss is as magical as Khamyra’s and power transfers, you two even sneak in a little tongue. Your body is going numb. She pulls back with a little moan.
VEL: That is what, our lord, wanted me to do. How do you feel?
Chance: Stare at her, wide eyes, mouth open. Seeing besides my body going numb if I feel any different
DMaster: DM: We have created Duskblade as it’s own Class now. Stats and feats have changed. This is where it happened.
Chance: Chan: I do feel a bit different, maybe a bit stronger, I am not quite sure
Still stunned by what just happened.
DMaster: Both of you turn and see Faelyn’s eyes as wide as they can be
FAE: Uhh, umm, ok, interrupting anything?
Chance: Blush a little.
Chan: You might want to have a word with her?
DMaster: Velencia looks at her. Faelyn just nods, and keeps walking towards you.
VEL: Time to go, let’s see what they found out.
She walks past. Faelyn gets to you, eye’s pretty wide.
Chance: Chan: Faelyn, not sure what the hell that was but it was the will of my lord. It appears I have been granted a gift of some kind.
DMaster: She pauses, smirk washing across her face.
FAE: Yeah, a gift. Might want to take a cold shower after a gift like that.
Chance: Shake my head, still stunned by what just happened.
DMaster: VEL: Khamyra and Bastian has secured the symbol needed to get back to this place. I am going in first. Faelyn, Chance you are going in after me. If its a tunnel or small room, we will just congregate, wait for the rest and move on together
VEL: Fae?
FAE: Yes, If it is a decent size chamber, we have to find all the breathing enemies. Meaning non-golems. Chance and myself will fan out right away, using our vision to get an idea of the surrounding area.
BAS: If and when we engage, aim, hit, stab, slash anything that breathes. Only attack a golem if you have nothing else, we kill the breathers, we stop the golems.
Faelyn nods her head in agreement.
Chance: Chan: Pretty easy to distinguish them too.
DMaster: They nod. Velencia looks back, beyond the group, nods and then looks at the group directly.
Chance: Look around at everyone, get ready to go through the sigil.
DMaster: Bastian glances back
BAS: Glad you could join us Baroness.
Chance: Turn around and look at Cassie and lip a small, thank you.
DMaster: She forces a smile, nods her head.
VEL: When we start the battle and I am sure we will find battle, we will stagger, 10 feet apart, so there spells will not affect more than one or two of us at a time.
She starts pointing at people.
VEL: I’ll be in front, Chance and Shemrata to my right and left, Faelyn behind Shemrata, Bastian behind Chance
VEL: Cassie and Mckenna, you will protect the Warlock for the first few, we just need people off her as she slings a few spells.
Winks at Khamyra.
VEL: Everyone ready?
Chance: Nod my head taking a deep breath
DMaster: She nods, waves her hand across the party. Her eyes flicker with power.
VEL: May Finsters strength guide you in the upcoming confrontations.
DM: +1 on everyone’s first attack
The Priestess turns and jumps into the sigil. Poof she is gone. Cassie’s eyes get big, looks around the room to see no one else is really surprised.
CASS: Uhhh what? What just happened?
Chance: Chan: Just go with it Baroness.
Giving her a small shoulder shrug, I draw silent fate waiting for Fae to jump in next
DMaster: Fae goes in, poof gone.
Chance: Chan: see you on the other side!
Smiling as I jump in
DMaster: After a few seconds of emptiness, the world rushes into you.
Chance: Take a second to focus, step out of the sigil. I will glance around quickly
DMaster: Looking around the chamber: It is huge. At first glance you can barely see the walls to your left and right, but can tell this section of the cavern is round in shape. There is this red mist all about, making it hard to see past your dark vision. There is a pretty loud rushing sound, like you were next to a waterfall echoing through this vast area. Looking up, the ceiling goes up a good 60-70 feet, almost to a point where you can’t see. But you can make out what appears to be a huge round hole in the center of the room, and light coming from it. Then it comes into focus more, as your eyes adjust to the mist. A mountain of something, thick and 100 feet wide at the bottom, and it peaks, almost to a point about 50 feet up. It is directly under the hole in the ceiling. You do not see anything moving, alive or golem.
Chance: Take up a position waiting for the others to arrive
DMaster: You audibly hear Velencia sigh. Faelyn has already headed to the right, slowly and cautiously.
VEL: When I say fan out, I mean, well, fan out! You dolt… man, you can’t remember shit can you? Did my kiss affect you that much?
The Priestess looking at you shaking her head. Khamyra is stepping out of the portal, wide eyes looking at you and Velencia.
Chance: Give Khamyra a look, shake my head and I start to fan out to the left
DMaster: The mist is hindering your vision, though you are not sure 60 feet would of made a difference. The walls are actually pretty smooth, and the back wall on your side is apparently empty.
Chance: Slowly move along, use my perception.
DMaster: You can’t see much past the mist, but as you progress forward, you suddenly realize something. That mountain under the huge circle… you see a leg, a few heads, mud, things dripping off it, half a body. It is a mountain of blood, mud and corpses. You gag a little, not believing what you see. Past that, you feel there are definitely things beyond the mist. Movement just out of sight, sounds just out of ear shot. By now the entire group is there, you can hear Faelyn who has made it back to the group.
FAE: That mound there in front of us…
She pauses a moment
VEL: Yah?
FAE: Is corpses, body parts, mud and blood…
Cassie audibly gasps as she is squinting, as everyone else does.
VEL: Take a look Baroness, these people have one idea in mind, and someones life is not a priority. They have a morality screw loose worse than me.
She chuckles, grabbing her daggers and drawing them out.
Chance: I am still slowly moving forward looking and listening, if nothing I will head back.
DMaster: As you turn, Velencia is already motioning you to get back to them.
VEL: Chump, get back here.
Chance: I creep back towards the group, shaking my head knowing she is really back to her old self.
DMaster: The Priestess looks at you.
VEL: Confirm? Dead body dump ahead of us? Anything else you two?
Chance: Look at her, nod my head.
Chan: Yes. It’s bodies, hopefully all dead. I could not make much past the red mist, though I felt there was something else.
DMaster: Faelyn nods her head
FAE: Yes, just out of reach it seems. Definitely something else there. The hole in the ceiling is the cloud formation, I could tell by the way it seems to move and look.
VEL: Ok, good. We have arrived to the place we need to be. Let me be the first to say, WHAT THE FUCK?
She says in a hiss, pointing at the mound.
FAE: I didn’t see anything past this weird red mist… I think it might be cast off blood.
Velencia’s eyes bulge and frantically moves to Khamyra. The Warlock looks up to the Priestess from mumbling a few things, probably preparing for her spell. Her eyes are clear and beautiful.
VEL: Oh thank Finster.
Chance: Chan: there is something definitely beyond the mist I could feel it. Like with Fae’s vision, didn’t help much with whatever this mist is
DMaster: Bastian is looking around, nods. Converses with McKenna quickly.
BAS: I think Fae is right, it is cast off blood. Blood that has lost it’s life essence, it’s dead so to speak.
McKenna nods her head, holding out her hand and trying to grab some, but really can’t. Just then a bright light forms above the group, in between the mountain and where you stand.
Chance: Chan: Guess they know the party crashers are here.
Looking around, trying to see past the light that formed.
DMaster: Everyone slowly walks closer.
VEL: Need I remind you to get into formation now as we creep closer…
She says quietly. After about 30 or so feet. Everyone gets in their formation. There appears to be scaffolding around the mountain of corpses, some sigils, symbols around the base of the pile. Someone is standing in the middle.
Chance: I take up my position and get in formation, hand is on the necklace.
DMaster: Velencia puts her hand up for everyone to stop and she walks a good 10 feet closer. She is now about 50 feet from the horrific pile.
VEL: Eh? Is that you Azark?
DRO: No, you sent him… hmmm, well, best way to put it, on vacation.
VEL: Oh, your the smelly, ass faced man then?
You can hear him audibly sigh, even through the sound of rushing water.
DRO: Vile woman, I will talk to your Champion and no one else
VEL: Uh no, your talking to me, now.
He leans forward on the railings.
DRO: You are quick to voice, but your hearing seems to need a little work. I speak with your Champion or you turn around a leave, force-ably if it has to be.
Chance: Walk to Velencia, give her a look, putting my hand on her arm.
DMaster: Velencia sighs. waves you on.
Chance: Take off my necklace, go full Champion.
DMaster: It’s almost hard to hear with the roaring sound
VEL: Stay on point Chump, don’t go off on one of your little weird tangents ok?
She says quietly and frustrated.
Chance: Chan: He makes any sudden moves you all take him out
Saying it quietly. I walk forward, only about 10 feet. Stand and look up to him.
DMaster: You can just see a smile break across his face.
DRO: There you are, welcome Champion. If we must converse, we should do it with, a little bit of respect.
Chance: Nod at him in a sign of respect
Chan: Sorry to intrude, but I am sure you can understand our presence here.
DMaster: He snorts a little, stands straight again.
DRO: Aye. Yes. It was foretold.
Chance: Tightening my grip around silent fate.
Chan: Foretold? If it was foretold, then why this…
Furry my brow, waving my hand across the area where the bodies are.
Chan: …Horrific setup?
Raising an eyebrow.
DMaster: DRO: Think of this as an introduction. Something to get Legon’s attention.
Chance: Shake head slowly
Chan: Drozcon, a handshake would of done just fine.
DMaster: He chuckles that leads into a belly laugh. It echoes through out.
DRO: I suppose that could of been an option.
He looks down directly at you.
DRO: I am disappointed that I cannot accept your request earlier in my chambers. It would of been an honor to face off with you… but alas, my lady’s fancy is always growing and changing. Her ambitions lead me elsewhere for now…
Chance: Chan: Care to indulge me? Where too?
DMaster: You can see him smirk and shake his head.
Chance: Chan: but, let me guess, you are going to leave us with some parting gifts?
DMaster: He laughs again.
DRO: ahhh yes. But not without our respect and admiration. oh, and… you might want to pick up the pace a little.
He waves his hands, the sigils at the bottom of the mass mountain pop and spark, then a mini explosion. The ground rumbles a little, you see some water pour in from the top. The rushing sound sounds like it is stuttering.
Chance: Chan: yeah, goodbye to you as well!
I turn and quickly run back to the group
DMaster: He disappears around the scaffold. Khamyra raced back to the sigil you came through.
KHA: FUCK! The sigil’s sign. All three are of WATER! Were stuck!
Chance: Chan: yeah a little parting gift from them, well… shit
DMaster: As you get to the party, Faelyns eyes get big. The ground rumbles more, some water splashing in. She points to the right and left.
FAE: And we got company
One side, coming from the red mist is a sentinel and a hulk, the other side, two more sentinels. All walking towards you
SHEM: umm
The Odius walks a few feet forward, squinting. She turns back to the group.
SHEM: A spider. A motherfucking spider…
She points down the middle. At the pile of corpses, now having water slowly cascading down on it, creeping around it…
Chance: looking to see what it is we see
DMaster: DM: I was too busy downloading images of Christina Lucci. Forgot to save the graphic I made. 10 minute delay as I recreate it.
A massive spider looking creature is crawling across the mound of parts, has to be 20 feet wide, 12 feet high and 30-35feet long. 3 sentinels, 1 hulk and 1 massive spider golem, all while the chamber is beginning to come apart, and no way to get back home, that you know of…
Battle Written Out
“They get uglier and uglier don’t they?” Chance says musing a bit, turning and getting ready for battle, “Damn, this place is going to come down around us!”
Velencia moving forward a bit, “perceptive as always genius!” She snarks back, “The spider is mine, everyone else, take the rest…” she says with a bit of a snarl.
The party then notices, the constructs do not move very fast. “Well, don’t wait on an invitation, you have spells, arrows, rocks, mugs, hell throw your panties if you think it will help!” The Priestess blurts out glancing back, “we can get in a good volley before they reach us!”
“Dammit! I don’t see any Acolytes or Priests, who the hell is controlling them?” Faelyn yells above all the noise, drawing back her bow.
DM: Todd wanted to use a bow. I had to make a decision, he has not used a bow in like 10-15 battles, and never says he is bringing it. So when he said he was pulling out his bow I made a DM decision. From now on if they have weapons equipped in the last battle, they will automatically carry forward to the next. He has to tell me he has something new otherwise. Since he hasn’t used a bow since “Oh… Shit” EP, his bow is in his house back in Greyshale.
TOP OF ROUND ONE
Shemrata spots the Hulk, and her eyes bulge, jaw clenched and she takes her 30 feet towards it, raising her Crossbow and firing, like she was possessed. The bolt sails and lodges in between the breast plate and arm bands (9hp) and her second shot lands in the creature’s upper arm (12hp rolled a natty).
“Shem! Keep rank! Oh hell…” the Priestess yells, seeing the Odius racing for the Hulk. One hand on her necklace, her other arm raising high, “By Finster’s fire!!!” she yells and flames erupt under the Spider (20hp Spider misses saving throw). It continues to lumber forward, some flames still apparent on it.
McKenna fumbles with her Crossbow, looking around and seeing this scenario unfold around her. For a split second she regrets coming in; a collapsing chamber, golems heading our way and a goddamn spider, she thinks. Raising her Crossbow, fires and it sails past the Hulk. She curses, quickly reloads and fires and this bolt bounces off the breast plate, falling to the now puddling floor.
Chance’s formation to bark begins, grabs his Black Ward dagger and flings it at the Sentinel to the right. He lost grip and the dagger went flying backwards (rolled a “1” LOLOL). Cassie, alert, made the duck to avoid getting stuck with a blade. Her eyes bulge and then just glares at the Champion who cringes and shrugs his shoulders in response.
With speed that you can barely see, Faelyn shoots off two arrows at the Sentinel next to the Hulk. Thud, Thud, both hit hard (7hp and 11hp), only making the golem stop for a half second, then continuing to lumber on.
The master witch glances over to Cassie, “Cass, you didn’t see anything!” he yells, pulling out a fire potion. McKenna glances over and her eyes bulge, “that’s what you were trying to hide from me this morning!?!?” she exclaims. Bastian snorts, takes a running start and launches the potion hitting the Spider directly (10hp make savings throw, damage cut in half).
Cassie shakes her head thinking, that is the least of our worries master witch. She grabs her hand crossbow and grumbles, it is far from her favorite weapon. She fires only to have it sail over the head of a sentinel, and the other bounce off the plate armor. In a frustrated laugh, she shakes her head.
DM: At the beginning of each round, Todd has to roll a 1d20. The Chamber has 100 hp, per say. Each roll starts to take away from the total, meaning the Chamber gets more full of water and starts to collapse more. Once it hits 100, the place falls in upon itself, water rushing in. Most likely, death to all. It started at 90hp with the initial wave of Drozcons hand (10hp).
The constructs are now in striking distance. Chance’s bark is now fully around him. The water is starting to pour in more, rocks and debris falling faster (Todd rolls a 19, of course, LOL. 71hp left for the chamber).
Ignoring the yells of Velencia, Shemrata races for the Hulk. She snaps her metal whip and flings it around the massive golem, slipping around its neck (6hp) and then she pulls making it tighter (4hp more damage). Then running and pulling herself forward she jumps on the Hulk and drives her dagger deep into its neck (6hp). The Hulk has stopped moving, confused in its own way not being able to move (failed his grapple savings throw).
Velencia takes a deep breath, says a quick prayer to Finster and races for the Spider. She is deceptively fast, so as the Spider raises its leg to attack she slides underneath like she was going into home base. She runs her hand across the bottom of the Spider, (55hp of damage transfer, used her highest spell slot, spider failed throw). Everyone can see the huge construct, stutter a bit and flinch a few times. Still underneath and before what she predicts it to rear up, she drives both her daggers into the exposed belly, punching through like a fork through sausage (11hp of damage). Mud and blood spurt out on her and she tries to avoid it.
As predicted, the Spider rears up, and Velencia watches closely, the legs and mouth of this intricately crafted golem, just waiting for the attack. She did not take into account the stinging backside. It drives into her shoulder, ripping through some bone, muscle and injecting poison (15 piercing, 21 poison damage she made her savings throw). She audibly gasps and lets out a little scream. The pain was immense.
When the construct does this, it is vulnerable, and the closest non engaged enemy can attack. Faelyn sees the opportunity and fires an arrow at the massive beast. Thud! Can be heard, hitting right at the connections of all the legs (rolled a 20, but rolled 5 for damage, 11hp total).
The spider then on it’s way down, with Velencia grabbing for her shoulder, it drives its fangs deep into her side and stomach (10hp pierce, 19hp of poison, made her savings throw). She could not even let out another yell or scream, the pain was immeasurable.
McKenna is shaking a bit in fear, but she takes a hard swallow and races for the Sentinel next to the Hulk. She slashes and the thin long blade glances off the plate. Taking a quick second, her blade will do much more damage piercing, she thinks to herself. With that in mind the Witch Blade lunges outwards and up, through the neck of the golem (11hp). A smile washes over her face, but then quickly fades seeing it didn’t seem to affect it much.
After a bit of confusion, a steel whip around it’s neck and some creature stabbing it, while attached… the hulk seems it had enough of this shit. Puts its sword in between the whip chains and his neck, quickly yanks forward and a loud metal snap could be heard (made it’s STR saving throw – Hulk still took 8hp of damage). Chain links, mini spikes explode across the room, making McKenna duck a little after her attack. With only one thing on it’s mind, get this, whatever, straddling it, off it. It grabs for the Odius who dodged it once, but it found its way to her horns, rips them up bringing her off the hulk. “Arrgg!” Shemrata yells, eyes wide. The creature throws the Odius down with so much force, it echoes through the chamber (12hp – she made her save, she is not prone).
Chance now barked up, makes an odd decision and races for the Sentinel that is engaged with McKenna. This clearly took him in the path of the Spider. The huge creature struck out with one of it’s front legs, that is in the shape of a great sword. It hits and pierces the Champion, despite his extra protection (12hp).
It made the Champion stutter for a moment, but his momentum carried him to the Sentinel and he slash’s downward with his new initiative perk for the Duskblade, ripping in between the chest plate and arm (9hp). He then winds up again and takes a wild swing, ripping into the plate metal armor, digging deep (11hp), then in a final gasp and burst of energy he yanks out the sword and drives it deep into the now open area of its chest (13hp). McKenna steps back a second, wide eyes and says “Damn,” with a tone that she was impressed. With that though, the Sentinel is wobbling a bit, and a crack sound can be heard.
With what stability it still has, that same golem swings the massive sword hard. Chance jumped back and it missed but McKenna was not ready and got clocked in her stomach making her exhale forcefully (13hp). A crack sound accompanied this hit too. With the mud and blood oozing out of the now struggling golem, it’s foot slides and it loses its footing. Chance gives Finster a little air-fist-bump because McKenna was going to get clocked again.
The Huntress fumbles a moment rifling through her quiver, without looking, knowing her stock like the back of her hand, she finds what she is looking for. Whips out an arrow with a small red vial attached to it, strings it up. She pauses just a moment, takes a deep breath and focuses. The Spiders eyes should be far enough away from Velencia, she thinks to herself. The arrow flies and strikes true. Thud… boom! The huge creature stutters a bit as fire explodes across the top of it (29hp). Velencia far enough underneath, and avoided the explosion (made her savings throw). Then in ¼ seconds time she has another arrow notched and fires again, hitting the Spider practically in the same spot (10hp).
Bastian see’s Khamyra’s eyes start to go a little wild, and very interested, he steps back. Khamyra throws a bit of dust in the air, traces a symbol and says “fuego-durge.” She braces herself and flames pour out of her hand with such force and violence. It is very focused, as it streaks for the Spider, hitting it square in the kisser. Again Velencia seemed to avoid the friendly fire that was possible (made savings throw). The Spider right after an explosion from Faelyn, gets another one, but this time it is not as bad (17hp, made it’s savings throw).
Cassie eyes up the two uncontested golems heading towards her, looks over to Bastian and Khamyra, makes a quick decision. She slaps Bastian on the ass, as though to say keep Khamyra safe. The Psi Warrior races way faster than humanly possible and tries to drive her sai into one of the approaching golems. Only to have it bounce off the plate. It resounded and kind of hurt her hand. “Bullocks!” she yells, quickly looks over the construct in front of her and drives the other sai into it’s neck (7hp). With an extra surge of power she puts her hand out to the other golem, hitting it with force, not doing damage but pushing it back, scrambling with its balance a good 15 feet.
Bastian mumbling about having a better ranged attack next battle, grabs both his daggers and flings them at the Spider. Both of them hit and bounce off the thick leather skin of the creature, despite it smoldering with fire and charred skin.
TOP OF ROUND TWO
Chance’s bark has only one more round. The water is starting to pour in more, rocks and debris falling faster. A decent amount of water, is now across the floor, almost 3 inches deep. (Todd rolls a 20, of course, LOL. 51hp left for the chamber).
Shemrata pulling herself back up, anger just exploding out of her brings her double edged scimitar down, only to have it clank off the Hulks helmet. She then twirls it and drives it into the neck (8hp), doing little damage. A little deja-vu starting to take hold of the Legion Odius.
As Velencia is trying to roll out from under the Spider, regretting her decision to be there, she clears the belly, jumps up, twirls her daggers, grabs them tight and drives them both into the side of the Spider. The first one, bends and does not break, while the other hits a construction seam and drives deep into it (8hp). Still reeling from the last spell and the hits, she grabs hold of the spiders leg and transfers more damage (17hp – only a 3rd level). It’s all she could do right now.
In retaliation, the spider’s leg knocks Velencia backwards a bit, she tries to catch her balance in the now deteriorating environment. It opens it’s mouth and out of this tube shoots a poison liquid hitting the Priestess directly in the chest (13hp of damage, she missed her savings throw). It is a wide stream, so the two sentinels behind the Priestess, about 15 feet away are in range. One of the Sentinels gets it full blast (13hp), the other it misses a bit (7hp). Cassie see’s this in the corner of her eyes and she jumps back (7hp) only getting a little.
As Velencia frantically wipes the poison off her and away from her gaping wounds, the spider clamps down on her again, one fang into her left shoulder and the other under her right boob. Poison gets transferred into her body and everyone can hear her scream in pain (11hp of piercing, 16hp of poison made her savings throw). The spider lets go, turning it’s body towards the Priestess. Velencia’s eyes wide, trying to breathe she goes to one knee. She has not been this hurt in battle this bad in a long time, maybe ever.
McKenna slashes at the Sentinel, and she curses as she does remembering it probably won’t go well, and it didn’t. It bounces off the plate. She eyes up a spot on it’s neck again and lunges for it. It drives the sword into the neck, through its mushy head and out the top of it’s “skull” making the helm pop off (14hp). It falls back and lands in a wet loud splat, into the now rising water on the floor.
After getting in a little shot in on the Hulk, it rears its arm back and drives his arm-blade deep into the Odius making her gasp (16hp). She reaches for her chest and tries to grab the hulk’s arm to get the sword out, it only aids the Hulk in lifting her up, her horns again a convenient handle, she gets slammed so hard down, water splashes a good 20 feet away (24hp rolled a nat). The sound was like metal on metal, Shemrata in a blinding blurry wave of pain and anxiety now, thinking she is now reliving her nightmare from last time (she fails her save, she is prone next round).
Chance seeing the Sentinel go down, turns to the Spider and the construct was unaware of the Champion’s closeness. Chance lunges and rips into the skin like a knife into turkey dinner (14hp). As he pulls back, to strike again, he loses footing. He waves his arms a bit, trying and successfully catching his balance, but losing the rest of his turn (rolled a 1. His turn ends, so his attempt to action surge was not allowed).
Faelyn now getting annoyed by the rising waters, splashes to the left a bit more, and see’s Shemrata once again getting owned. The Huntress fires her arrow and hits the Hulk in it’s neck (rolled a 20, but rolled 1 for damage, 8hp). Frustrated, Faelyn, strings another one, her hands and arrow glows and her eyes flicker. The Arrow flies and hits the opposite side of the neck from before. Thud!(9hp pierce, 6hp necrotic).
Bastian glances to Khamyra who is shaking her hands of smoke from her last spell, “I’ll be right back” he yells. Races his 30 feet and gets to Velencia. On his way there, he grabs his vial of Nostrum liquid, and as he gets to her, he pours it on her wounds (6hp heal) then their eyes meet. She softly smiles, opens her mouth and he tosses just a little in. She winces a bit (10hp heal). “Oh that’s worse than Wilder’s Brew!” She yells. He smirks, turns to the spider and drives his battle staff into the now growing seams of the spider (12hp). It is looking a little less for wear, legs not coordinating, trying to balance itself.
Cassie, after her Psi push turns to see the other Sentinel taking a wide arcing swipe at her. With a little Psi help she jumps over the attack. But the time it took her to land, the golem grabbed her by the front of the armor and drives her so hard to the ground. She bends a wrong way, she winces and it kicks her square in the chest. She lands hard, on her back into the water with an audible gasp (19hp).
Feeling another attack coming on, Cassie rolls in the water and sure enough a massive sword lands next to her with a splashy thud. She goes to pull herself off the floor and out of the water only to get uppercut hit by the massive stone/metal sword(22hp). It cracks her chin, her vision goes blank and pain sears through her skull. She goes flying backwards, landing hard on her back, ass over tea-kettle.
Khamyra seeing Velencia down to one knee, Cassie getting cranked and Shemrata going down, she goes into a mini rage. Her eyes flicker with power, she races for the Spider, she skitters to a halt, dust up, symbol drawn and she yells “Eldritch!” Three bolts of arcane energy streak from her raised hand striking the spider (18hp) all the wile she is screaming at the huge golem. It splits the spider practically in two, and a loud wet explosion echoes throughout the chamber, as the large construct explodes.
Cassie quickly picks herself up out of the water, red faced with anger, “you smelly bags… of… fuck!” She yells, and jams her hand out to both of the Sentinels. They both start back peddling, trying to catch their footing, but sending them both back 15 feet (each taking 15hp of force damage too).
TOP OF ROUND THREE
Chance’s bark is now gone. The water is still pouring in, rocks and debris falling a little less, but the Cave / chamber ceiling is cracking, water pouring into the seams, some light starts to come out of the cracks. About half a foot of water on the floor. (Todd rolls a 13, of 38hp left for the chamber). All movement reduced by 10 feet.
Velencia grabs Bastian and looks at him, “Go to the sigil now, figure it out, get us the fuck out of here!” she growls. He nods his head, and his turn is taken with him trudging through the water, mud and blood. The Priestess turns to the 2 stunned Sentinels that Cassie forced back, she raises her hand and yells “By Finsters Fire!.” Out of the water spurts flames, steam pushed out as well (15hp to both Sentinels).
McKenna then tries to drive her sword into an unsuspecting Hulk, only to have it bounce off it’s armor. She growls a bit, gets her feet situated and drives again, only to have it hit, and slide to one side. “What the hell!” she yells.
Hearing the Witch blade yell, the Hulk quickly turns to McKenna. It almost takes a header with the water and mud but catches itself (rolls a 2). As McKenna recoiled from her miss, she finds herself being raised up off the ground by her throat, her breathing impossible right now. The Hulk throws the Witchblade 20 feet where she lands against the wall, water and floor with a bone crunching thud and splash (15hp and she failed her prone.) Pain washing over her like she has never felt in her life, she gasps a bit, getting water in her mouth, She coughs, spits and is dazed from the violent attack.
Seeing this Chance’s anger grows. “Time for you to go, go home to the shit on the floor!” He yells. The Hulk was not looking at him and Chances first attack was a doozy, slashing through some open areas of the golem (18hp). It made the Hulk stutter back a bit and Silent Fates critical reactionary attack, wizzes by the creature. But the creature is struggling to stay upright, from the hard attack, mud and water underfoot. Chance then slashes across the large creature’s neck, digging deep (11hp) and it suddenly starts to shutter, crack a bit. Chance then jumps up, twirls his sword and drives it down in between the breast plate and neck, with such force it pops out the back. The Golem leans one way and splits and falls into a splash and puddles of mud.
Velencia glances over her shoulder to Chance, and sees him dispatch the hulk. Their eyes meet for a brief moment and a small nod comes from her and a quick smile. She turns back to the battle.
Faelyn see’s the end of the hulk and races to her left, trudging through the water, getting in range of one of the Sentinels left. She fires. The arrow wizzes in between Velencia and Cassie striking the Golem in a seam (10hp). She fires again, but oddly enough the creature deflects it with its sword.
Bastian at the sigil, grabbing at his notes is frantically moving dirt and debris in the water away from the base sigil on the floor. “Shit, I hope this works in water, goddammit!” (DM: Had Todd roll how good he does, and he rolls a 2, LOL, of course he does).
The one sentinel that just deflected the arrow, gets to Cassie and swings it’s sword hard down. Cassie thinks of parrying the blow, but realizes, with her little sais, that’s not a good idea. She jumps to one side. Her footing slipped a little and that is all the Golem needed. His second swing lands square into her gut, spit and air forcefully leaves the Baronesses mouth, sending her bent over and 5 feet back (15hp).
The other Sentinel makes it to Velencia and she is in no condition to dodge. The swing hits her hard, down on her shoulder making her cry a little and wince (20hp). Then it swipes again, clocking her straight into the face sending her sprawling into the 6-7 inches of water. She is seeing stars, and she recalls the last time she felt this bad, Chance was throwing her around like a rag doll.
Khamyra races for Velencia after making a decision between the sigil and saving Velencia. There was no decision with that, she thinks to herself. With a little sand still in her hand she tosses it, traces a symbol and yells “eldritch!” again. Power and energy streaks out of her hand striking the Golem above Velencia (17hp) essentially splitting this construct in two as well. With a little movement left, she grabs Velencia and is helping her up.
In a foggy haze, Shemrata is back on her feet and races the best she can with cloven feet and legs. Grabs her crossbow, looks to fire at the sentinel only to hit the deeper, thicker mud of the Spider guts and she goes head first into the mud and water. A loud splash is heard as the Odius, in pure frustration slides 5 feet in the mix on the floor.
Velencia tries and sits up, goes to one knee, lunges for the final Sentinel and with all the power she has, she transfers damage into the golem (34hp a 5th level) making it all but explode sending mud and blood across that portion of the chamber. Little and big plops heard in the rising water. She then almost collapses into the water. The Onyx elf grabs her and helps her to her feet.
Turn Based Starts Again
DMaster: Water is coming in, but seems to have stopped coming in worse than before. The water slowly rising, now well above the ankles.
VEL: To the sigil everyone!
Chance: Turn and head for Bastian and the sigil.
DMaster: The party reachs him. Seeing he is struggling.
DM: Roll again for the Chamber, this time Todd rolls a 1. 37hp left for the room.
VEL: Bast, come on what’s going on?
BAS: I am not sure if this will work! Never did blood magic, hello!
Khamyra runs over.
DM: After 4 other people rolled bad on Arcana, Khamyra comes through with a Natural 20!
She grabs the notes out of Bastians hands, takes a minute to look it over. Sounds of water rushing in, rocks, stones, debris falling into the now forming half foot lake. She grabs her dagger and starts chipping the water symbol. Makes it as smooth as possible. By now the water rising another inch, more rumbling… weird sounds, stuttering rushing noises. She is scraping a symbol. She steps back, looks at the paper, then at the symbol.
VEL: Sometime today hun, this is not a warm bubble bath here!
DM: Rolls again, 6 hp this time, down to 31hp.
Chance: Keep an eye on the chamber, make sure nothing else is coming.
DMaster: Nothing, the red mist is swirling about, water pouring in on and around the horrible pile of bodies.
KHA: Only one chance at this vel! Fuck here we go, step back
She cuts her hand and before she could slap the wall with it, the master witch stops her. He shakes his head. He wipes his hand across her wound, slaps the wall and mutters a word. Under the water you see the sigil light up.
KHA: This is on me, my symbol, my responsibility
She jumps in, water splashes. Poof she is gone.
VEL: Everyone, go go go!
DM: Rolled a 12 for the massive room, as they all leave the chamber only had 19hp left.
Chance: I don’t need to be told twice, I jump into the sigil
DMaster: Poof! You end up in the golem making room.
Chance: Step out, sheath Silent Fate, put my necklace on.
DMaster: Khamyra grabs you, and gives you a warm hug when you are out of the area. Poof! Poof! Poof!
They all start showing up
Chance: Hugging her back and smile. Waiting to make sure everyone shows up safe and sound, while still hugging her
DMaster: The group is a little stunned at the events, just breathing a bit heavy looking at each other. Faelyn and Khamyra were untouched, though Khamyra looks like she did with mud all over her from the spider exploding. Faelyn is pretty clean. Velencia is trying to stand tall, but you can tell she is in a great deal of pain. Some blood dripping off her, poison oozing out of her. Some blood trickling from her mouth, dirt and mud smeared across her face. Shemrata is looking bad too, her eyes all blood shot, blood coming out, and visible open wound on her face, absolutely douched in mud and blood. McKenna is wincing, holding her ribs. Bastian is over at her, talking with her quietly. Cassie stands there on the edge of the sigil, being the last in, breathing a bit heavy. She touches her face and side, a soft light emenates, and she heals herself.
Chance: Stop hugging and look over to Velencia.
DMaster: Three guards come forward, who were on guard in the room.
GUARD: What happened?
VEL: The ground opened up and swallowed us whole…
She says with pure sarcasm and an annoyed look.
VEL: We are now in the underearth… what do you think happened?
The guard skitters to a halt, eyes big, looking at her shocked, hearing the response. Then you can hear people yelling down the tunnels. Everyone takes a few steps to the tunnels, hoping this is not another attack.
KHA: Goddammit, what now?
A few guards come rushing in
GUARD: The cloud is disappearing, it’s…
He sees the group now, eyes even wider, big smile.
GUARD: You did it! You did it! Its disapating!!! It’s breaking apart!
You can hear what you think is thunder and you can feel a fresh wet breeze come rushing in through the tunnels. Velencia points to the entrance, winces a bit.
VEL: Lets go look at our handy work
Chance: As she says that I make my way over to her and go to touch her hand. Not saying anything as I do and heal her
DMaster: She stops you. Allows everyone to pass. Khamyra giving both of you a slightly suspicious and confused look. But continues out of the chamber.
VEL: Not now. I need to feel this… pain.
She says looking down, taking a few tough breaths. Looks at you, wipes some blood from her mouth. Water and mud dripping off her nose.
VEL: What you need to do to heal me, is going to wipe you out. We can wait until we get back to the dolphin.
Chance: Give her a look, nod.
Chan: You were… amazing.
Not caring if she punches me or scowls, she was, amazing.
DMaster: A small smile washes over her face. A soft look for a moment, then she shakes her head and pushes you forward to the entrance. You walk out to 10 guards all looking into the sky, a slight misty rain coming down. They see the party and start to cheer. As you walk out completely, you see a great circle of open blue sky, surrounded by large billowing white rain and storm clouds. They are all moving off and the hole is getting bigger as it disapates more. The clouds billow and they move with haste.
Chance: A big smile goes to my face marveling at the sight, enjoying the rain.
DMaster: Velencia makes her way to your fiance and they hug. They just rock back and forth a bit, and it kind of hits you. Khamyra and Velencia always had a bond, but with your children and the Priestesses fierce protection of them, they are as close as ever. Bastian, Cassie and Mckenna all go to the edge of the area and are looking up. Shemrata, makes her way to the back, finds Tamsus who jumps down and nuzzles her, even through her pain she smiles. Faelyn stands in the middle looking up, and letting the heavier rain fall on her
VEL: You saved my ass back there brown eyes…
Khamyra hugs a bit tighter, making the Priestess wince… but also making her smile even more.
KHA: How many times have you bailed our asses out, huh?
Chance: I will let everyone have their moment as I walk a bit away from the group. Dip my head uttering a silent prayer to Finster
DMaster: The rain is falling even harder now. You feel a hand on your shoulder
Chance: Look back at the hand on my shoulder
DMaster: It’s Velencia again. She is looking dead in your eyes, she softly smiles
VEL: Keep proving me wrong.
Pats your shoulders.
VEL: Chump.
Smirks and walks away.
Chance: Smile softly as Velencia walks away, let out a little chuckle. Walk over to Khamyra and hold out my hand to her
DMaster: She takes it and practically jumps into your arms, big smile on her face. She kisses your cheek.
DM: Condensing a bit.
After a few more minutes of enjoying the victory, everyone starts to climb and walk across the rough terrain to the smooth plateau. The rain is coming down pretty good, wind is picking up a bit. But not a word of complaint from anyone. Eventually they reach the gates, some guards jumping around in puddles. They see the party, most point and their eyes get big. They start to cheer, yell and clap. You go down the main road, one side street that leads to the dolphin. You walk in, everyone is drenched, water dripping off them, clothes clinging to them. Velencia got Khamyra, Shemrata and Chance to the back preparing room. For a minute, a prayer was given to Finster, giving thanks and praising him. The other two leave, Khamyra grabs your hand, A small spark.
KHA: Umm, do I need to ask about a “kiss” between you and Velencia?
Chance: Smile and chuckle.
Chan: It was… really weird. She said something about yelling at Finster if she meets him and she kissed me. It made my whole body numb, and I felt better, stronger.
DMaster: She steps back, eyes bigger.
KHA: Oh. Her kiss makes you all numb and stronger?
Chance: Without looking at her, not sure if she was serious or not, sigh and chuckle.
Chan: sure, why not.
DMaster: As you look up at her, she has a goofy smile on her face and pushes you playfully.
KHA: Let’s not make it a habit ok? Otherwise I will have to find some hot man meat to make out with…
She slaps your ass and walks out.
DM: Condensing a bit.
Lunch was started, a new keg of ale is opened. Mugs getting handed around, most frown at the taste but they couldn’t care less right now. Kellen comes ripping into the Tavern, looks around and sees Cassie. She was talking with Faelyn, did not see him. He goes running to her, and picks her up, swings her around. Faelyn moves back, wide eyes watching it happen. Cassie smiles then playfully scolds him. He puts her down and looks into her eyes. She looks in his, smiles a little then looks away and around the room. Most of the people did not see them, so she breathed a sigh of relief. Velencia and Faelyn have a short conversation. Velencia leaves the talk nodding her head. She gets to the bar, steps on a chair.
Chance: Chan: oh brother, Velencia talking… this should go over like white underwear at a shit factory.
Mumble that.
DMaster: VEL: Everyone everyone. This will only take a minute.
She is struggling still, she is almost shaking. She wipes some blood from her mouth. The room quiets down
VEL: You can thank me later, I stopped Faelyn from talking… we would of been here all day and night.
The room chuckles, the Huntress gives the Priestess a “really” look.
VEL: We did it. WE, fucking, did, it!
The room erupts again in cheers, mugs of questionable ale being raised.
Chance: I smirk, then head up the stairs wanting to get the mud and blood off of me.
DMaster: Khamyra grabs your hand and keeps you down with her, she shakes her head
Chance: Grab her hand and hold it tight and smile, giving her a small nod and lean in.
DMaster: Velencia takes a gulp and frowns.
VEL: Sorry for this swill… well it keeps you regular anyways.
Everyone chuckles and laughs.
VEL: Just wanted to acknowledge a few people… Camerondale. You know who you are, thank you for your assistance in this. There could of been a lot of red tape, and you allowed us to move right on through it getting to the heart of the issues. Hope you aren’t going to get your ass spanked too hard when you get home.
She chuckles. Camerondale people do not chuckle, they exchange glances.
VEL: But, Bast, you were great, and hun, your secrets are safe with me.
She lifts her mug and winks. His face goes blank, white as a ghost, goofy smile and nods, looking around.
VEL: Khamyra, you nasty bitch, you were awesome, as usual. I can’t imagine going into a battle without you by my side. Faelyn, we knocked heads a lot, but damn, if there is anyone who can sling arrows its you. Your tenasity, your drive and your aim was invalueable. Shemrata, your thirst for blood is going to be the death of you. You were so important to this venture, so glad you are with us.
She pauses and looks over to you.
VEL: Chump?
she pauses, looks down
Chance: Eyes turn to her as she says that
DMaster: She shakes her head,
VEL: No, no. This day, you are our Champion.
She raises her mug
VEL: You keep proving yourself, never stop taking on the big bad… unless Khamyra scolds you too many times.
She gives a playful look and everyone laughs.
Chance: My eyes get big hearing her say that.
DMaster: She steps off the chair, winces again.
VEL: Now chance get your ass over here and heal me before I start getting grumpy!
Chance: Nod my head and chuckle, walk over, take off my necklace. Look at her in her eyes. Put my hand to her cheek, then around the side of her neck. Let the power flow.
DMaster: Khamyra followed and has her hand in yours as you heal. You go to one knee afterwards, taking a wild breath.
Chance: Breathing heavy after healing her (only 70hp returns)
DMaster: She smiles and very softly says
VEL: Thank you
Chance: Nod, stand back up.
Chan: no, thank you for believing in me when I even doubted myself
Giving her a small smile.
DMaster: Then, like it was a light switch, a wave of disgust washes over her face. She pushes you a little
VEL: Don’t get all sappy on me chump
Khamyra, leans in to you and lets out a laugh.
Chance: Chan: I would never do that, why waste it on a cold hearted nasty bitch like yourself.
DMaster: Velencia’s eyes get big, a hidden smile and flips her hand your way, like the Priestess usually does.
Chance: Holding Khamyra’s hand just a bit longer than I normally would and look into her eyes
Chan: and you, my love, thank you as well for keeping me focused
DMaster: She snuggles into you
KHA: Besides all the battling, my ass is what you really have been focused on…
A giggle slips from her mouth.
Chance: Chan: Me? That is what “I” am focused on? Why I can… you know… you are right.
Pull her in tighter.
Chan: I love you so much
As she snuggles into me, kiss her on top of the head and smile
DMaster: Quietly and with a warm tone.
KHA: I love you too, my Champion.
The day goes on, you have some questionable sandwiches and soup. Spirits are high and the downpour turned into a steady rain that gets cheered and toasted. Eventually, a pinkish, purple light streaking in. The sun setting, and you can actually see it. It is not grey overcast. Looking further out, the push of clouds have made it miles north and south, etc. The horizon to the north is dark with clouds, looks like a good downpour and a few storms heading towards Camerondale. Cassie walks over to you, grabs your hand and you two walk out the door.
Chance: Grab her hand, walk out with her. Look over to the sun setting.
DMaster: The streets are wet, more people out, they keep looking to where the cloud formation used to be, now it’s just partly cloudy skies.
Chance: I look around at all the people out and about and smile knowing something good was accomplished.
DMaster: Cassie is looking out against the skies.
CASS: Well, quite the day today. I have to admit, when that spider came around, I was a bit worried… not having my usual people around me. I wasn’t sure…
Chance: Chan: well you should have seen the snake I had to deal with earlier.
Chuckling
DMaster: Her eyes get big and smirks. Its just a misty rain now, on and off as a passing cloud dumps a bit on you.
CASS: Snake? Spiders? Jebus. Well, this report to Bozzuto is going to fly like a brick shithouse
She shakes her head
CASS: Jerry would get it, he has been in the heat of battles beyond our comprehension… so he gets it. Do what it takes to get the job done…
Chance: Chan: yeah, I am sure he is not going to be thrilled about it but we needed the Priestess, that’s for sure.
DMaster: She reluctantly nods her head, a small sigh escaping.
CASS: As good as Bozutto is with almost all the King duties, he doesn’t get the life or death you face out here fighting every goddam thing coming at you. Hell, my daughter knows the issues you can face better.
She looks up to the sky, then back to you.
Chance: Chan: True. Affinity was face to face with an Assassin. I hope one day he will understand the perils of being out here.
DMaster: She nods her head.
CASS: She has really stepped back and became more of an advisor to Bozzy. I am not a fan of that, but it seems to be working pretty good.
Chance: Chan: maybe with time and Jerry guiding him, he will understand. But for the foreseeable future I don’t see it happening. Not sure you can really hide some of the things that happened here, Velencia was an integratable part of it all.
DMaster: She shakes her head
CASS: You are right. We will just have to fess up. Bottomline, the drought is over, the immediate danger dispelled. He will have to be happy with that.
The Baroness turns to you.
CASS: You repeat a word of this to anyone I’ll create another butthole on your forehead. But that Priestess was fearless, put her life out there to protect others… The moment she had with Khamyra after the battle really made me confused. Then her speech…
She scoffs.
CASS: It’s easy to villianize someone, but seeing her NOT being an absolute bitch, was eye opening.
Chance: Smile a little
Chan: No, she is still a serious bitch.
Laugh.
Chan: but, hey, my lips are sealed I am just glad you got to see this other side of her, because hell no one would believe it anyways
DMaster: A few moments pass, the light misty rain goes away, the sky is darkening, the colorful sunset is slowly fading.
Chance: Chan: you know, I may be Finsters champion, and take it for what it is worth, but I will always be yours and Affinity’s Champion too.
Looking over at her
DMaster: A big smile washes over her face, looks to you. Leans and gives you a hug.
Chance: Give her a small hug back.
DMaster: CASS: Me, McKenna and Kellen are heading to our little makeshift HQ, Bastian said he wanted to stick around a bit longer
She frowns and shakes her head
CASS: Wish I could read that little scoundrel…
Chance: Chan: Probably tying up, umm, loose ends.
DMaster: She glances up to you, raising an eyebrow. You two head back in the tavern. You have a bit more to eat, drink some ale, or what you think is ale. Shemrata is struggling a bit, holding her head here and there. She refused healing from Velencia and they have a mini-argument. Cassie, Mckenna and Kellen leave. After a while you see Velencia grab Bastian and head to the back. You and Khamyra exchange surprised looks.
Chance: Chan: That would explain her calling him hun
Saying quietly leaning into Khamyra. Then after watching Shemrata struggle all evening, head over to her.
DMaster: The Odius glances up, smiles a little and nods.
Chance: Look around make sure no one who isn’t supposed to be here is not. Then take off my necklace.
DMaster: She looks at you again and shakes her head in refusal.
Chance: Chan: Listen, Odius, you have more than proved to everyone in the room how powerful and tough you are. We have no questions about that. Now let me heal you, and show people you might be a little smart too.
DMaster: She gives you a look, takes a moment to ponder. Then nods her head. You heal her (only 25hp what he had left), and a look of relief washes over her and she takes a deep breath with a smile. She again nods to you in appreciation. You turn to see Khamyra has disappeared. You are still wiping half dried mud off you, and decide to head upstairs to get a bath. Much to your surprise, Khamyra is standing over the tub, now filled with water and some makeshift bubbles. She is only wearing her underwear… and a look you have seen many times before on her face.
The happy and horny couple have a wonderful night of bathing, laughing and love making. They end snuggling together and dreaming of the up coming days when they are with their children again.
Post Face
Cassie looks across the table to Kellen who is quietly eating his dinner. She lets out a sigh, meant to get his attention.
He slowly looks up with his dark haunting eyes, tilts his head, “yes?”
“Still not talking to me?” she says cringing a little, giving him puppy dog eyes.
After a minute of a stare down, he responds. “You knocked me out, and tied me up in this very room, I had to wait for servants to find and untie me…” he continues eyes widening, a little anger in his voice, “I can take care of myself, I am here to help, not be a burden to you. The idea…”
The Baroness looks down to her food, pushes it away half eaten. She is half listening to him now, knowing she didn’t have a choice. Kellen has never seen a true battle. Yes a skirmish here or there, and yes battle in many ways. But this was different, giant spiders, monstrous golem hulks. Her thoughts go to how he looked when he saw the Odius and the Crowbear that practically made him shit his pants.
“I didn’t want you to get hurt,” Cassie says quietly, not really looking at him, after he was done ranting away.
He leans his head down trying to get eye contact, “I can hold my own Baroness,” Kellen says with a little force behind it, “So am I to expect a sleeping draft, and some rope every time there is an enemy around?”
Knowing the argument was futile and knowing he would never understand the difference between a few bandits and a 40 foot long golem spider, she just frowns and nods her head. The Baroness then looks at him finally.
The beauty of this woman always affects me, Kellen says to himself, it will be the death of me most likely. He finishes up his chicken, takes a gulp of ale. “So we are going to just let this Velencia ride away, huh?”
Her shoulders slump, shakes her head a little.
Kellen sighs seeing that, leans back a bit, deciding on what to say next.
“Velencia is an extremely powerful woman. She is out of my paygrade, and just about everyone else’s…” Cassie starts but gets interrupted.
Kellen, wide eyes, “Your pay grade hun? I don’t think so…” he says with a bit of pride, shaking his head.
Staring at him for a few moments, she nods her head, “yes, above my paygrade. She can end a confrontation with a simple flick of her wrist, she can summon fires from underneath you and even ‘eat your soul’ if the mood strikes her right.”
Kellen went on to say something, but stopped, mouth open, brow furrowed.
“Hell, I could even say she might be one of the most powerful people on Legon,” Cassie says and continues, “you just don’t take someone like that into custody without preparing for serious casualties… and Bozutto be damned, she fought like no one I have ever seen before. Without her, that cloud would still be here, we would be seriously wounded, if not dead and we would be drowning in Augustian troops. I saw a side to her that made me think twice I guess…”
“What, think twice about the atrocities she has done throughout both our lands?” he retorts quickly, giving her a look.
The Baroness stands up, puts her napkin on her plate, knowing yet again, there is nothing she can say that would make him truly understand how dangerous this woman is.
Cassie gets a knock on her door. She glances at Kellen who is finishing off his chicken dinner. “Come on in,” she says, then looking at the door.
In walks 2 elite Augustian guards, and behind them, a royal dressed man, though in what looks to be battle gear is nothing more than ceremonial. He turns to see Cassandra, the Baroness of Camerondale. He dismisses his guards, they leave and close the door.
“Magistrate Sarfina, what a delightful surprise,” she says, smiling and nodding in respect. Thinking to herself with relief, she actually means it. Some of the leaders Augustia could have sent, could have been a lot worse.
The tall, uppity Augustian Elf smiles, nods back, “Lady Cassandra, the pleasure is all mine.”
Kellen wipes his mouth and stumbles over, knocking over a mug and dropping a fork on the floor. “Magistrate,” he utters, somewhat embarrassed, nodding a bit.
Sarfina takes a moment, eyebrow raised, a small smirk on his face, “Regent, I was not expecting to see you here so far from Vermeer,” he finishes, then looking around the common surroundings of the makeshift setup with a little disdain.
“I see the problem at hand is taken care of. I am guessing we owe our thanks to you,” the Augustian elf says, walking to the window and glancing out the now darkening sky, getting close to night time.
She smiles and nods, “Yes, took care of it this morning. Dispatched the perpetrators, stopped their incantation and now all of the eastern part of Legon is getting a good soaking. As for the thanks, that… goes out to many people including ones outside the Camerondale party. Your Huntress Faelyn, being one of them.”
Smiling wide, “yes, our little, ‘wild child’ has done us a great service once again. Just wish she would hang up her bow and take her rightful place in the council…” the Magistrate says trailing off on a bit of a tangent.
Then he turns and looks at her, as though realizing what the Baroness just said, eyes wide. “Incantation?” he says with a bit of a start.
The three finally sit at the table in the room, Kellen cleaning up the best he can. They begin to go over the events.
Cassie discusses what happened, and explains to the Magistrate about Imyrillion, her followers, the golems, the mound of dead bodies and the massive spell cast upon the area.
After the story, his eyes as wide as they get, his mouth a little open. He leans back, “Oh my, I didn’t expect all of that. I mean we got the reports from the returning Elite, but for a new goddess, a heaping mound of dead bodies and a massive spider construct?”
He chuckles a bit, “I am not questioning you, but you have to know how hard this is to accept?” Sarfina says, giving Cassie a look.
“Believe me, I know. But this scar…” she points at the bottom of her chin that has a mark on it, “…tells me differently. I caught the wrong side of a massive sword from one of those golems and let me tell you, it did not tickle.”
Again, his eyes bulge, “Cassandra, you are royalty. You should not put yourself in battle,” giving her a warm scolding look.
She smiles, “Of course, but the safety of this realm, of all of Legon is top priority, and I will do nothing short to secure it,” Cassie says and continues with a slight chuckle, “plus, I am always in for a good tussle now and again.”
He nods to her in respect, “That I know my dear Cassandra, Hero of the Realm.”
Kellen looks at Cassie from the corner of his eye and gets a warm excited feeling. A slow smile comes across his face knowing she is one bad-ass woman that is beyond beautiful.
The three finish out the discussion with some laughs and head nods.
“Well, I must take my leave. I will return to my three warships, turn them around and head back home,” he says with a chuckle. “Always a pleasure to speak with you Cassandra.”
He takes her hand and kisses it. She nods, “as it is a pleasure to see you, Magistrate.”
The Augustian royalty leaves the HQ and heads for the docks. The massive army never left the boats. They do exactly as he said, they turn around and sail back home.
“I thought he would never leave,” she says with a smirk, as the door closed, turning to Kellen. Cassie rips off her shirt and races to the Regent, and much to his delight, she tackles him into the bed.
Freya (Friday) 7:00AM
Khamyra wakes up before her fiance, and stealthily gets up out of bed. Her excitement to head for the hall is mounting. Then the idea she will be with her kids a few short days after that is making her even more happy.
She is all but geared up when she hears Chance yawn and stretch. She goes over gives him a deep kiss and tells him, “get your ass moving, we got places to go,” in a playful tone.
The couple makes their way down to the bar room floor and surprisingly sees everyone down there. Velencia is talking with Lyric, Shemrata is double checking her bags, Arlo is jamming the breakfast rations Velencia gave him in his mouth.
After some morning pleasantries, and everyone geared up, ready to go, the group huddles up.
“It’s about a day, day and a half ride to Wishbone Way, so if we leave now we can get there hopefully by high sun, Sundalay,” the Priestess says with heightened excitement, “this is it, what we have been fighting about forever. A huge step towards him ascending to his rightful place.”
She continues, “Then there will be more work to do once he has entrance to the hall, and obviously the preparation for the upcoming battle. It could be a week from now, could be a year from now. But I am sure Animaxes followers have already started their readiness…” Velencia continues on.
Khamyra shoots Chance a glance, and he looks her way. They both nod their head.
“Uhh, Priestess?” Chance starts but gets interrupted.
She gives him a look, “excuse you, did it look like I was finished?” The dark haired, blue eyed woman retorts.
“Well, I have to interrupt, I couldn’t stand much more of your rattling on and on… plus I have a little news about… our change in plans,” he snaps back, Chances face now with a smirk.
A little anger washes over her face, but when she looks at Khamyra, she knows that there is important information.
“There will be no, Eve of Ascension, so to speak,” the Quarter elf starts, but again gets interrupted.
Velencia lets out a laugh, “Oh, no? The prophecies of thousands of years is wrong huh?” she goes on, laughing more.
“No, you daft bitch,” chance says now getting frustrated, “Finster will ascend on Sundalay, and Animax will probably be holding the door open for him as well!”
Even Shemrata had a confused look on her face, a small non-believing smile.
Khamyra makes sure that the Priestess knows this is true. “Vel, hun, no shit,” she says, touching her arm, “Animax wants Finster to ascend…”
She looks at Chance, nods her head.
“…to help fight Immyrillion, who is much more a threat to him than Finster right now,” Chance finishes his fiance’s sentence.
The Priestess laugh suddenly stops, her eyes getting a bit big and red starting to form in her cheeks. “what…?”
Khamyra, preparing for the onslaught nods her head.
“A while back, when I traveled with Cassie, Killian, we were at the base of the hall, and since I was the only one able to get near the door, I wandered back. Found an oasis and spoke with our Lord, Animax and some guy named Edwin,” Chance says and continues, “They struck a deal, help with the Iron Wench and Finster can ascend. My lord had no problems with that, figuring he didn’t want to lose good people to a fight with Animax, then turn around only to have to help fight the fallen goddess as well…”
Her fists are clenched, her eyes wide, face flushed. She is just staring at the tall Champion, the room is silent.
“I can’t believe you, if this is true, the fact you did not tell me, me of all people! How dare you! What else are you not telling me or anyone else?!?” Velencia says with her voice getting louder and louder.
Khmyra interjects, “he was sworn to secrecy by not only Animax, but our Lord as well. Did you want Chance to disobey him?” she finishes with her eyebrows raising.
After a few minutes, Velencia walks over to the part of the room, Arlo is there and he gives her a goofy wave and smile. She reaches for him, rubs his cheek and smiles.
With her back to the 3 of them, “I do not know why he would not of told me, though some of his requests have been a bit odd lately,” the Priestess starts, “but I am torn between stabbing the Chump in his left eye and rejoicing at the fact… our work here is almost done.”
The room is quiet for a bit, just Arlo fidgeting by the table.
“The prophecy still stands, so to speak, even if they still refer to it as the ‘Eve of Ascension’,” Chance says finally, “there will be a great battle, but it will be Finster and Animax against the Iron Wench.”
Velencia turns and walks towards the group, “the prophecy does not name this battle, it says there will be a great battle on the eve of Finster’s ascension. That is how it got it’s name, but it is not a name given by any prophecy.”
Khamyra interjects, “this can’t leave this room, seriously, it is still very secret. With the idea of this fallen goddess now starting to spread, the need for the secret to be, well, secret will dissipate, but for now… it’s just between us.”
They all agree. They take each other’s hands, lean in and Velencia leads them in a quick prayer to Finster. They double check, say goodbye to Lyric and head out of the dolphin.
